  1. I was kinda liking this guy until I read the part about avoiding castor oils. He obviously has never built, raced, rebuilt, tore-down, or inspected an engine running castor oil. 927 from Maxima is absolutely the best oil you can buy or make. If you don't know this, you sure the duck ain't no engine builder! Dumb ass Any inefficiencies in hand rolled pipes would be worked out in testing. Either pipe would have fictional loses against the steel. You know we could talk about the repeat ability and accuracy of hydro formed pipes. But the conversation wouldn't last long, because there is NONE. If hydro forming was better, that is what I would do. It's actually faster and easier.
  2. I like the post about my weld rings causing some turbulance or some shit! I really dont care if you put a fucking sock in there. I will test it, change it, make it better. Hydro formed pipes are cool too, and so are candy canes and heated seats. I don't have pics of the new stampings because the die is not ready yet. All my Inframes are handrolled right now. Built plenty of Inframes and more than capable of building a nice looking pipe. I can tie them in a knot, or swing them up over the bars if you like. Done plenty of testing. Been building pipes since 2000. They have computer programs that build pipes? No wonder all the others run like shit! Maybe they should test them at the track instead of on the computer. I love all this overheating crap being the pipes fault. And since when does the pipe pull heat out of the engine? If your engines too hot the radiator is too small. If your plugs or pistons are melting your timing is up to far or your jetting is lean.
  3. I can't honestly answer that question. The pipes where a buddy of mine and they came on his bike.
  4. Ludacrist. Ha, man, I'm dying here! Take the pipe off and see what kind of power you have. Put the ports anywhere you like. When the pipe is built properly it will put the power where the pipe is built too. Let's think about this for a min. If you grind the exhaust port to 200 and raise the transfers to 130 something. This is now a high rpm drag engine? Makes sense I guess. How high will it rev with the stock pipe? Oh shit maybe the pipe DOES control the power band. Shit that reminds me again of how many drag races I won with those stupid stock pipes!!
  5. Hey man. I don't get pissed. Just chuckle a little. Remembering this crazy fucker I built a drag bike for. Had a set of PT's on it. Pretty much cleaned up at silver lake on the holidays. Yea guessing those pipes had a pretty flat curve. have you actually ever rode a banshee you didn't have to shift? How many rpm's you drop on the gear change? This is why you need the flat powerband. Trust me, you ain't out riding me, and I loved those Paul turners. That also reminds me of a few runs at silver lake sand dragway. 4.2's on FMF fatty's. Full frame bike. I had three inframe pipes in testing that day. FMF beat them all. Take a guess what didn't make the cut. Which pipe you think I tested mine against to make faster? If you want serious power run the dyno I guess, if you want to win the fucking race, buy what works. Ahhh who cares anyway right? Oh maybe the guy that's tired of his engine builder telling him how much power he has, but can't run shit.
  6. Actual mid range pipe? The old Paul turners rock! That pipe is hard to beat. Not many pipes on the market can hold a candle to the PT's.
  7. I'm guessing most guys now a days hear this from there engine builder? Hey I really don't know what I'm doing so ill grind the fu&" otta your exhaust port, then I'll sell you some v-force reeds, set of 35's, and a set of shearers. Oh you want Mx. Shit. I'll leave the exhaust low I guess, keep your stock carbs and get a set of fmf's. Sound familiar? Huh.?
  8. If you want the stamped pipe. Yes. Your bore size won't change my pipe dimensions. The stroke will change it. With a bore that big you need big flanges on your cylinders. Big flanges need hand rolled pipes. If you have small flanges, you need a new engine builder not a new pipe!
  9. Ok. Serious question. Let's use this senerio. If you called me up and said I want to build a bad ass Mx motor this winter. I would recommend a few things and price options. You say ill do the 550. Pro port., carbs and the whole deal. Ok. I would build his engine IDENTICAL to a guy that wanted the Pro Port and drag race it. Now. When I build your pipes for this new Mx setup I change the power band to make it ride like it's supposed to and come out of the corners hard. Same engine different pipe.
  10. Uh. Yes. Hmmmm. Is that bad? Not sure how to take your question. If your seriously asking a legit question, yes this is the ONLY way to build an engine. The pipe controls the powerband. The pipe determines when and how long. How hard and over rev.
  11. Nope. Guess not! I ALWAYS tell the truth about what I run, my customers do not. I have race gas that makes more power than alcohol anyway, and smells like gas. Looks like gas, and will pass as gas at almost any organization. Really what matters here anyway is that it is not alcohol. That is what most guys ask.
