sangheraent Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 my banshee was running on one cylinder then I stoped to check out whats going on and realised my right cylinder only runs up to about 1/4 throttle. thought it needed cleaning but when I was playing with throttle it reacted the same way over and over again. so when I went to open the bowls I realised my glass hole on my right cylinder was gone. do I need to buy a whole new carb or can I just get a little glass thing?? could this even be the problem? it was running primo before that Quote
THE GRIM RIPPER Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Thats a vacuum leak and is def your problem.... If you lost the window glass I would say it would be easier just to find another carb but if you could seal that opening you would be good..... This is a weird problem, never heard of the window coming out Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 I didn't think the window could come out i thought it was recessed in. Quote
sangheraent Posted October 28, 2008 Author Report Posted October 28, 2008 I didn't think the window could come out i thought it was recessed in. thats what I thought i have the wierdest problems with my shee. I can touch the cylinder inside the carb with a screw driver. can I just put tape on it for now until I get a new carb? will it be enough to hold. Quote
KlotzBanshee Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Do you have the little piece of glass that goes in there or is it gone? If you still have it, put it back in (with the carb off) and see if it falls in toward the slide or out. If it falls out only, you can push it in until it seats and carefully tap the rim around window with a small center punch to hold it in there. If it falls inward...then that won't work and you'll have to find some other way to seal that hole up. Do not use duct tape or any tape period, that will not stay there for long and you'll end up with an air leak. If you have to, you may be able to epoxy it or even jb weld it closed. Just be sure your slide doesn't hang up on it inside the carb or you'll have bigger problems. That hole must be sealed off to work properly but you don't necessarily need to see through it, you can still sync your cabs w/o it. Quote
sangheraent Posted November 12, 2008 Author Report Posted November 12, 2008 i filled in the hole with epoxy and at first the cylinder turned on it idled and warmed up for a while and then when I went to drive away it just did nothing and went back to the same old problem. while I was doing that I did a compression test and realised the spark plug on the cylinder that wasnt working was black as shit and wet with gas. should it be that color? i dont really know what fouled plugs look like but could it be that?
