ha ha thanks guys did a test with the amp link cuz you guys saying that its junk and I could tell that it hooked better off the line and in the lower gears but it did lower my top speed by about 6 mph on topend.....it went from 62 mph to 56mph..so the only reason it feels like it hooks better is because its like holding the brake less hp will hook better like you said it drags like a mofo thanks again

all right keep this thread alive!!!!!!! Lots of great ideas. I have been working my ass off on this sleeper project. It didnt run when I got it .....here is what I am going to be running at the fair drags this weekend in the stock class...............mostly bolt ons but I had to get it all done in time for this race and I am on a $100 a week budget tools and parts and I am not very familiar with banshees and have to get on the HQ to figure out not only what to do but how to do it. LOL 99 banshee stock pipes ported stock cages w/ boyesen power reeds pro-design filter kit in the box cut stator plate to around +6 timing milled stock head .055 13 tooth sprocket amp link kenda claws 260 mains clip in the middle Does this sound close for jetting???? 27 pilot I have had this bike for a little over a month now and this is what I have done ...rebuilt the topend traced down some electrical problems, fixed the ignition problem, ported the cages, cut the stator plate, milled the head, lined up the stupid fucking amp link , tuned it in with the timing and got the jetting pretty close this shit is alot of work when you dont know what the fuck you are doing and you have to come to banshee hq and look up how to do everthing. LOL next mods: cut the airbox around the pd filter adapter bore stock carbs to 28 alchy conversion on stock carbs more timing adj plate more compression mill more off head tires othsu radials then I am also going to pipe and port and the weight thing is somewhat covered cuz I only weigh 145 and they do allow a pipe change in the stock class............so I am prolly doing this backwards but I am trying to do the cheap shit first cuz I am poor and the wife put me on a $100 a week budget......and I still havent figured out which pipes I need yet I dont know if I will need more top end hp or bottem end grunt to run with the 4 pokes and I cant port the fucking thing because I just rebuilt it with stupid fucking vitos pistons kit the ones that add port timing that are supose to "simulate a port job" If I get waxed real bad I will ditch those for some wiscos and a port job but thats a few weeks being down when you are on a $100 a week budget I will post back after the race this weekend the fair races dont show the times so I will try to have someone stopwatch me just to get an idea of the times thanks HQ for all the suggestions and info

12 valve cummins all the way there kinda like a banshee you gotta tune em in not just buy parts plus they are cheap to mod/repair all the newer diesels have too much emissions shit and more fragile injection setups new diesels are like the new 4 stroke quads very nice but expensive and you dont even gotta pop the hood to get one to to run pretty good just plug and play so if you like that kinda shit not for me though BUILT NOT BOUGHT The 7.3 is a good work truck motor if you dont mod past a chip

no banshees around that I know of to swap cdi box with. Guess I will go ahead and buy one. does anyone know how to check the stator other than the res test??

I already resistance checked it and it was in range that is the link I used. that link doesnt tell how to load check it or check what the output is........

Ok so I am a dumbass and could use some help with my shee. I have a problem with the spark. I have spark just not every kick. Its like every third or fourth kick she sparks. it hits and sometimes fires then dies. the pickup coil and stator Resistance tested ok and I just replaced the ignition coil. the gap between the pickup is set and I tried it closer and farther and still the same. the magnets seem real weak to me but I have nothing to compare it to. I am thinking the magnets or maybe the stator are causing this. Akheathen tried explaining how to test the stator in the shout box to me but I couldnt understand. I have a fluke meter to use just not real sure what to do. any help would be appreciated thanks Dillon

thanks guys for the responses what I learned was that I shouldnt try to build my shee like a 4 poke for torque cuz the end result will still be less torque than a 4 poke so just do whats already been proven and blow by em on the big end. Thanks for letting me know so I didnt end up with a turd even though I am a dumbass you guys kept pounding me with the same responses banshee hq kicks fucking ass thanks!!!!!!!! I have to finish a couple things then I will be hitting you guys up again for some jetting help Drags started this weekend but I am not ready yet but I will post times and how many four strokers I wax as soon as it happens..............

Would just a mx or cleanup port give me more power just not make it come on later??? cuz I have had a dune port before and it made stupid power really high. which made me no faster in the 300ft with the rest of the bike being stock. I was getting beat when it was bone stock just a little and now have some shit done vitos pistons advanced timing lower gearing better tires pods more compression I havent raced it this way yet still waiting on some parts I was just looking for anything else that I could do for some more low end or if there was anything else that I missed I will post back with some times after I finish some shit and get back to the track thanks

LOL alf I just ordered the reeds from ya this week...........I modded my stock timing plate I didnt know you sold them for 30 dollars last one I bought was 90...... but thats a good idea a 12 tooth sprocket I'll take one pm sent for the sprocket

sand I hear ya everthing you said is right last banshee I had Quad Central dune port + 6 timing and shearer in frames stock swinger and othsu radials I weigh 140 didnt wheely just spun all the time. I couldnt get it to hook. but didnt really work on the setup much. just the motor........ anyways I am not trying to race against drag bikes with what I am calling a sleeper. I am racing stock 450s and raptors and there is a stock class at the local 300ft drag strip. My original post should have read like this rather than sleeper drag bike .................................................................................. Can someone help me with setting up a motor to work on my bike that has stock swingarm for racing the 300ft drags. I am not looking for high peak numbers but mainly to keep the same powerband as a stock bike maybe even lower the sweet spot a couple hundred rpms just to increase the power in that rpm range. Thats why I was going to keep the stock pipes to tame it down in the higher rpms and keep the hit on the power soft just increase the power with other mods that way it is more controllable. The reason behind something so stupid is because I like the length of the stock swingarm for the other riding that I do like some mx and field riding. But dragging is my favorite type of riding so I am looking for the best drag setup for the motor to work with the stock chassis. like I said trying to beat the the fucking 4 pokes So sand you sound like you know what you are talking about what would you do to get the best performance on the dragstrip with the stock swinger and 140 pound rider. Ok thats what I was trying to figure out so stock pipes are not good for anything I thought they were better for bottom end but after doing some searching I figured out they suck everywhere in the rpm range other low to mid range pipes increase power not only down low but up n the upper rpms as well I will switch them whats a list of good low end pipes?? pipes like cpi and rockets dont make the low end like paul turner and pro circuit right???

