  1. Finally putting banshee back together after a long time. Had blown a piston skirt . Bought it years ago and has alot of mods. Has hotrods crank. Cylinders at shop and just got word what they will clean up at. My dumbass should of put back on to measure stroke. Rods measure stock but bottom end of rod looks like it is about as close as possible to edge of crank( close to casing). Been pouring the net asking anything possible. Numbers on the pistons, hotrods, this and that, blah, blah, blah. All i need to know is pin to dome edge height of stock piston. Any one have one lying around to measure just dont feel like making some fancy jig to set it in to measure whether long or short stroke. Im mean come on google...you know everything except the one thing i want to know. Thanks for any input.
  2. Thanks will keep that in mind. Should have word on how far they need to go by tues/weds. But one thing with port work done would have to have replacement done to match. From my understanding there is grinding done inside the actual port and not just to the opening on the sleeve. So wouldnt a resleeve be the best option.
  3. I know they will need the pistons. Quoted me on a set but still researching/shopping around, waiting to hear. Still need to check elevation set up etc. Bought and was set up by previous owner for somewhat local areas to me (cincinnati). Preowner said only run 50% 93 octane and 50% turbo blue if memory is right is 108 if that tells anything. But from visual scored pretty deep have a feeling wont be far from max to clean up. As far as domes i assume dimensions are the same across manufacturers. Want my ducks in a row before moneys spent and things start going back together.
  4. Thanks will look into him. But been reading more and more and alot of folks seem to back his work at boretech over the years. Quoted in door looking at 75.00 a cylinder. But im not set on it waiting to hear what he has to say and more research. As previously stated want shit right. Thanks all. Appreciate any views/opinions.
  5. http://bore-tech.com/Carbide%20Bore%20Process this is the shop and their process. Been around since 89 and did around 478,000 in annual sales. So im guessing their doing something right. And im guessing that is figuring 100.00 per cylinder plus shipping cost for site sponsor. But still just waiting for them to check them out and see what im looking at. Wife keeps asking "how much you gonna spend on it", "as little as possible dear" which means "as much as necessary" . Anyone with some knowledge on domes. Would like to just buy domes and not dump more on whole new head.
  6. Btw camp just saw that your interests are the same as mine. Good choices!
  7. Been a while since it happened. Finally tired of it just sitting. Have moved and all kinds of $hit. Dont know where the busted piston ended up. But it busted part of the skirt off. Believe they were power pistons. One score in cylinder is in the spot where the wrist pin is and didnt look fresh. Looks like a previous rebuild maybe lost a pin clip and let the pin work over and slowly eat at wall. Is deepest just above a port and then gets shallower on up. And just looking at it looks like a good mm atleast or more to the deepest part. The other score is not near pin and is minor. As far as the shop have looked into a bit and they are a good local shop that specializes in racing/performance thats been around quite a few years. Same place previous owner had things done at years ago. Have the receipts:). But like i said waiting to hear in a few days how far out they will have to go to clean up. Just trying to get some input. Want things as perfect as possible. Thanks for any time on feedback.
  8. Also meant to say is there anything else that i should be thinking of/concerned about. Thanks for any help.
  9. Lost piston, pitted dome, couple good grooves in cylinder. Previuos owner appaently had 1st bore done to 64.25. Waiting to hear from shop on them but will surely be maxed to 66mm and hopefully clean up. Has older fireball head with completely flat top not contoured like newer ones on their site. And dont see where they just sell domes alone. May just call them monday. Cant find confirmation that other brands will fit it. Will they? And i assume they can be bought for 66mm bore. Previous owner pretty much kept every bit of paper work and ive been pouring over the net researching. Wanna make sure everything is right. So quick run down from recall and looking at them he had some port work done. believe it was more of a race port than a trail but runs the woods pretty good to me. Has t5 pipes and from papers appears to be boyesen dual stage reeds with stock carbs jetted for the set up and hinson clutch. Hot rods crank i believe is stock. Need to set on blocks to check stroke. Rods appear to measure stock with caliper eyeballed to the centers of rod bearings. But some people saying they only make a long rod 4mm stroke some say both. Its welded and some say they only weld the 4mm. From papers looks like he bought it through vitos and they welded it there. Any input greatly appreciated. Want this thing to be done up right.
