  1. Just wanted to see if anyone is going to be up at Silver Lake for Apple fest the weekend of Sept 12th-13th. Hope to see some Shees out there!
  2. http://www.toomey.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=vmj_funky.tpl&product_id=42&category_id=4&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=3 $69.99 each from Toomey, seems high for a piece of metal with a screen in it, but thats just me. But then again if you need it you need it and they know it. Thanks for the ebay link SE, they are beat up but $50 is better than $140
  3. In need of some spark arrestors for my Toomey T5's, looking for used to save some cash over the $68 a pop they are new. I am interested in universals that will for as well. Thanks
  4. So I just picked up a banshee and I went to rebuild the carbs and install the tors delete, all that good stuff and I realized that it was a royal pain to try and get the carbs back on (stock air box). This is when I remembered the previous owner put reed spacers on. Is there any reason I should keep them? I would really like to make it easier to do carb work. I could get pods but that's extra money since I already have a decent filter plus I would have to rejet. Bike has stock carbs and boysen rad valves. To me I see no benefit of keeping them, just looking for some assurance.
  5. Success!! Aircraft Remover did the trick on the red stuff. Still not sure what it was but the aircraft remover bubbled it up and I was able to wipe it away without affecting the chrome. Thanks for all the input, Now I can move on to polishing the silencers. Will post before and after pics of the whole system once finished.
  6. I used regular paint thinner, I will give lacquer thinner a try this weekend as well as some fine steel wool.
  7. Thanks for all the help! I decided to go with some paint thinner I had laying around and it worked great... One problem though, there seems to be a layer of a hard metallic red over the original chrome, doesn't look bad except that it's chipped off in places and I would like it all removed. The thinner doesn't touch it. I can chip it away slowly by scraping with my finger nail if I start in a spot where it's already chipped but that would take forever. I am hoping there is something I can use that will remove that without scratching up the chrome. If anyone knows what this is or how to remove it let me know. Thanks
  8. They are chrome, some of the paint was chipping in a spot and it is for sure chome.
  9. Hi all, I just bought a banshee and for whatever reason the previous owner painted the chrome T5 pipes with black high temp paint. I would really like to get the paint off and polish them back the way they should be. I dont know if paint thinner or stripper will also take off the chrome so I am hesitant to try anything until I get some input. The silencers are not painted but are pretty dull so If anyone has a good product that will cleran and polish those it would also be appreciated. I will try to add pics later Thanks!
  10. Hi all, I am new to the forum and new to banshees. I am from Michigan so Silver Lake sand dunes is where I go. My question is, I am currently working out of state and I found two banshees they both run, a 2000, pretty much stock other than a cool head, the other one is a 96, stock, needs carb jetted but starts. Both could probably use a little clean up but my question is, If I get both for $2,200 is this a good deal? plan is to keep one, clean the other one up and sell it. I figure being up at the dunes there will be a slightly higher demand that could pull a little higher price, or will I be stuck breaking even? I know its probably hard to judge without seeing them but let me know your thoughts. Im not sure if they are as sought after as they used to be. Should I just get one and enjoy it? Or get both and try to turn one by sticking a little money into it over the winter and putting a for sale sign on it at the dunes in the spring. Only way I would get both is if there is hope I could get the money back on one what I spent on both. Thanks!
