I was responding to where I've been, you said last picture tells alot, no it doesn't these pistons are the same size as a 513, or 795 the SSshould not be Iin this conversation unless its about the raised intakes and shorter skirts, he obviously knows how to make a performance piston. -

some people work and some play on the internet, why would you compare it to a SS piston? its 8mm shorter and has the intakes raised 8mm? put in a 4mil long rod it will stick out of the cylinder 7mm, it would be impossible to make work. this is why I gave up you cant be schooled you have zero background on this stuff, you buy everything, what you need to do is stop buying everything and try making something, then you can come back saying I tried this and holy shit this is what happened!!!in 74 I blew up a 100cc stage 2 Noguchi and my Dad said we need to understand what the hell you just did, thats how you learn by F'n shit up, if I tell you an equation that you have zero knowledge of you will never get it, as far as these pistons the truth will come out :-) -

what size cool domes
south street speed shop replied to Toomey Man's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
when you get your new domes always measure the width of the squish band and the clearance, never more than 13mm wide on the band and never less than .045 on the clearance, you should not go over 150 psi and use premium pump gas, so invest in a compresion gauge and a roll of 1/8 solder. That way you can measure your width, your clearance and your compression. alot of people make domes and accidents happen so measure, measure and measure again -
Cheetah cub with spacer plate?
south street speed shop replied to slobanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Slobanshee, take a caliper and measure the height of the cylinder, seen where people mill them for different reasons, what stroke crank is in it? maybe someone put a D. Wang 7 mil in it, theres a few 69mm bore pistons if you can get some numbers that would help or pics. A stk Banshee is 4.037 tall so a 4 mil would be .0787 taller and so on so start with the cylinder heigth and go from there, how thick is the spacer plate? and the gaskets?, they are .010, .013, .020 all different thickness, if you get all those dimensions we'll know exactly what's going on. -

all this with 795's!!!!! these are 1mm different!!!!!!! do you get what 1mm can do? NO. I had a friend that worked for the Yamaha Factory GP team, they would send GP cylinders to Millenium, these 500's made 190 RWHP and when they would Nickle plate them they (Millenium) would chamfer his ports and he would go crazy because the cylinders were ruined! because of a chamfer! there is noone on here that could phathom what goes into GP motors, millions of dollars developing stuff, to talk to someone at that level is mind boggling I am done talking to these kids I'm gonna let John take it from here, and NO I have never talked to John but he gets it. Last thing Wiseco is a Piston Manufacturer that knows Aluminum with a certain Silicone content and how to COPY OEM piston's to say Wiseco did anything is ridiculous thay take a print a customer gives them and makes it, they know nothing about ports or port timing, good luck John -

I like your post up to "beat out years of research" I don't know if your speaking of Yamaha or Wiseco, if its Wiseco they know nothing about porting, all they do is copy an OEM design they forge it use their silicon content their engineers like and give the masses a stronger OEM piston, if its Yamaha its the best they can give the "general public" performance and warranty wise, if you purchase a YZ from Yamaha it will never ever have windows in the piston it uses a cutaway, yet it has the same style cylinder and reed, why because this machine was "designed for closed course racing and has no warranty expressed or implied". To compare the 2 is totally unfair a windowed piston would be down on power alot, we wont even get into full skirts! -

meaning that most full skirted pistons are use in motors with plenty of aux. ports, sometimes it is better to sacrifice a lil power for the strength thats needed on the skirts on a large motor, these pistons are 64-66mm bore and to compare them or the stress put on them as your Cheetah isn't fair, your a bit harder on yours than these will ever see :-) -

if you look at this chart from Yamaha, it shows 1,3 and 2,4 which are stock OEM piston, 1 and 3 similiar to the Banshee, if the motor was to be raced they suggest modifying them like the pic marked 1,2,3,4 as the windowed piston is not the best for performance, and the cutaway is better but in stock form is way to long. This is what Yamaha suggests -

Wiseco didn't release this it was custom made! if you take a stock OEM Banshee piston its a 513 just forged, Wiseco knows nothing about porting, a 795 is the same as a 513 with a 5 mil offset, made for a std. stroke long rod crank! Cam you are not gonna edumicate me on anything, Oh and you should run windowed or cutaway pistons it will run better -

you can't, you'd screw it up on assembly and ruin a good thing
