I was thinking that by pulling the choke out 1 notch means that it is real lean. So I am assuming that a 30 pilot would be closer. What do you guys think? Mike
-
OK, I have the mains worked out on the Shee with Toomey T-6's. I am running 320 mains on a 99 Shee with no air box and with K&N clamp ons. Now the problem is that when I start it and let it idle it, it revs to the moon. I can pull the choke out 1 notch and it idles perfect. I have 25 pilots and the needle clip set at 4th notch from the top of the needle. This thing screams mid to top!! Just won't idle. I have a good idea what pilots it needs, I just want to get some 2nd opinions from some helpful buds!! Thanks, Mike

It pops and backfires at WOT.

I am about 1400ft. As far as pre mix I run Motul 800 40:1 he just has 24:1 for the break in. What scares me is that my buddy has run this bike for about an hour very hard!! I am thinking about 320-330 main and 30 pilot, needle on 4th clip should get me close. What do you guys think?

I am helping a buddy jet his 97 Shee. He replaced his FMF's with T-6's and removed the air box and added K&N clamp on's and carbon fiber reeds. The local stealership did all the work and told him that they only had to go up one size on the main???? He thinks that they put in 280 mains. Right now the bike runs and pulls decent, but with 24:1 oil ratio (break in on new top end) it does not smoke (ever) and one cylinder pops and back fires. What do you guys think the jetting should be?? What about the pilot? Thanks, Mike

No It has the stock carbs that have been bored and I have checked the tube. I have left it unplugged several times myself!!!
-
I recently had a wrist pin bearing let go and kill a cylinder. I had a new sleeve put in and port matched to the porting I had already. Then replaced the whole topend and now it runs like shit. It feel like it only runs on one cylinder. i have replaced the plugs, cleaned the carbs, and sync the carbs with no availe!! Anyone have any ideas what to look at next. It is a 99 Shee, ported, cool head, Moto-fast 2 into 1 pipe, etc... The problem actually started before the wrist pin let go!! I still have the TORS system on the bike! Any ideas??? Thanks,Mike

Lots of compression!!! Banshees need lots of compression to pull down low. I personally run 215lbs of compression on my ported 99 XC shee. Next thing and just as important in not more is suspension. A good set of shocks will make a difference in night and day. Mike

I know that it sounds weird, but I can ride the shee and park her in the garage and the next morning their will be a small puddle of premix under her. i dont understand how the gas/oil can seperate that quick.

My Shee leaks Pre-mix oil from the fuel petcock. Has anyone else had this problem. It seems that only the oil is leaking! Can you get a rebuild for the pet cock? TIA,Mike

What Causes Wrist Pin Bearings To Fail?
RUNMYTA replied to RUNMYTA's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Banchetta, The rod bearings are fine. I guess what I was trying to say is that the wrist pin whole is still tight and shows no signs of being worn. I figured if the wrist pin bearing had been going bad over a period of time the slack would damage the wrist pin hole. Mike -
Last week I got my 99 shee out and was just play riding in the yard. I got of her and let her sit and idle for about 2 min. I get back on pull out easy and she locks up tight as a drum!!! I tear her down and the wrist pin bearing had came apart and jammed a needle bearing on each side piston trashing the left cylinder! What is unique is that the rod is tight and looks new where the pin goes. I am guessing faulty bearing?? I redone the topend about 2 years ago, but only have 20 -25 hours of riding on her. I don't race her anymore, just play riding or letting the little woman tag alone on it. Yammy dealer say that he thinks that it wasn't getting enough oil???? I run Motol 800 @ 40:1. What do you guys think might have caused this?? I want to make sure that I cover all basis before i sink a ton of money in and it go booom again!! Thanks,MIKE

That sux that they have went to that type of buisness. I personally have had nothing but great service from Skin. I purchased a complete set for my shee and 2 months later bought a desert tank. So I sent them an E-mail asking how much for just the side piece to replace for the large tank. No answer, but 3-4 days later the side piece where in my mailbox.....Free of Charge!!!! Hopefully, they make right on these problems. Keep us posted. If they don't I will not buy from them again.

NYUK, you can go f*ck yourself! As I recall you had your hand in the battles, so don't play "GOD" and try to look like a hero in front of your little computer clonies! Personally, I can care less if I post here or not. Quick and the other shit slingers is one of the reasons that I do not post much anymore. When I do post it is somewhat helpful and not a bunch of BS, like so and so is annoying. Oilsmoke, I was around way before you ever thought about being a member. I don't see how, "blah blah" is a dumbass or bashing each other is helpful!!!

And everybody wonders why all the heavy hitters (not I) have left or rarely post. This used to be a helluva site, then this same childish BS started over year ago and is still churning! Grow up guys and get a life. Mike

Alaskabanshee, use the search button. This question has been answered 100's of times. You will be fine running 100LL. I personally am running 215lbs compression with +4 timing with no problems on 100LL.

Left Cylinder Not Firing All The Time
RUNMYTA replied to CoolRaptor2001's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Sounds to me that it might be a reed petal going bad. Mine did the same thing, but would not run until up around 6 to 7k. If it has been more than a couple years I would check into reed petals. -
Porting will lower overall compression. That is why most engine builders suggest that you mill your stock head or go with a cool head to get the compression back up. I personally run 17cc domes on my XC ported shee and have 215lbs of compression. The key here is "HIGHER COMPRESSION NEEDS HIGHER OCTANE" End of story. Mike
-
Big Blue, You do not need the higher Octane fuel unless you are running high compression. If you want to run AVGAS/100ll you need to have your stock head milled or add a cool head to raise compression to over 180lbs. Majority of the time when jetting you can just go one size larger on the main and fine tune it with the air screw.
-
This question has been beat to death. If you do a search you would see that. AVGAS/100ll WILL NOT HURT YOUR ENGINE!!!! AVGAS/100ll WILL MAKE YOUR ENGINE RUN COOLER!!!! The small amount of lead that is in AVGAS actually helps reduce detonation. AVGAS/100ll has a higher oxygen content than Race/pump fuel. So when using AVGAS you "typically" need to jet one size larger on the main! (If you are lean you will run hotter ) You only need higher octane fuel for higher compression engines. Just because you have pipes, intake mods, or any other bolt ons does not require AVGAS/Racefuel!!! Only when you raise the compression (My prefernce is 180lbs or higher) will you need to run high octane fuel. Mike

It goes on quick fill tanks for GNCC/XC racing. All you do is slam a quick fill jug into the dry break receiver and dump 3 to 4 gallons of fuel in matter of seconds. It takes the place of the standard fuel cap and is a spring loaded plate that opens when the gas probe is forced into it. I can not believe no one here knows what one is. Here is the complete listing of the dry break system. http://www.clarkemfg.com/Merchant2/merchan...ry_Code=fastgas

I guess the childish games have never stopped here at the HQ. If you dumbasses do not know what you are talking about then why post. Oh, I get it a free post so that you can look cool in front of your little friends For those of you that are willing to help a fellow Banshee rider out, here is a link to a dry break receiver. Thanks, MIKE http://www.clarkemfg.com/Merchant2/merchan...ry_Code=fastgas

I need a dry break receiver for an IMS tank. If you have a nice one for sale let me know. [email protected]

Rittercycles.com did carry the Moto Fast pipe.

2 into 1 pipes are an excellent choice for XC or MX (tighter tracks). The power curve is smoother and broader. The 2 into 1 combined with higher compression will make the Shee more controllable and take some of the lightswitch effect out. CAMATV, if the 2 into 1 pipes are junk...Why did Kim Kuhnle run it on his XC Banshee for years in the Pro Class??
