They're out there. I bought one last spring just like you described for $1500, only mod was an old set of pipes. I just posted a picture of it in the "custom 90's" thread yesterday. Came with original factory wheels and tires plus a nice set of older sand tires. Did some routine maintenance on it and took it to the dunes. Then the fun started. New tires, some bolt on engine mods, better suspension. As of yesterday another $2000+ and the end is not yet in sight! . So unless you get real lucky on your purchase, plan on spending more after you buy. And if you can do compression and leak down tests before you buy, even better.

Good question, I bought model #2473s, 16 psi. Clymers says stock cap pressure is 13.5 - 17.8

Yeah, not real accurate. At least it doesn't leak. I'll probably keep using it, just subtract 20, then check it occasionally to see if it's getting worse.

I bought a Mr. Gasket radiator cap temp gauge about a month ago, it's been showing temps between 200-220 on the dunes in 75-80 degree weather, fast riding. I decided to test it. 1. Boiled water in pot 2. Checked water temp with infrared 3. Put candy thermometer and radiator cap in water Did that 4 times, each time the radiator cap read 20 degrees hotter than the infrared and candy thermometer.

Thanks for that suggestion. I'm hoping to have a set of +2+1 a arms and new shocks on by next summer

I've lived near the St. Anthony dunes for over 30 years but never rode there until this summer. Met a neighbor with a modified Banshee, he helped me find mine this spring and introduced me to a great group of guys to ride with. 1994, blue & yellow, shows little use, stock except for an old set of FMF pipes. I have done a ton of reading here on Banshee HQ. Bought a Clymers manual, took care of routine maintenance, bought new ITP Sand Star dual ribs for front and Skat Trak 8 paddle haulers on back, new Douglas .125 wheels. Cleaned, rejetted and synced carbs. Had rear shock rebuilt. Compression 117/118 at 4900 feet. Made my first passes up Choke Cherry last month and it ran good. This winter: check bushings, bearings, etc., do TORS delete, upgrade from stock air filter. Considering engine and transmission mods but no decision yet. This Banshee takes me back in time, so I'm calling it Time Machine. I like the stock look, so it's going to stay that way. Choke Cherry on Saturday of Labor Day weekend 2015, 3 of the guys I'm riding with and their Banshees, neighbor (red and black) in center.