What other setup do I need for the drags for more traction off the line and low end torque from the motor?? How are the dunlop or othsu radials for drags in loose dirt Thanks for the help guys

Thanks for the responses guys but I dont think you are following what I am trying to do. It has to look bone stock. I know pipes are a must for any good horsepower, I already have the head milled .035, +6 timing plate, vitos pistons, k&n in the box no lid, good tires and lower gearing. It pulls the stock 450s on topend already!! Or if we race on the road I am gone. I am looking for motor and chassis mods for the 300ft drags that will give me better traction and low end. and be undetectable to a non banshee owner. I am just going to try to keep it looking bone stock and see how fast I can get it with a $1000. If that doesnt work then pipes and porting will be the next so when the 4 pokes get me out of the hole I can just blow buy them. but i want to try to beat em at there own game first.......... traction. If its a juicy turd after I spend $1000 then I will throw a set of paul turners on it, those I could probably pass off as stockers. SLEEPER!!!

So the stock pipes are total junk?? Or they just dont make any power up in the higher rpms?? Couldnt I just make more power in the low to mid range rpms with mods other than pipes?? Can you get a port done for stock pipes?? I am trying to get more usable power down low because I already have traction problems and all my buddies that I race are all stock like 450s and raptors , so they hook like crazy and I already have the same top end as them now. well not maxed out top end but end of the 300ft topend And I race the stock class at the fair races 300ft loose dirt. So usable power is what I am looking for not peak power. I guess like a woods setup for dragging lol and I want to tell all my four stroke buddies that its all stock cuz they already know better than to race a piped/ported shee. so maybe I could pass off a set of ptr mids as stock but I kinda want to keep the stockers as long as possible?? so what I am looking for is any suggestions for motor or chassis mods to make me faster in the 300ft drags to a stock piped bike. no strokers or big bores cuz i just rebuilt the topend any mods that are hidden ...............kind of a challenge to me.. $1000 budget

looking for tips on building a bone stock looking drag racer without adding any cubes to it cuz I just rebuilt it with vitos piston kit here is what I have so far 99 banshee stock pipes +6 timing plate vitos power pistons milled stock head .035 13 tooth sprocket cut knarlys dyna hot coil were the vito pistons better than porting for the stock pipes??? what else can I do and keep it looking bone stock It wouldnt run with the piped 450s before I tore it down in the 300ft drags but it was all stock thanks Dillon

Wow thanks for the responses banshee hq kicks ass all these mods need to look stock should I mill the head more than .035 to increase the compression even more?? I am willing to run a blend of or all race gas if it will be a better setup. what would be the ideal compression for my stock port and stock pipes?? cuz I dont want to build for rpms with stock port and stock pipe right?? I went with the vitos pistons because I didnt think a drag port and the stock pipes would work good together. Is it a bad idea to build a banshee for mid range for the drags??? cuz a banshee in the mid range has more pull than the thumpers at full song Trying to get it to hook rather than spin with a shit ton of power. only 300 ft drags stock class usually 400ex's are up front and they are juicy turds they just hook good and dont stand straight up like a stock 450 does. you can cut the stock carbs out to 28mm?? I am going to check into that for sure. PTR pipes???? Do they curve around twice like the stockers?? are they any better than the stockers??

Just got this bike. it is all stock right now . I strayed over to the darkside for a while with a raptor. No port work done yet . Last banshee I had I modded past the point of being able to jump on and ride without alot of work before and after riding. Since this bike is all stock and around my area there is a huge stock class I figure this is the perfect class to exploit and still have a bike to play on and the stock class is way cheaper. I just rebuilt the topend with vitos power pistons. Just got it back together to find out the ignition coil was bad so I thought it needed upgraded but I guess I will look for a stock one and spend that money elsewhere. So here is my build so far I just need some guidance from the experts on here to help me finish 99 banshee vitos power pistons boyseen carbon reeds ported stock cages just took off a dyno port 2 into 1 pipe (good woods pipe) for some stockers and they are more rip and more rpms than the 2 into 1 but I dont think they will keep up with the 450s will a mild drag port work with stock pipes or will it hurt it with the stockers I know this is a dumb question I am just trying to run the stock class will probably switch to flat black toomys or some of the new r2s next on list this is what I need help with need stock coil mod timing plate to +4 is there anything wrong with modding the stock plate??? clamp on filters (pods) what size??? Are the small ones too small??? Where to get them??? gearing????? 300 to 600 ft tracks looking for one gear for both if thats possible Tires: cut knarleys is what its looking like Mill stock head How much??? will run race gas if ness. Trying to do all the boltons and see where that gets me before porting but I already know it needs ported thats what is going on so far........I have only had the bike two weeks!! this weekend I will be doing a leakdown test and a comp check while waiting for parts so any input will help out greatly Thanks Dillon
