  1. Looking to buy 2 fronts and 1 rear from a site sponsor. I just dont want to spend the money on amazon is all
  2. I am starting out of a 2 car, When the shop is built or I am busy enough to do this full time then its a different conversation.
  3. Like I said, A generation 2 or 3 frame could be something different. I don't think 1500 for a frame that you can register is to much to ask. One that is US made, pretty, and lighter/stronger than stock/ with better pipe clearance. I know I could never keep up making 250R's like that. I have to start somewhere. 10-12 Core products that I make + the stuff other people make. I need a new frame table for each frame. Unless I scrap it. I am aware that a modular frame jig can be good for multiple frame designs. but the setup time between frame types gets to be to much. I will build my product list. A frame is not even my first product. To answer question of "Whats the point?" To make banshees rule the sand again. To be able to have the same joy with my son that I had riding a banshee.
  4. Yes DDQ, I have looked at the yfz conversions. There just isint the room for what I am after. I try to keep in my head that there are people who are going to want to stuff bigger motors and bigger pipes in the Frame. That kind of knocks the 450 out of the conversation. Its even shorter than the 250R.
  5. Once I have the frame table finished and setup I will have measurements/drawings. 12-14k would be for a complete bike ish. I cant sell complete bikes because of the legalities. In a perfect world I would take the laeger, copy it, widen the frame rails there the engine sits and add banshee engine mounts. Easy day done deal. But now I would have just created a bunch of cooling issues. As well as having to run 250R plastics. We would be gaining in the fuel capacity area though as well as pipe clearance. The biggest stopping point on that for me is the spindle/front brake availability. Sure the T-Pin stuff is amazing, but now the costs are getting pretty high and I would be alienating a big customer base. A proper forged aluminum spindle with a bolt on caliper mount would be the dream, but that is a significant cost increase for me. I would need to buy 50 pairs at a go. Maybe in the future or for a 2nd generation sure.
  6. I didnt even think about the BHQ ride. Definitely wont make this years. By next years I should have any bugs worked out.
  7. This is great feedback and food for thought. Do you think forum members would be willing to remount all thier crap on a test roller? I can use the stock leverage angles so that people could bolt their shocks on. I am kind of afraid to send a test frame to people, when you have to cut and change suspension several times it does not stay pretty. Or do I just do a complete bike for people to whore out at Glamis? There isint any real woods around here, just hard desert and soft desert.
  8. The laeger has some neat features, but I do not want the frame to be locked into hard to get parts. Its very difficult to find things like cr500 rear links that are at a price point that I would be comfortable refurbing and reselling. Could I have a run made up? Sure but that drives the initial cost to get started.
  9. I also do not want to use 250R spindles because they are hard to get.
  10. I did want to do some testing. I have the laeger trx500 frame sitting right next to a banshee one right now. I have been looking at how the front a-arms are mounted. the banshee is flat in relation to the rest of the bike and the laeger is uphill. I wanted to test mounting banshee arms in the same way. I think that would make a huge difference in soaking up big bumps. It starts loading the skock/spring before the wheel travels up. There is enough room for a dead copy of the 250R front end, but that kills any hopes of putting a battery between the arms. The battery in that location seems to make a pretty big difference in the balance of the bike with a +4 swing arm. I would like to move the upper shock mount forward 1/2" to make things nicer with a +2+1 a-arm setup. This is just talking about the front end, there is no telling if it would play nice with a linked rear end.
  11. OE replacement, Possibly going to a lighter-bolt on subframe.
  12. The Sundahl frame is a Baja thing. Its really not useful on anything but the hard desert. They are very overbuilt, and strong. Not really what a guy would want in most applications. They also have a very excessive shock angle in the front and rear. That means big springs, big gas pressures and they valving has to be able to control all the excess leverage. That is actually kind of odd considering the heat generation that would cause IE: bad for Baja and shock life. In their intended application I am sure they are amazing. They are very obviously designed to be able to soak up some very large impacts from the front as well as bring able to handle some air. I am in no way talking smack about them, they are a work of art. Just not the application I am going for.
  13. I like the finest scotchbrite you can get with water. follow up with mothers on a wheel, or if you have time neverdull and alot of elbow grease.
  14. Bought a giant ass cold band saw today. WAAAY overkill. but I am quite happy with the deal. It was far to heavy for them to move.
  15. Yea, all about the same price. I was being a bit excessive with the Jig/Fab Table. So I reduced it from 36X72 to 24X72. Dropped the price of the top plate in half. As well as the price of the Legs. The legs are 4x4 .120 so she will pretty much never move of flex. I am using 2x2 .250 wall on the cross rails that get tapered fasteners to weld to/build attachments off of. Next is finding a good used Cold saw. I am going to have to measure out the solid stock for the lower a-arm mounts and have those 4 cut for me. This shit would be a hell of alot simpler if I had a lathe. Thats a problem for the big shop. From my metal quotes and factoring extra for the tabs I am looking in about 500 per frame in material. Thats with me doing all the Labor. If I can sell 1 a week. then all should be good. I will most Likely start doing 250R frames as well. Just because the demand is stupid big there. That square tubing they are made out of is real junk. Finding a straight one will be difficult.
  16. Bought a Swingarm from FAST, its pretty fucking bitchin. Made a Video Sadness for me as now I need a longer one. If you wanna play you gotta pay.
  17. OK so I am looking for a junk tank and a beat tank cover. The tank is fine if it leaks. I am going to bondo it up and have a mold made. I also am not worried about the finish on the tank cover. I am just using it to check for clearance. Please let me know what you have.
  18. I will be buying one of your kits soon, This may be a silly question considering this post. but will other stuff work as a "barrier layer? Or specifically anti Sieze? (Silver, Gold, or Nickel)? It may sound silly but I prefer this gasket maker called "the Right Stuff" I don't care if the bolt fails upon removal as long as it stays in.
  19. Well Suck me sideways steel is expensive right now. 1 G + for material for the jig.
  20. Thank you, well I called a few places and it turns out the price for having these sleeved and new ported CPI cylinders is about 700. Not sure that’s worth it for me. If someone was doing a budget build they would probably be good. Can’t believe how much the sleeving prices have gone up. It’s like 350 per hole from LA sleeve. Millennium technologies is like 619, but for my builds it’s not worth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Well its going to be slow at first. Have to go to San Diego to make the jig at the shop I used to work at. Once I get the frame I am going to replicate up on the jig, I am sure its going to be a few days of cardboard templates for the gussets. I have not seen any metric threaded inserts that I like. I am pondering sacrificing one of my cases and putting a aluminum bar. where the motor mount is so I dont have to deal with in consistent rubber. I knew I should have grabbed that junk set of cases when I saw em. the only part that is extra pain in the ass level for the frame right now is the steering stem pivot. maybe I will have an epiphany on that.
  22. I have one on my new 10 mil. No carbs yet, so I have not tested it.
  23. Sent some requests off for steel quotes today. time to build the frame table. Going for 3'X6' I am bored so I am going to kick out the first prototype out of my 2 car before the shop is done. I have been looking at alot of aftermarket frames trying to look for better construction methods. I dig the laeger swing arm mounts, they just need an insert in the aluminum puck. Planning on .083 for the bend bars and .065 for the straight bars. Should make for a very durable frame.
  24. You didnt leave the stinger assembled did you?
