  1. Hi guys: A crotch-rocket advocate at work told me, "In Europe two-strokes power many of the racing bikes." Can anyone confirm or disprove this? I found this hard to believe because I perceive the average European's political stance as very liberal on environment issues. I suppose I see most Europeans as "cultured", "aristocratic" and/or "civilized". This is in direct contrast to sterotypical redneck Americans who like to get out in the woods or abandoned strip mines and let loose. Keep in mind I've never been to Europe. Additionally, I often read about Germany or France accusing the USA of making too much polution (or not doing enough to reduce it in the future). Although the fact that the USA liberal media only publishes what they want us to see isn't lost on me either. Thanks in advance, Bill
  2. Hi Hoover: Welcome aboard. Regards, Bill
  3. Hi all: Ditto. I could justify putting the 'Shee up for adoption, but never for a 400EX! You better check your local laws. This might be illegal. If it's not - it should be. Regards, Bill
  4. Hi TxBlueShee: You can create your own on the T720. You just have to key them in. Search the Internet for RTTL Format. Page 104 of the Motorola T720 manual describes in detail how to do this. You can download the manual in PDF format or buy one from The Motorola Support Site for $8.50. Here is a site where you can get the text to type into your phone: http://www.geocities.com/candidaloo/rtttl.htm The selection here is rather small. It doesn't seem to have any copyrighted stuff to keep them out of trouble. However if you look around enough I am sure you will find what you like. There are commercial programs to convert computer songs (e.g. MP3s) to use on your phone as well but they also need an interface (special connector). You wanted cheap. Making your own is the cheapest choice available. Regards, Bill
  5. Hi guys: The YFZ450 needs a name if it is going to have a legacy like the 'Shee. Regards, Bill
  6. Hi guys: I hope Cotton-Eyed Joe doesn't see this thread. The "old HQ" forums had a topic similar to this. He knows his shit! He explained it all so well it made my head spin. I was most impressed with his explanation of the sonic wave and how it works. Everyone seems to focus on back pressure but forgets the value of the sound wave. My brain is still smoking from his wisdom.... Regards, Bill
  7. Hi all: Looks like my advertising this site at Deepwater, MO has worked. You know who you are. Oh yeah... <------- Regards, Bill
  8. Hi UltimateDuner: It seems strange such an undesirable application has not made the news. I have to wonder if someone is targeting you specifically. This lends itself to the hacker or more likely a friend or family member screwing with you. Regards, Bill
  9. Hi guys: You obviously didn't read the terms of service, my friend. First let's read the terms of service. Please allow me to highlight what I felt was relevant and translate: 1. "... In the event of technical problems or data loss which causes a loss of account information, your account will be reset at $0.00, and you hereby waive any and all claims for any amount previously accrued but not yet disbursed." If "my dog eats your homework" you get jack. 2. "... All payments shall be by check, made payable to you, and sent to you at your last known address via the U.S. Postal Service, first class mail. There will be a check processing fee of $3.00 (three dollars)and any payment returned to GHC shall be voided, and your account shall be deleted and any accrued amounts will be forfeited." We probably make about 1000% on every check we send not counting the ones that come back which we keep in full minus the nominal postage charge. 3. "... In order to receive payment, you must submit a request to GHC using the electronic request form provided to you via your member account webpage." At no time do we guarantee said member site will be accessable by you or your agent(s). If we close up shop you cannot request payment for jack. 4. "...in exchange for performing certain actions as desired by our advertisers and providing GHC with information and access to Installed Computer(s) as described below." NOTE: The "below" gets better. Keep reading... Access to what on these computers? What on Earth am I agreeing to here? 5. "By registering for the Service, Member authorizes and grants GHC explicit and express permission to:.... (2) share and disclose to third parties Member Information, (3) access and use the Installed Computer(s) for relaying permission based (opt-in) email for GHC and/or third parties...all without further notice to or permission from Member." O-U-C-H! They just took over your computer and used it to send SPAM. 6. "Member Information will be made available to third parties. If any information provided by Member is incomplete or inaccurate, GHC retains the right to terminate Member's membership and rights to use the Service." We're going to sell you're info and if ANY PART isn't accurate you get... Jill. Bet you thought I was going to say Jack, huh? If I were you I would give written notice to terminate my agreement immediately. Regards, Bill
