I had a 4mil serval and now have a 10mil serval, they are/were very reliable since they were all new parts and built by reputable builders. Now if you just hobble one together it's going to have issues just like anything else.

The albas seem to be getting a great reputation from everything I have heard on here. They will be the next ones I get. I had a 4mil serval with no lock up and ran the hd clutch. It worked but it seemed like it ate clutches pretty quick. I'd get a lockup. Make sure you get an adjustable timing plate since you are going to stay away from the ricky stator Maybe you can find a nice set of lakers plastic for sale on here? I'm definitely a fan of fullboar though lol. If you decided to send your cases out and have the motor assembled by your builder, send the tranny with it and have it pro-mod. It's a lot better than the all stock tranny

The CPI will be fine for trails on the serval. The more you get from the guy you buy the motor from the more you will save. Loose the ricky stator. What shocks are you going with? You don't want oem. Get a roundhouse swinger
