  1. have u unplugged the tors brain up underneath the tank. if someone just cut the wires and didnt unplug the brain maybe could contribute?
  2. the one with the physical jet in the bottom of the well goes on the choked carb. the one on the clutch side. mine had these switched and wouldnt start for crap when i got it.
  3. i just mean that i read up on past posts about timing plates, and everyone says they make a huge difference. then i say something about the lid or a plate and everyone says the plates are a waste of money. no biggie i just think its funny.
  4. gotta love it. hey timing plate is the best thing you can do most bang for the buck. hey timing plate is a joke, dont waste ur money. only in america.
  5. what do u think about double o's way of doing it. i was kinda thinking the same thing he was. u think the intake is still a restriction
  6. i'm kinda starting to think that the cylinder with the choke on it might run a little rich. mine does the same thing. kinda wonder if a little fuel leaks by the choke all the time.
  7. i'm considering it. but thats 55 bucks and would by a billet timing plate. not ruling it out though. i dont like stuff not being "right" on anything i own.
  8. ya i would like to see a pic. i may just cut holes and install those little round filters.
  9. just curious how u guys remove the lids. looks to me like they are an important part of sealing the filter. are u just cutting it across behind the first set of straps? i am curious of a good way to do it without permanantly modifiying the lid like that. also dont want to go to pods.
  10. the one with the hole in the bottom is the one with the jet in it for the choke. that hole is a pickup for the fuel to go into the well. so it needs to go on the carb with the actual choke knob. i just went out and checked mine and it started literally 1st kick after sitting all night. huge relief. look straight down in those deep holes and the bigger one will have that jet in the bottom. shoot some carb cleaner or air through it to make sure it isnt choked once you find what im talking about. if those are swapped it bascially makes ur choke have no fuel supply so when u open it it just adds a little air and no fuel. hope u get it. it fixed mine and im stoked cuz it was driving me nuts before.
  11. hey zr2 dont mean to steal ur thread but i am going through exactly the same thing. i think i found mine though. I pulled the carbs to make sure i had the right bowls and slides in the right carbs and found it. not 100 percent sure yet but 95 anyways. gonna wait for it to cool down and try again. mine had the float bowls swapped. they both have tubes in them which someone says they shouldnt, but one has a choke jet and one has a plug. it would rev up when i pulled the choke but not really start acting rich, now it starts smoking like hell, and you can hold it wide open and it wont rev out with the choke on. all signs of significant enrichment. the jet looks like a little holley jet with notches for a screwdriver. found a old post on here that showed a little how the choke works and steered me towards that jet being choke up. but it actually wasnt even there. you may check this. i dont know how the hell u could ever switch bowls but apparantly someone did at some point on mine. also one slide has two square notches in the top and one has one square notch. the slide with 2 notchs is for the choked carb.
  12. for what its worth, today i put the banshee back together. have 27.5 pilots 280 mains, still couldnt get it to hit a lick. air screws 1.5 turns from seat. but, and a big but, i think im closer. i kicked it about 25 times and had nothin. yanked the air filter shot some carb cleaner down each carb, and the ol girl hit first kick and idled great. so i'm really leaning towards my choke not doing its part. is there any adjustment one can make to change its action? the thing didnt even try to die once it started, and i was able to turn the choke off pretty quick. with it warmed up when i pull the choke out it revs up slightly, but if i turn the air screws in any it pulls the engine down. this seems contradictary. does anyone have an explanation of how the choke works on this bike? does it have some kinda fuel bypass it opens up? i unscrewed it and all the choke itself is, is basically a needle. the pilot jet change and carb adjustment cleaned up it idle and off idle circuits greatly. has great response now and doesnt pop anymore on decelleration. like i said if i can figue this choke circuit out i think i will be golden. i have a tors kit coming, when i pull carbs to install idle screws it think i'm gonna pull the reed cages cuz this bike is supposed to have reeds in it, and in my experience anything thats been changed is a good place to start. and i have the tors unplugged for now at the brain box
  13. as far as syncing goes could you just use two vacuum gauges and tune until they match? i already have one and they are inexpensive and could grab another if that is all that you are essentially doing when you sync them. also do banshee's have coated cylinders? do you use a dingle ball hone or can you use a regular deglazing hone such as what is used on automotive. as i have one of those that would fit but not a ball hone. lastly does a 27.5 pilot sound too big for a bike with nothing more than pipes and reeds?

  15. i'm going through the same thing. just picked up an 05 with fmf fatty pipes and two stage reeds. doesnt start for crap. once its started dont feel like riding. just tore a carb apart and has 260 mains and 25 pilot. read an article and according to it i should ballpark with 300 mains and 30 pilots. does this sound half ass close? gonna try to pick some jets up tomorrow. runs like a striped ape when its warmed up. idles great starts great warm. one kick. all points to lean to me so i'm at least gonna try the pilots cuz it runs good on top.