  10. Hi guys: I am just happy to know he is attaining that speed in the straight stretches. Anyone else remember StreetHawk from ABC-TV in the 80s? The guy had a bike that could do like 300 MPH around turns and corners. However it would only do this in some kind of computer-assisted turbo mode. I forget the exact name of the feature. They drummed something up that sounded good. Seems to me once I reached 75 MPH on sand I would focus on getting to speed more quickly. I wouldn't want to go any faster over randomly variable and ever changing terrain. However I act (feel) old and have learned speed can kill - first hand. Regards, Bill
  11. Hi D34: Two hours south must be real close to Saint Joe state park? Please let me know if you can find the name. I am pretty good at using computers and the 'Net. If you can get a name and it's on the 'Net I can probably do the rest. Regards, Bill
  12. Hey Reas11: You obviously got enough for the rest of us. Now share damn it! HA HA. Regards, Bill
  13. Hi everyone: Has anyone ever thought of starting a privately-owned ATV park for use by the general public? The only one I know by name is the Badlands in Indiana but I've heard of a couple more. I am wondering if something like this could at least pay for itself and maybe turn a bit of a profit? I am thinking $3-$5 per day/ATV with discounts for annual memberships. Perhaps free-memberships for those interested in helping periodically with park maintenance. What would the ideal ATV park need? Features: Adult Motocross Track Junior Motorcross Track 660-foot Dirt/Sand Drag Area. Hillclimbs of varying degrees. Mud Bogs Rock Crawler / Obstacle Zone Trails Facilities: Staging area with ramps for easy (un)loading. Bathrooms (Are flush toilets necessary?) Change House ATV Wash area (high-pressure). Picnic area / Camping Wish List: Dealership / Parts Vendor On-Site / Mechanic Snack / Soda / Juice Vendor What do you think? What else? Thanks in advance, Bill
  14. Hi Meat: I talked to my dad last night in Pennsylvania. He said they are calling for about ten inches of new snow. However he said Sunday is supposed to go to forty degrees. It isn't going to last. Seems like it never does anymore. I am almost ready to believe that global warming crap from the liberals. Regards, Bill
  15. Hi guys: I have a little plastic one from Wal-Mart because the people here in Saint Louis don't know what snowmobiles are! I am originally from Western Pennsylvania near Lake Erie and miss the white stuff! This is as far North as I have lived in twelve years. I enjoy messing with the natives about winter. Nobody here can drive in the stuff so they all hate it. Someone send lots this way please... Regards, Bill
  16. Hi Watz: I used to live just South of Branson and frequent the Fayetteville metro area (which - to me - includes Springdale, Bentonville, and Bella Vista). You will be right between Little Sahara to the West, Deepwater to the North and Chadwick to the North/East. All will be about 100 mile trips. The most dificult will be Chadwick cause it's hard to go due East from NW Arkansas. The roads spend as much time going North and South as they do East and - Yes - back West but eventually you'll get there... :-) I did some graduate work at U of A in Fayetteville. I can't really speak about the partying though. I worked my way through school. However, I will never forget the Razorback spirit. People line up for miles before a football and basketball game (new campus stadium in 1995 I think - Bud Walton Arena?). You already know about Little S. Deepwater is a Federal area and as such is free to ride. It is not real beaten down yet but it will be sooner or later. From Springdale you'll want to aim North up through Joplin to Truman Lake. You turn someplace to get on 13. I think Harrisonville. Deepwater is about a mile from 13 just south of Clinton. There are not many rules here. You can do the no helmet thing if you want even. Chadwick is just south and a tad East of Springfield, Missouri. The quickest way for you probably will be to go to Joplin and catch 44 then down to Ozark. The rest is like two turns on a state lettered highway toward Forsythe/Branson. It is real remote - right in the middle of the Mark Twain National Forest. Some areas are off limits due to overuse and it is the most expensive in the area (also due to overuse). The cost is $5 per ATV/day. I don't know of any places in the area that check for Missouri state stickers but the rule books say they should - so they could at any time. You are supposed to have them in all state and federal parks. Noise limits in Missouri are 95 db and I have never heard of anyone getting checked. I don't think they have the equipment. Best of luck. It's a haul for me from Saint Louis but I usually get to Deepwater a half-dozen times or so per year. It is my favorite spot. Chadwick is real tight in the trails but the fireroads are fast. I don't know anything down toward Ft. Smith way. Since they put the new highway to I-40 in the real estate has gotten valuable. Sorry about that. Regards, Bill
