bansheesickness Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 i noticed when i got a little brake/carb cleaner on my painted plastics, it started to peal up. maybe try acetone? bo a test area and see if it attacks the plastic. Quote

sinisterboo Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Yep, go in the kitchen, grab a can, and go spray something. Its not as fast as that shit that eats skin, but its nice to your plastic... Quote
blanco Posted October 8, 2008 Author Report Posted October 8, 2008 how does this work just spray it on, let it sit ,come back and wipe off? Quote
sinisterboo Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Yea, just spray it on. and wait.......... Unfortunately theres no paint removal instructions on the can. now get your asses to the grocery store and start stippin plastics! Quote

BansheeRider87 Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 i was thinking more along the lines of aircraft remover but im not sure if it will melt my plastic if i get brave maybe ill try your suggestion thanks for the response  No no no my friend. I had my rims painted black on my car. After the summer was over i wanted them back to stock. My buddies dad has a body shop and he said to try some aircraft remover to take off the paint. Well it sure did take off the black paint along with the clear coat on the rims right down the bare aluminum. I ended up having to buy new rims that following spring because they were so ugly and look like they were put threw a grinder. If it could take off clear coat on rims I'm pretty sure it would destroy plastic without a problem Quote
someone82 Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 EASY-OFF oven cleaner. learned that back in my model car building days. swear to god it works! Easy-off is the shit, but just be carefull it'll strip powder coating too. Also use it in a well ventilated area with gloves, it is a nasty chemical. enjoy! Quote
mofoka Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 I think acetone is one of the cleanest strippers. You just have to watch how long you leave it on for. Depending on the condition I'd probably use paint thinner. I find the best way to prep plastic for paint is with the red scotch pads (the auto ones) to get a good scuff on it before painting again. The gouges may need sanding if any. Unless you are going to try and buff out the plastic then that is whole nother story. Either way I think you will need to refinnish the plastics. Quote
