Its a real simple concept on a 2 stroke theres no valves to adjust no cams or tensioners. Get the clymers a set of good wrenches sockets and a torque wrench youll want all bolts to specific torque specs. Oh and youll need some screwdrivers lol
Id start high amd work my way down im running 300 mains with 27.5 pilots. Go to the the jetting forum and read the thread says "What Jets Are You Using" see what people are using that have some of the same mods n such that might get you close
Ive never heard that statement about the plugs
But like you say 2 strokes are easy to troubleshoot if you have the common know how and listen to others that do know

I hear FAST does excellent work highly suggested in multiple threads same as Redline or Hurr jugs. Im personally gonna go with FAST cuzive read alot about there trail ports
