  1. Pretty new to doing motor diagnosis on 2 stroke engines but doing a leak down test should be the same readings for a 4 stroke as a 2 stroke correct?
  2. Everything internal should be stock on it. I bought it 2 years ago not knowing the last time it had a full rebuild done to it or rings for that matter. I am trying to decide whether to throw rings in it and keep running it or just drive it the way it is until winter comes around and then get the cylinders bored and honed, new pistons, wrist pings, and rings. What do you think would be a good idea?
  3. Yes that is wide open throttle. I kinda figured it needs a top end rebuild but just wanted to see what other people thought about it. what kinda number do u think i should have?
  4. I always thought that first kick should be at least half of your final reading number? my first kick was only 30psi and then it stopped climbing at 110psi. I am just under 1000ft altitude (700-800ish) and wondering if those are good numbers?
  5. Well my practice and first race didnt go too well. I had been practicing at home on looser ground getting use to the way I should launch with my added teeth on my front sprocket (thought I would be alright) and the track was super sticky dirt so i would have it pinned in first and still would bog out a bit and have to wait to get into the power band. After my first race getting walked yet again in the start i had a spare 12 tooth front sprocket in my car so i quick swapped it out. the second race i had was against the guy that won the entire heat. I had him in the begining but in the last 20 yards he passed me up. Needless to say i learned a lot for this fall when they have the next grass drag event!
  6. Anyone know about what kinda compression number you should get on the first kick and as a final compression?
  7. This weekend will be the first time I have ever gone and participated at a grass drag event. Wanted to know if any vets or anyone have some advice or pointers for me? any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks
  8. Anybody know where I can find the bushing/seal that is on the stator side of the case that fits around the shifter shaft??? Can not seem to find a seller on the internet, I may just be searching with the wrong words in the search bar but I dont know for sure. Thanks
  9. Wanted to know if there is a large difference between front banshee shocks and front blaster shocks and if id be able to run then on my banshee??? just curiousity on this end
  10. The bar that comes out of the transmission that the shift lever is splined onto the seal is leaking on my quad leaving spots when I park it. My question is whether I can do the seal without taking apart the who motor or if I can just do it as is??? Any questions or comments would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks
  11. If you want fast acceleration go a smaller front sprocket tooth count, if you want top end speed go a lager front sprocket tooth count. you can also play with the rear sprocket and its exactly the opposite from the front sprocket (less teeth=higher top speeds and more teeth=higher acceleration). tire size also plays a large roll in your speed. I have 18 inch tires in the back of my banshee and had bought it with the stock rear sprocket (41 tooth if i remember) and a 12 tooth front sprocket. I HATED IT!!!! I never used 1st gear at all and topped out wayyyy to fast cause of the small tires and lower front sprocket tooth count. Just installed a 17 tooth front sprocket and the new chain just came in today so im really excited to feel the difference!!!
  12. How did you make the chain the length you want. What I mean is how to you personally take the links off?
  13. Just bought a 17 tooth front sprocket for my banshee to get some more top end out of it. I have the stock 41 tooth rear sprocket on it and no swing arm extension. I attemped to install the new sprocket with my stock chain (520-104link) but wont quite fit with the chain adjustment all the way slacked out. My question was if anyone had any ideas of what link chain link lenght I should run? I was thinking a 108 link chain but just dont quite know with the chain stretching after time and such (should I go to a 110 or 112???). I would like the adjustment link anyone else would like it right in the middle but I am itching to get the sprocket on and see what it does! Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!!!

  15. Unfortunatly I dont have extra chain lying around haha. I am thinking a 120 Link but am not 100% sure. If you dont wanna give up what link your running I understand but could you give me an idea if Im close or not? I know stock is a 104 link and the current sprocket set up I have now is 12 to 42 with stock chain and am at full adjustment tightened. I tried installing the 17 front sprocket on with the chain adjuster all the way slacked out but still wouldnt quite go so I am just throwing a guess out there for a 120 link to hopefully get be in the middle of the chain adjustment. Any ideas?
  16. So I order the 17 tooth and got it yesterday. Just to try it out I tried installing it but seems my chain is a bit too short for it even with the adjustment maxed out. Did you have to get a different chain and if so what size?
  17. The only thing I am really worried about is loosing all the power to get up to the top speed. I do mostly short track racing and wooded area but I really want the option of running away from the pack on the long open roads. Will a 17 hold up to it or do you think a 15 or 16 would be better (I am leaning more towards the 17 though)?
  18. Do you have any idea about the speed your getting with 16 and 17's?
  19. Those 2 less inches in diameter must make a difference. You think going to a 16 tooth front sprocket would make it better than stock or the same?
  20. My banshee doesn't seem to have the top speed like it should. I am running the stock front and rear sprocket set up and have 18x11-10 Holeshot ITP tires in the rear. I get through all the gears very quickly and run out of top speed (I was racing my friends KX250F and he said it seemed I got through the gears way to quickly). I bought the quad with the tires so don't know for sure if its the small tires that are robbing me or something else? My idea is to up the front sprocket from the 14 thats on it to a 16. Wanted to see if others would try the same (or had the same problem) or had a better idea whats going on? Any advice or previous experience would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
