Dave I. Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 I have adware on my computer and cant get rid of it. Norton Internet security or Adaware Free wont get rid of it. I can hear shit in the background like ads and stuff and Ill get pop ups once in a while. Anyone know how to delete it? Computer is running super slow. Quote
Mjv420 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 First thing I would do is ditch Norton all together, I hate that shit. I use zonealarm firewall along with adaware se and everythings been good for the last 2 years. I dont think the free version of ad-aware will delete them it just finds them right? I've got a couple license keys for full version of SE if you'd like. Quote

bigboybanshee Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 AVG works well and its free. I use it along with zone alarm for the firewall and my PC has been virus free for a while now. Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Here's a good free one. It's from Download.com, so there isn't any spyware, or viruses attached. Spyware Doctor Starter Edition 6.0.0.362 Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Try CCleaner to clear a lot of unused junk from your computer. It's free, and you can make donations if you want. http://www.ccleaner.com/ [CCleaner] http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ [spybot S&D] I can probably get you a cracked version of NOD32 too, depending on your operating system you might not have a use for it. xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 do a disk cleanup and delete cookies. i run the original ad-aware SE that stoped doing updates for over a year now and use Nortons. i never have problems. i also use pcpitstop optimizer. Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Defrag your computer too...it's in your system tools. It might take a while, but it's worth it..you should do it about monthly too. Quote

Defragmentation of your hard drive will make a big difference if you have alot of shit on your computer and you've never heard of it before. If you dont store alot of files, programs you should'nt need to do a defrag. Quote
dajogejr Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 After using Norton for years and Years, finally got tired of it. I switched to NOD32 from Eset over a year ago...and never looked back.. More updates, not as process hungry, can detect AND delete permanently things Norton would only catch...some time. Go to newegg.com and order the OEM version for 29.99 and free shipping, it's good for a year. Between NOD32 and Kaspersky, they are consistently rated the top two antivirus solutions by non-bias testing. I know you have adware....NOD32 will get rid of it. It's a fully functional trial for 30 days.... I use Sygate (Hard to find now a days) as my software firewall, and am behind a router as well... It's a layered protection approach...and sensible browsing/email habits as well... Quote
