bansheejoel Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 i just got back from the dunes and the shee ran good but with the worst bog ive ever riden with on a 2-stroke. It would only go if i clutched it to get into the rpm's. Hell i had it in first a couple times and it wouldnt even pull through the rpms i had to clutch it in 1st. What the hell? I know im Fat on the mains but that should affect low-midrange should it? It acts like it doesnt have enough balls to pull from low rpm's to the powerband without clutching it, after that it rips. When its bogging it wont pull out of it without clutching it or going downhill. The other thing is, i came to a stop in 4th gear and tryed to downshift and the shifter got stuck down and wouldnt move. I had to take off in 4th (i know its not good) and then it shifted like butter the rest of the night. What the hell could that be? thanks guys.....doesnt help my cousin ran out of gas so i went back to the truck to get a strap to pull him back and i get out to him and hook up the strap and i ran out of gas....didnt have anymore gas at the truck and it was damn near dark and had to get pulled back.....what a shitty night. Guess im bringing 8 gallons next time lol Quote
magz Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 mine did something similar, but it was my fault, i over oiled my filters so it wasnt letting enough air in. which could also result in a filter being to dirty Quote
bronco91shee Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 i would check the air screw to make sure it is around 1.5 turns out and see what clip your needle jet is on. how bout, are the carbs even clean? how do the plugs look?-is it possible ur running to rich and it doesnt run good with low spark, but in higher rpms it has enough spark to get thru the rich jetting? just some thoughts? choke on? choke tube in the right place? either of the carbs leaking?-as float stuck those are all of my ideas...hope it helps Quote
bigboybanshee Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 Maybe a bent shift fork on your shifting issue, or the claw around your shift star is not lined up properly? How much ignition timing do you run? You may need to bump it up some, and if you're rich on the fuel, lean it down to where it's right Quote
bansheejoel Posted August 28, 2008 Author Report Posted August 28, 2008 i know my shift forks are straight, carbs are spotless, just rebuilt them a few weeks ago, needles are on the 4th clip from the top, choke is off, choke tube is on properly, air screws at 1.5 out Quote

J-Madd Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 (edited) The shifter sticking down is usually the spring on the external shift mechanism (the spring around the claw on the end of the shift shaft). The spring pops out of its holder and doesn't recoil to put the shifter back in the center. Not hard to fix. #3 in this link. http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycl.../m8731sch247547 Edit: I posted the wrong diagram initially. Edited August 29, 2008 by J-Madd Quote
Pyrojunky619 Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 On the bogging, what do your reeds look like, check them to make sure they get a good seal an maybe some new plugs. Quote
Snopczynski Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Last stuck shifter I had was a bent shift shaft. The shift star retainer end had ended up moving out and not engaging the pins anymore. The bog could more than likely be a needle adjustment issue. It can also be caused by mismatched parts are improperly installed gasket thickness', etc....... A list of your setup, current carb settings, and mods would help figure it out. Quote
