I currently have an 06 banshee w/ boyeson reeds, fmf sst pipes, & prowflow k&n...I had initially planned to shave the head .03, +4 the timing & rejet the carbs for more low to midrange, but i just found out one of my friends is parting his banshee and has a top end port job. I mostly ride open trails, but from what i hear a port job(even tho its top end) would really bring it my bike to life...which one do you guys think i would benefit from the most??

ive ridden my drag port cyls on open trails.like stated the power is like a light switch compared to a trail/woods port. i would ask your buddy who ported them and what for.

imo, porting is always better than bolt ons.it seems u have a decent amount of bolt ons already.if u do go with the ported cyls..why not get a cool head with some 18-19cc domes for some good compression and run some race gas and still get the adjustable timing plate +4.

sounds like a nice trail shee to me

I was talking to Jeff at F.A.S.T. and he recomended doing all the bolt-ons first before porting. I had $500 to spend and had the same idea about porting compared to bolt ons. I went with a cool head, timming plate, and V-Forces instead. He is a really helpful guy so you might want to give him a call.

Its a trail/dune port, stock bore...I thought the ported cylinder might counter the effects of the bolts on I was planning on doing(also have a 13tooth front sprocket im still considering)...a lot of people have told told me that i should get my crank welded if i do the port job, too...

Did he say why he suggested the bolt ons first, bc im thinking I can get jets, adj plate, shaved head, and cylinders for around $300

what other bolt ons are u considering? besides advancing ur timing,a coolhead, jetting and pipes...theres only so much u can gain on a set of stock port cyls with basic bolt ons...something to consider in the long run

and as far as welding ur crank yea its a great idea and it will def save hastle in the near future, but for the riding your talking about with pipes, trail port cyls etc. a good stock crank should hold with that hp.

FMF.

Get a coolhead (Noss or Pro Design) and some domes to match your elevation. (And Timing +4)

Is your TORS removed? Do that before anything.

Then do a dune port.

Get a billet water impeller too...I wish I had sooner...now I'm paying for repairs I wouldn't need if I had it already!
