Decided to throw in a crank true and weld with my other mods. Wnated to know the easiest way to split the cases. I know I have to take everything off and i need a flywheel puller, but i have read that most of the time they are kinda hard to split so whats the best way to get them apart with out damaging anything

they are very ez to split, remove the jugs, remove the stator and clutch cover, pull the clutch and all the hardware, remove the flywheels and stator and unscrew the screws on the top of the case and fill the halfs over and remove the nuts on the bottom, use a rubber mallet to wack the cases and they should come apart.

Do your self a favor and buy a clymers manuel, they are worth thier weight in gold for someone trying to learn how to do it them selfs

Word, rubber or soft faced dead blow hammer is your friend. Kind of work your way around tapping and it will come free. Dont pry on anything with a prybar/screwdriver so you dont mar up any sealing surfaces.

also get a piece of cardboard cut out of motor, every bolt that you take of mark in place on cardboard for different sizes....so you know where they go when putting back together....