  17. Hi Ninja: The component you are talking about is not there to keep the bike from coming back on top of you. While I have seen them work in this manner I have also seen them sink into soft terrain or give way in a rollover accident. If you are concerned about this: 1. Start out slow and learn the capabilities of the quad. Then don't ride beyond your personal abilities. Two-stroke engines in particular are known for their unique "personalities". Sometimes they scream, sometimes they make you cry. Never assume you can handle the full power of any quad without getting to know it first. 2. Consider adding a professional wheelie-bar. I have seen these on at least one full-bore at a local riding area. Someone on here can probably point you in the right direction to get one. It just might look funny on a "less than totally modified" Banshee (who cares - if it keeps you alive). 3. Trade the Banshee for a sand rail, Honda Odyssey or something similar with a five-point safety harness and full roll cage. If you choose a sand rail or Odyssey be sure and use the handlebar wrist and leg straps. They are there to keep your apendages inside the cage during a rollover. Lastly, choose your terrain carefully to limit objects and debris that can enter the cage when rolling. Ride safely - man. You're starting to worry me! Regards, Bill
  18. Hi guys: Based on those numbers he might be dumping raw fuel out the back and igniting it! I read about that top secret aircraft engine dubbed the first "continuous external combustion engine" or "ramjet". I just didn't know it was available for a Banshee... yet. The emphasis is necessary on "continuous" because some of us have had the misfortune of an internal combustion engine becoming an external combustion engine... Those are some impressive numbers! Congratulations! I'll bet you cannot wait to take a test drive. Care to tell us how much you got in this thing? On second thought that might take away some of the prestige. You better let the newness wear off first... As for the Rustang junky... Anyone ever wonder about the title of that car magazine - "Mustangs and Fast Fords". I mean... why the distinction? Regards, Bill
  19. On November 7 at about 3 PM Banshee030C wrote: Thank you for doing this after riding. I like all the members of BansheeHQ. I don't want to see any of them messed up... well... permanently. Intoxication wears off in time. It's the other kind of messed up I worry about. You all know what I mean... I know people who drink and ride. It almost works for utility quads if they are going slow in the mud. However, I think it's TOTALLY wrong when mixed with riding high-performance quads like the Banshee. Regards, Bill
  20. Hi all: Null vote here. So much for secret ballot, eh? The choices alone do not allow enough detail to form a conclusion. I mean a Quadsport 80 could beat me if it was impaled on the front of a cruise missle in flight... Regards, Bill
  21. Hi guys: You forgot one very important question: Q. Where is the reverse lever? A. It's chrome in color, between the rear fenders and directly behind the seat. Pull really hard to engage! Regards, Bill
  22. Hi Joe: 3.1 Megapixel sounds state-of-the-art for video. Is that a still camera that takes short MPEG movies? I understood he was looking for a true digital video camera. Even though many still cameras can take short motion pictures I don't really consider them video cameras. The recent veterans of BansheeHQ have seen your pics. I remember the ones from that Windowmaker hillclimb out there in Utah. They are pretty good. I presume they were from this same camera? Regards, Bill
  23. Hi 02Shee: I did a quick scan of CDW where I buy a lot of computer stuff for work. I find their site to be a good vendor-neutral source when you have specifications and a budget only. Keep in mind their prices are not always the best so I used your high limit. I also looked at PriceWatch.com for bargains and it doesn't seem they deal much with video cameras of the type you are wanting. They have a lot of network-attached cameras and "web cams" for example. Pricewatch.com is a good source for the absolute lowest prices on computer supplies. The prices are sometimes so low that the vendor reliability comes into question. However it's a good barometer of what you can expect to pay. Check out these models: JVC GR-D30US Digital Cybercam Samsung SC-D23 Mini-DV Camcorder Regards, Bill
  24. Hi guys: Yes, but the one(s) from FMF would not have been applied yet! This one seems to have a distinctive counterclockwise angle that might suggest it is stuck to the unidentified white surface in the photo. It is not stated if the white surface is included or not. Who knows? It might be stuck to a bathroom wall in a subway station someplace in Harlem. After all... buyer pays for all shipping costs and shipping insurance is not included. Regards, Bill
  25. Hi guys: I use insurance mostly because the bank requires it. It also sits on a trailer with a tonque lock in a closed garage attached to my house. I suggest disassembling it and shipping each piece to yourself. Use the shipping priority appropriate for when you want to ride next minus the time it takes to put it back together. Be sure and get insurance on your shipping... Regards, Bill
