ok if there is typos i am doing this on my pos celll... now here is the deal i went thru my bike and cleaned the motor from top end to carbs put all new fluids in and everything well i got it running with a nice idle but the damn thing over heats before it sucked up dust it ran top knoch never over heated at idle or when runing it hard now it overheats when u do both. i messed with the air screw and got it to stay cool when riding it but when i get on it or let it idle same problem occurs. that and it does not seem like the power it should have is there. how do i fix this problem i just cant seem to figure out where the power is amd the overheating issue.... it has a power but its not constant like it should be. seems to have a little lag in it about half way thru. please help me the tors are still on the carbs i have not gotten that far money is tight right now. HELP

unsure of the logics of changing the sprocket

so change the front sproket to a 13 now to i have to change the rear sprocket too or will i be ok just changing the front one -
ok here is the deal i wanna shortend up my gears and i know if i change the sproket i can do that now i have a stock sprocket on there now and i have another one that is a 41 tooth now do i have to change the motor gear as well to make it all work or can i just change the axle sprocket? i am also looking for a really good combintaion for more low end out here where i ride i very rarley use 6th gear so i wanted to try and get more tourqe out of the bike for hills and what not dont need the high end as much but its nice from time to time someone please help.

what r the jugs i pulled the top off where the plugs go into the motor and i noticed one side is smooth and one side is pitted but the pistons are ok. i felt around inside of the piston walls and the are smooth and there was just a little dirty oil in there and some build up on the tops of the pistons. one thing i did see was a peice of plastic in the cooling system around the pistons. so i pulled the plate off the water pump and it has almost desinigrated. so found the over heating problem.

i just looked this up i think it would be good for anyone who wants to learn a little on carbs it answered the few minor questions i had or parts i needed to know Carb parts and info
-
i checked the pistons and the walls and there is no visible scratches or gouges everything appears to be smooth and clean. i am going to clean out the carbs next and see what we have there. just glad the the pistons are ok.. wasnt looking forward to a top end tear down
-
the piloy jet is the one with the rubber nipple attached to the floaters isnt it????
-
yea sorry i forgot to add that into update from what i can see thru the intake the piston walls are smooth i tryed to feel what i could and it felt smooth no scratches or gouges i will reinspect them thru the exhaust side and try to get pics of what i can see. ill let you know more when i know more. i do have one more question i noticed it was back firing when i had it running last and over heating would that have to do with a cloged jet????
-
here is a picture of the inner wall of the piston you can see the dark gas nest to the arrow this pic was a real bitch to take but i hope it helps out i will take more if needed

ok here is the updates as of right now. i pulled the air filter off and there was a shit load of dust in the filter and the 2 into 1 peice that connects to the carbs then in the backs of the carbs there was a good amount of dirt. so i pulled off the carbs and cleaned in and out still have to get into where the jets are and clean them out good. now for the reeds i pulled them out and you can see a little bit of dust mixed into the fuel on them but nothing major.... i lookied inside of the block where the pistons are and i can see dark gas but it looks to be just the left over mixed fuel..... i stuck my finger in the holes to see anything felt like it had a grit feeling to it and nothing everything was smooth. but still tempted to take the top of motor off where the plugs go in to inspect further.. just need some opinions on weather i should or not... i took the reeds apart and cleaned them and the jets are next. as for a compression test i have not done one yet i wanted to get motor cleaned out so i do not do any additional damage. so i am open to all opinions please let me know thanks
-
ok ty i will pull it apart and i will see what i have when i find out more i will reply to this post please keep checking back you all are saving my life with this deal. i am about to go out and tear it down now so check back and i should have some news up very soon. as far as a compression tester i will have to look into it i might know someone who has one but not deffinate...

ok i got it to fire upo and idle by putting fuel in it but it does not seem to run like it should i had it on for about 5 mins and it overheated and blew the overflow cap off along with all the fluid. so yea i took a 400 degree bath face everything. not sure how one day of riding and a little bit of dust. can make an engine be fucking retarted. it ran mint before the plugs were fouled out and the little bit of dust got into it. it idles fine but has a bit of back fire when you give it some gas would that mean i need to drop my needles in my carb down one notch???? as far as the over heating issue would dust have got into the coolent and cloged something. i wish i knew more about 2 strokes. i dont have a tester nor do i have any money to buy one kinda tapped right now out of work..
-
IT DOES HAVE SPARK I DID CHECK THAT YES THERE IS FUEL COMING FROMT HE TANK cuz when i pull the carbs they empty out everytime. i will try the fuel in the top and the compression test not to sound like an idiot but how you do a comp test.

ok here is the deal i went out riding in the desert of arizona last sat and sunday. i ended up fouling both my plugs out so the bike would bog down really bad. i took the bike home and pulled it apart and found out in needed outterwear very bad the carbs were all craped up with dust so i pulled them and cleaned them and put them back in. then i changed out the plugs with brand new ones obviously. since then i have tryed to kick her over but nothing i have been trying for about 3 to 4 days but nothing. so i pulled the plugs to see if there was any fuel in the piston camber and it was dry like something is cloged i dont know what to do please help me.. thanks Jason