  12. What does 13.5 mean. Rpm's? What do you mean by overheating? My guess is your timing is too high. This will cause way more problems with heat issues than a stinger that is too small. Nope don't understand shit bout pipes and engines.
  13. Any engine I would build would be built for maximum power for the money invested into it. There should be no difference in porting. Same heads cut same carbs. Same reeds timing everything. Different pipe though. I would run the Hooker on the moto-x and the stripper on the ice track. Two reasons most engine guys keep raising the exhaust port. Number one, the can't build pipes or number two, the can't build engines! This is why Grand River Racing has never had "dune port, drag port, trail port, or whatever port". Our porting is based on the money you want to spend. Yes I do 150. Port jobs. Done many. But don't expect to take over the world with it!
  14. Switch the bowls around. Only one bowl has the choke jet. Make sure that is on the side with the choke.
  15. Yes you can dune ride ANY engine I build. I want it to be reliable and fast. No you don't HAVE to use my pipes, but if you want a set, I'll sell you a set. I ran my bike last year on pump gas. It did suprise me. I had two guys at the track come look in the fuel can after I was talking with them. Don't know how you'd tell anyway! But yes. 4mm dome, got it figured out!
  16. Yes I'm up to date. Haha. I really wish these other guys would get with the program. I haven't seen anything that has impressed me in about 5-6 years. I do spend more time with the little engines, because that is what people send me.
  17. Email [email protected] Phone 616-755-3101. Don't always answer during the day, leave a message. I also text at that number.
  18. All numbers are on alcohol, gas engines usually are about 3-4 hp less. Pro port about 80-85hp have seen 87 once Extreme 90-95hp Outlaw 95-100hp I have seen 102 with this engine but I had bigger reed cages I have built and dynoed all these with 4mm and they are about 4-5 more hp. These numbers are always with Grand River Pipes, stock reed cages, 39 PWK's Dyna ignition with my program, and my head cut. Sometimes the cases are ported, doesent do much. Always a stock flywheel. And some secret squirrel shit that you don't get unless you pay for it!
  19. Really didn't think about the spark arrestor. It would make since to offer one. I'm gonna Have to look into that. I have never built, tested or rode with spark arrestors. The chick brand, I like that. I pack the pipes tight, but they are big. You probably will get burned a few times.
  20. Trans work 1-5 auto $450. 1-4 auto $350. Moto cross cut. $100. Porting on stock Banshee cylinders Pro Port $550. Extreme Port $700. Outlaw $950. Porting on Cubs, Serval, DM, Twister, etc starts at $250. Prices do not include boring or tear down and assembly.
  21. Ok. So new to this. Don't even know what Twitter was. Few guys told me this will work for pics and updates and cool shit like that. Checked it out, and he'll yea. I'll blow it up. Shoulda had cool shit like that ten years ago! Follow us on twitter @teamgrandriver
  22. Really. That's how it sounded? That's not what I meant. Yea that's pretty small. I would have fixed that if he sent it to me. I guess my pipe guarantee is not clear enough. I have fixed many broken mounts and dents. I can handle a stinger swap.
  23. Hmmmmm. 7/8 outside? That would be about .7 inside or close. Yes that is small. I can't remember ever building a set that small. They may have been changed. You didn't want to change them out and you knew that was the problem? Only takes a phone call.
  24. I really can not tell you what big bore means. If you have a stroker crank in your engine the pipe needs to be a different length than the shorter crank engine. This has to be done to put the power band where you want it in the rpm range. They should be called big stroke and small stroke or something similar. Any engine over about 10mm will have to be a hand rolled pipe. Yes this can be inframe. We don't build enough of these pipes to justify a stamping.
  25. This inframe pipe is built in four configurations to match your engine and application. The Hooker is built for general riding and racing where you will be off and on the gas. Dune riding, motocross, ice racing. The Stripper is built for drag racing. Both these pipes are available in stock stroke to 7mm or 8mm to 10mm. Stock stroke to 7mm requires the Hooker Stock stroke to 7mm drag race requires the Stripper 8-10mm requires the Fat Hooker 8-10mm drag race requires the Fat Stripper There is no big bore small bore. If your pipe builder calls his pipe a big bore or small bore, you need a new pipe builder. I'm betting that phrase will be obsolete by spring time now! Maybe by Christmas!
