  1. P.s. btw. Turn the vise in the opposite direction your old ladies been turning it on your nuts. You have to overpower on the lefty turn...lmfao!
  2. Im in the middle of rebuild and thinking dollars but in the end what will it cost for a few hours then boom! If your already paying for head, porting, etc?.. im pretty much replacing any wear items that could be upon rebuild. Nothing sucks more than a long trip for a ride then boom your funs over and your "buddies" are off on the trails. Couple hundred for some fresh pistons with matched rings on a fresh build vs. Old piston failure and sitting on quad drinking beer....priceless...
  3. its all stock truck. U joints were new not long before first case cracked. Had busted one and wonder if it had slightly tweaked shaft. How would you go about checking that its true and balanced. Assume a shop may have equipment to set it up in to check it out. Couldnt be much off always ran smooth as a caddilac until you hit that 70 mark to produce the vibration. Like it was either smooth or bad instantly at just the right rpm. Wouldnt slowly get worse. Was like a switch either on or not.
  4. P.s. low miles for 97 bought about 05 with 86k now sitting with about 138k.
  5. Cracked a transfer 1997 with 318. Case without looking i believe is the 216d if i recall. Was always fine until i got near 70mph and would get a bad vibration from it. Would kinda rumble. So kept it below that point but before i could get it figured out i guess i got it a bit to close and boom.. cracked across bottom. Made it home and drove fine at anything under about 40. Above that damn near shake the truck apart. Fyi had original case a year or so before do same thing out of the blue with no warning but a few seconds of vibration. (Had low miles. truck bought from longtime friend owned since new and mantained but always carried alot of weight.) So put this case in from yard that was suppose to have about 70k on it but...who knows. Was fine at whatever speed for awhile then....^^ read possible case pressure problem(that theres some correction for), tweaked shaft, tcase chain slop? Would like to get something bulletproof and understand that there are some older jeep cases that will bolt up. Ideas?... thanks in advance.
  6. Thanks will look into it just want to order the most shit possible without ordering a list of shit. And meant to remention after my pos tablet didnt post my last post last time should i go ahead and do water pump impellar gear, c clips,etc.. while apart. Reading tells me some c clips anc shit that seem fine end up failing upon reuse.
  7. Yeah looked at them and elsewhere. Only ? Is that i see complete engine kits with no listing of whats included. Is there one that has all top/botom end gaskets, crank/trans seals, etc. Of good quality/price. Guessing im buying top/bottom kits, separate seals, etc..
  8. Rebuilding from split cases up. Want to replace every seal, gasket, washer, part, etc.that is a good idea to do while torn apart as well as things like water impellar gear, etc..any recommendation on most complete gasket kits for quality and price from whomever and what things should be replaced for good measure. From reading see that certain c clips and things that may seem fine end up failing upon reuse.
  9. Yeah i think the pistons i just dropped off at shop for honing think it said they were like .003 wall clearance for the bore if i remember correctly may be wrong (left paperwork in box with them). But if your measuring well and getting different around cylinder id say they are out of round. Have a lot of hours on it? Id just spend the few bucks on a shop to take them to the next true round bore and let you know what you need. Bore and hone cheap..kaboom expensive...
  10. Try cheaper than dirt online. Used to be unfindable around me but a decent supply now but with restrictions on amount purchased.
  11. It's cool wasn't implying you were being a dick. Just know it's a touchy subject of pc vs. paint on here. Makes me Lmao sometimes.
  12. Yeah I've thought and thought about which way to go. But probably won't be any basic color. But it's also the satisfaction of doing it yourself. If I had a giant oven I would buy the shit and do it myself. Lol. Never paid anyone to do anything mechanical, construction, etc. Besides tires and alignment due to not having the equip. (Used to work on cars, but now just an electrician.)
  13. come on meow...knew i shouldnt even have asked..ready for beat down on topic .guess you didnt see where i said idgaf. Not trying to win a fucking trophy for best in show. Its a quad not a show car. But let the beatings begin...
  14. I know im getting ready to hear p.c. it...p.c. it...but im not all that anal about it. Gonna beat it up anyway. Just wondering whats out there (paint/primer) as far as quality of finish, durability, and price. Going to sandblast, prep and prime it well. And going to use a sprayer unless there is some badass rattle can paint out there.
  15. 2015, could have it shipped in a couple days. Not like the 6-8 weeks from years ago. Im impatient but damn:). But who doesnt like instant gratification. Lol.
