seabass Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Got a nice beefy chrome fuel filter from a friend. Just wondering if it's o.k. to use with mixed fuel? I'm thinking it is but don't know if the oil would gum it up and restrict the flow of gas. Thanks for the opinions. Quote
LiftdT4R Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Yes it is. But I still wouldnt use it. There is a filter in the petcock in the tank that will work fine. I have also heard of the carbs starving for gas when additional fuel filters are added. Quote
dragbanshee Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 If the one in the petcock is good don't use it, no need for it. Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 I tried one for 1 minute and I use clear fuel lines. Just idling and revving it while watching the lines I notices the carbs weren't getting fuel. Let alone if I was riding it, but I took it right off. Lost it like a bad habit Quote
seabass Posted September 3, 2008 Author Report Posted September 3, 2008 Thanks guys, guess I won't be using it. Anyone want to buy it??? LOL  Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 They work rather well on a four stroke in the smaller cc range that only has a single carb. Plud they burn fuel much slower than banshees. I know some guys running them Quote
mdhc500 Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 I had a post a week or so ago in regards to my right cylinder dropping/stopping after a minute or two of riding. I believe this was the reason. I installed an in-line filter and I had this problem. I removed it (and cleaned the ever livin shit out of my carbs), but after I put it back to stock the problem went away... Now my throttle is sticking WOT on me... Did it up at Coal Hill this past weekend 3/4 the way up a hill... I let it go and had a wild ride at the top, as stopping 3/4 the way up a steep ass hill was not an option... If you use one be sure you have sufficient flow. Quote

Onesickcrewcab Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Ditch the fuel filter. As they only cause problems. The filter on the petcock is good enough. If you want to have some kind of filtered fuel I believe you can buy a filter for the top of your cas can. Someone else suggested that in another fuel filter post. Quote
batshee Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 I even destroyed the one in the petcock the fuel i put in my bike is filterd trough my filling tank!!!! but yea you will be more than perfect with the stock one in the petcock. Quote
