Badapwned Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 I hate to bother you guys so much, but, if you can help me fix my problem it was worth it for meh! So, the bike sat for a couple weeks, I installed a new timing plate. It is now set at +4 degrees. The bike wont start without getting a shot of carb clean. When it does start, I cannot give it more throttle because it starts starving for more fuel. I could probably keep it running with more carb clean but, not my best idea. Its done this before, I would start it and I could give it no throttle whatsoever until it ran a little bit because it would starve for fuel and die. Its doing the same thing. Doesn't make any sense. Last time I rode it, it would be fine after it ran a little bit. It's possible the jets could be clogged, but I doubt it since I have them apart like every frigging day to put bigger jets in. So, I dunno. I just finished syncing the carbs. So, I guess ill go kick some more. Quote
Paddleboy Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 are you useing the choke at all? Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 where are you spraying the carb cleaner? sounds like you have an air leak somewhere. the carb cleaner is plugging the hole long enough for it to start. once the cleaner evaporates or is burned off then it starts to lean out and revs up. Badapwned Posted November 16, 2008 Author Report Posted November 16, 2008 (edited) Yes the choke was pulled. I think I would be more inclined to say the carb cleaner is burning more so then blocking air. I am spraying directly into the carbs with them WOT, then I close them and kick. locogato11283 Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 clean your carbs. sounds like the pilot circuit could be plugged up. Quote
Paddleboy Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 have you bumped you pilot up? or maybe since you advanced your timing you may have either weak spark and need new plugs or need fresh gas since it has been sitting Quote
Badapwned Posted November 16, 2008 Author Report Posted November 16, 2008 Does gas go bad in a week or two? Yes the pilot has been bumped up to 35, on stock carbs. I could possibly try the next size up. Clogged pilot circuit, possible, very possible. But why does it want to die when I give it like mid throttle? It still is starving for more fuel.... Quote
Paddleboy Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 wow 35 for stock carbs is alot. what is your mods and jetting currently Quote

WHOA!!!! 35 pilot??????? thats your fuckin problem right there.. your pilot should either be 25 or 27.5 with aftermarket pipes.. youve probably fouled your plugs. you need to drop your pilot down to a 27.5 and change your plugs.. bam, problem solved.. thank you, thank you.. ill be here all night... Quote
T_Shee Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 no the gas shouldnt go bad that quickly. start with the simple stuff, clean carbs, change plugs, check for broken intake boots or other air leaks. then see what happens Quote

Badapwned Posted November 16, 2008 Author Report Posted November 16, 2008 (edited) lol slow down guys, I have a 2 page saga for my jetting, it can be found right here.... http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=102232 (read the last post in that link, it was my last update for my jetting) My jetting is up to 380 main, 35 pilot. I was running lean until I got the 380 in, and I would have a 0 - 1/8 bog with any smaller jet until I got the 35 in. With the smaller pilot jets I would have to turn the air screw all the way until 1 turn in, until I got the 35, I could then actually use my air screws to adjust idle speed. locogato11283 Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 then something is wrong. in the history of all banshees ive never heard of anyone using anything higher than a 30 pilot. if you have to have a 35 in there, then maybe you do have an air leak. also 380 is damn fucking high as well. i think you better take a better look and see whats going on. Badapwned Posted November 16, 2008 Author Report Posted November 16, 2008 lol I thought the same thing, I could get no plug color whatsoever until I put the 380's in. Once i did, I finally got the brown plug color I was looking for. Quote
Paddleboy Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 (edited) ok so if i understand correct your needle is on the very bottom clip? start from scratch.. 25 pilot 330 or 340 main since here in MI it is cold and needle in the middle Edited November 16, 2008 by Paddleboy Quote
