Dual rate rear shock

Does anyone run a dual rate rear shock? What are the options, can I get my stocker rebuilt and make it a dual rate, or is that an aftermarket shock only? Is there any advantage or disadvantages to running one?

I had my stock rear shock rebuilt with an Elka kit and it came with dual springs... works way better than stock but not sure how much of that difference is because of the springs... only dissadvantage is it sits a little lower.
