  1. So its that time of the year where I look over the bike and pick out every problem I can find, minor or major and take the right action and replace what needs to be replaced. So I got my clutch cover bolts off,can anybody tell me the specs for the bolts? I found out my waterpump seal is gone(found coolant in my Trans) and I've finally found the damn air leak.it was my base gasket.so im getting all new gaskets and seals along with pistons.as for the water pump,is the bearing mandatory to replace even if it's not damaged? Hopefully I can get everything done before we get to much snow, few inches is fun to rip around in lol
  2. Yeah im replacing them with a hex head or Allen.
  3. Anyone have any idea how to get them out? The heads where the Phillips bit goes is rounded from the previous owner.im putting in a new clutch and gasket but I can't get the god damn cover off.. All help will be greatly appreciated!
  4. Yeah thats the plan, new top end, crank seals and all gaskets will be changed regardless of the condition the current ones are in.
  5. Soo i took the shee out for a rip yesterday and decided id ride one of the more aggressive tight muddy trails,it was fun,but a slight pain in the ass. Experienced the flaws of the front suspension, had enough low end and mid range to not give me trouble,i was beat after the ride. Now i realize that the biggest weak point is the front Suspension by far.
  6. Hasnt given bad readings for our sleds, its not a 10$ one so ill say im pretty sure its reading right. Did a leak down, found none.ill check to see if my pilot jet is dirty again but it only idles high for about 30 seconds if i dont choke it. When its warm it idles fine.
  7. Yeah found out not using choke on start up caused the rev problem. Did 3 tests per cylinder and all 3 peaked at 100psi.even though i havent lost and performance or and noticeable amount of power loss will it be safe to ride without any worries?
  8. What i thought,no loss in power and has alot of get up and go. Might ride it with caution till the end of the season and rebuild this winter
  9. I held throttle wide open,kicked till it peaked.tester read 100
  10. My shee starts first kick but idles high,it calms down as soon as i pull the choke and idles fine, anybody know why? I also checked my plugs and they are black,so im guessing im on the rich side,my jetting is stock(the bike is bone stock) and gas is mixed 40:1,is this a problem? While I had the plugs out i checked compression, both cylinders peaked at 100 psi at about 10 kicks. And is there a difference between a br9es plug and a br8es plug, when i got my shee it had the br9 and that is currently still in there, would switching to a br8es be better? Thank to anyone who can help
  11. I was thinking lsr arms, works shocks, fmfs or pro circuits, eventually 4 mill crank, itp hole shots or sti tech 4 xcs all around, billit impeller, toomey air filter, and i guess porting( where can i get that done?)
  12. Most trails here are wide open, lots of straights and wide turns, some tight stuff but all of the trails have been redone so they can be used by cars. First ride i went on i rarely used 2nd and 3rd gear.
  13. Yeah my step dad's cousin has a banshee with fmfs and its alot snappier than mine which is stock.im thinking cpi pipes or t5s and a toomey 2 into 1 filter along with a billit impeller.
  14. Dont plan on running it in drags, just for racing around in the trails and a bit of sand. Probably not going as far as porting, mostly blot ons for mods.
  15. Laborer at local mineral mine,i live in a rural part of newfoundland.
  16. Well once im finished this year of high school ill be working for 24$\hour and not have to pay rent so shouldn't be too bad on my wallet, definitely a big portion gone but that's where the rent money will go lol
  17. Yes i already know that aslong as you take care of the shee the shee will take care of you.i have alot of friends that have owned a few banshees and know their way around one. One of my father's friends was also a mechanic at the yamaha dealer here for 20 years so when in doubt i can give him a call.
  18. So if anyone seen my previous posts you would know i traded my 95 big bear 350 2x4 for a 02 shee.when i got the shee it was rough on the edges but not horrible. After a new clutch cable, oil change,a carb cleaning and rebuilding with new airscrews, tires that hold air,and a bit of tweaking i ended up with a great working shee. So i finally cut it loose for the first time today,it was my first time driving a atv with a clutch and first time on a 2 stroke. I was amazed at how natural it felt to drive it was the most fun I've ever had on a quad. The trails here are really wide and smooth with lots of turns, hills and straights so i could really see what it was capable of. Using the clutch came naturally and my style of riding is usually pretty aggressive and fast paced.hitting the powerband was the best feeling ever and opening it up on a straight was awesome, but my favorite thing about it was how fun it was throwing this thing into a turn sideways. I feel inlove with my shee today and i can just imagine how great it will be with pipes and upgraded suspension. So there's my first impression of the banshee,i wouldnt trade it for anything.
  19. So i bought a pair of tires off a friend for 20$ till i can afford to replace all 4,the old ones wouldn't hold air so i needed something.also redid my rad cover. I may pick up a alba pro elite bumper soon and seat cover.
  20. Figured out the problem, both pilots were plugged and the left carb was missing an air screw.cleaned the pilots and 2 new airscrews are ordered, thanks guy's!
  21. Yeah im getting one of my buddies to drop over tomorrow and clean tge carbs and get them synced, also gunna swap out plugs, when i got it the bike had br9es plugs but im almost certain it supposed to be br8es plugs in there.
  22. Well started it about 10 minutes after and it fired up and ran perfect idled perfect and seemed normal, could it be my carb is dirty and one slide may be sticking? Or maybe carbs not synced?
