BansheeRider87 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Hey guys- Check it out I got a little bored tonight so decided to try some polishing. I used 3 diff. grit sandpaper and wire wheel. It came out pretty good. I think if I put some more elbow-grease into it i can really get it to shine! http://s409.photobucket.com/albums/pp171/b...nt=IMG_6265.jpg http://s409.photobucket.com/albums/pp171/b...nt=IMG_6264.jpg Quote
bansheefreak89 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 looks good man but get a bench grinder with a 7in cotton wheel and some good compound that what i did and alot easier trust me Quote
GleasmJA Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 If you really want it to stand out.... get ride of all the pot marks and casting lines making it smooth... Then polish it. I did all the polishing on my bike by hand. Started with a grinder with sand paper wheel.. 200 grit... 800 grit.. then 1200 grit. After all the i polished on a cotton wheel with rough polish then fine polish. It took a while but looks great. Quote
BansheeRider87 Posted October 1, 2008 Author Report Posted October 1, 2008 Do you think you could post some pics? Quote
downNdirty Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Looks good. Using a bench grinder with a polish wheel is SOOO much easier. I sand all the parts that I polish. Start with 220 then 400 then 600. Then I use the polish wheel. Im happy as hell with the way my stuff turns out. Quote
BansheeRider87 Posted October 1, 2008 Author Report Posted October 1, 2008 wow thats sweeet!! is a bench grinder like a normal grinder? i have a 4inch grinder Quote

BansheeRider87 Posted October 1, 2008 Author Report Posted October 1, 2008 how do I get out the little marks? I bought a buffer pad for my grinder and some polish today thanks guys Quote
Frogger Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Looks good! I've been doing my stingers and it gets addicting. I want to do the whole quad now! Not to hijack the thread but I got a microfiber bonnet for a hand held buffer and tried buffing on my stingers that way. Didn't turn out as good as I thought so I just went back to doing it the old fashion way with elbow grease. Is there any kind of trick with a hand held? Quote
downNdirty Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 how do I get out the little marks? I bought a buffer pad for my grinder and some polish today thanks guys I wet sand the parts and work my way from 220 up to 800 or 1000, before I use the polishing wheel. Or you can you the wheel with some fine cutter and try to get the marks out. It will work if the marks are fine scrathes nothing bad. Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Get a dremel with polishing buffs it takes out all the grooves and roughness. I did it to my cases after i talked to meltice i believe and a few others. This picture was taken after the buffing wheels before i even layed polish on it. So it gives you a piture of what the buffs do to the alluminum as far as smoothing the surface area up for polish. Quote
