OKCterror Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 So im tired of paying rediculouse fees to ride at state parks and lakes. I live on 8acres of flat oklahoma dirt. Me and the wifey are maken a track to ride. Got the ok from the homeowners assoc. and we started yesterday. Got the basic layout down and cleared all the area. Got a grater coming on friday to loosen up the dirt and then were placing a simple whoop section, into 3 to 4 burms then a 15ft step up. Were doing it small first then adding on to it later. Pics up soon but i was wondering if anyone else has home tracks? post them if ya do ps: okc riders, feel free to come to me casa and ride, free of charge.-Dan Quote
hercalmighty Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 My dad and I built a track behind my parents house. We let alot of people sign up and ride. Had over 500 people signed up. Then some dumbass kids went riding were they should not have been and got caught. Needless to say the township came in and shut us down. So just a word of advice watch who you let ride and keep the amount of people to a minium. Also if you live around any AMA races go and ask for an insurance waiver form. Get EVERYBODY to sign it. You and your wife included. If you cant find one PM me and I can see if I can maybe email you one. It was a nice track. Took about 1 minute and 20 seconds to go around with a local pro on a 250. Had three table top, a rythem section a couple doubles, and an up hill double. The big jump was a 80' table top that only three people cleared. My brother and I are working on getting the track back up and running though. PS: DO NOT charge money, ask for donations. Charging money = Buisness Quote
bbcmudtruck Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 One easy thing to do is make your doubles, table tops or whatever to small. Before you make the whole track, make one jump at a time and see how it does (to much or to little), then proceed. We have made a few over the last couple of years and it never fails we make the doubles to small or to close together. They always seem bigger than they are. If you use the doubles correctly you can really air them babies out! Good luck to ya, and for dam sure post some vids! Ryan Here is an example of the doubles being to close together and not big enough. http://s265.photobucket.com/albums/ii224/b...nt=DSCN0714.flv Its very easy to over shoot the table top as well. http://s265.photobucket.com/albums/ii224/b...nt=DSCN0715.flv Quote
hercalmighty Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 I hear you there. It looks like you guys made the jump to send you out not up. Really play with the face of the jumps. The way we did it was we had a guy running a bobcat and he would build the first jump and shape the face. Then I would jump it a couple times to see how it was hitting and where I was landing. Then we would build the landing and shape the back side. When we built and design our track we built it so everybody could ride it. Kids on 50cc up to the local pro could ride with no problem. Quote
