Tedder Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Idk.... Are we talking $1000 all retail products, or private party purchases? By avoiding retailers and buying private I did about $1000 worth of work for around $700. So saying a "stock banshee with $1000 thrown at it can't compete" is not a valid argument. Gosh, I don't want to get into a pissing match here so I hope this is just a friendly discussion. I was posting what I know to be first hand accurate information. My son and I race 1/4 mile Banshee's. In 2008 our best ET's with both quads running Banshee based motors on alcohol and no nitrous was 10.07 and 10.19. IMO $1000.00 in private purchased parts/upgrades in a stock Banshee still can't compete with a stock 1000 Artic Cat. A really good ET from a stock port cylinder and carb Banshee with reeds and pipes is 13.40's ** This is 1/4 mile I'm talking about. Maybe that's were some of our difference of opinion is? Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I'm not arguing with you by any means. I have no idea how fast an AC 1000 is. It was "$1000 + Stock Banshee vs. AC 1000 stock." I just wanted to make sure we were realistically "spending" the $1000.00 BUT...you say your alcohol 'Shees can't beat them either? Or can they? If you can't....That just blows the $1,000.00 Banshee theory right out of the water, and how the $1000.00 is "spent" becomes a non-issue right there. Quote

Oh crap - I just saw J Madd's post...I thought we were talking about an Artic Cat 1000 snowmobile!!! Damn, thought I had something to contribute. I'll just shut up now! Sorry man. Quote
Hilarious Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 i dont have anything to add to this thread but i am curious as to how fast one of these thundercats is. they look friggin huge. take a look at this.... http://www.atvriders.com/atvreviews/arctic...pressintro.html pretty interesting article and yes, there is a banshee in it. 05.Banshee.SE Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 After reading that article...I hate the Thundercat even more. The ONLY reason it is so fast is because they threw so much motor in there. Okay...it can reach speeds of 80mph... I can do that on a twin 350cc....350!!!!!!! Not 1000!!!!!! I'm tired of heavy ass, huge motor, 4 stroke bikes... Not enough power? Let's double the motor size. AC you fail to impress me, again. Quote

AC you fail to impress me, again. it looks fast and its 4 wheel drive too. could you imagine launching that thing down a trail and through a mudhole sideways at breakneck speed while hauling supplies and such while going camping? my only concern would be stoping it. it would seem that the steering and brakes are lackluster for the sheer size of the machine. jjn56 Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I think the 1,000 stands for It weighs 1,000lbs also on those machines. Quote
