i'm still new to the banshee, but shouldn't he check the jetting, say he lives at sea level and bought it from someone at a higer elavation, wouldnt that lean him out?

my impeller gear started to crack and break , some of the debris ended up in the bearing causing it to foul up,, worth cracking that case open IMO..

take her up to sand mt and call it a day

i have a "genuine YAMAHA manual" Banshee 350 1987-2001..... i read all the time about the "clymar" book,, does this book have anything my book doesnt?? i just never hear any of you guys talk anout the service manual i have.. shred or die..

i kno this is old hat,,, wondering the best way to cut my banshee plastics,, i have one bike cut and one sleeper,, i love the sleeper look, but i want to make both bikes look identical,, .....SHAKA

wanted to mention,, i called kevin (HJR) early sat morning,, he returned my call within the hour,,ON A SATURDAY!,,, that sealed the deal for me

once again, thanks to everyone with all the help,, every bit goes a long way in my book,,.. i decided to go with Kevin Herr ,, after reading about him (on this site) and talking with him on the phone, i feel very confident with the service he will provide,, all parts are being shipped tmrw morning,, i look forward to updating everyone with progress. i have always felt a little overwhelmed with these dang bikes ,,, until i came across this site,, makes it fun thanks to everyone..

once again thanks for all the help,, this site rocks

start by taking off plastics , gas tank, carbs.. {a really good washing is a great idea before hand},,, lay out clean towels to put the parts you take off onto.. disconect water hose,, spark plug wires, remove plugs, remove pipes, carefully disasemble head,, {now you get your first peek},, unbolt cylinder and slide off,, be careful not to drop anything into crankcase unless your planning on splitting the case... all pretty straight forward,, check out youtube also for vids,,

ive got the cases split,, been reading about detonation,, still a little confusing to me,, what it is and how to adjust it

so i recently traded for a 01 banshee,, the guy said it had a brand new top end,, i took her out to the dunes and sure enough after about 15 min of riding,she pooped out. after opening up the top end, the left piston had a whole sbout the size of a nickle blown out of it,, my ? is,, what would cause this??? one thing i found was the gear in the water pump had started to break and some of the debris was in the pump bearing,, maby over heat?? just want to avoid this,,,thanks for any help
