  1. Anyone here ride there? It's located in southern MS. I know one member rides there, but I think he just drag races. I'm looking for new places to ride and was wondering if it's worth a 5 hour drive? From the looks of the website and youtube videos it looks pretty good. All the trails around North Alabama seem to be built for 4x4 stuff.
  2. I've looked at a lot of info on the servals. I know 90 HP is possible with shearers but that would hurt the low end so I would stick with the CPIs. Not sure how aggressive your port is? I haven't seen any dyno numbers on the FAST dune port. Jeff said in another post they are worth a little more in HP and TQ and if someone had stock cylinders to port already that would be the cheaper way to go. So lets say for arguements sake, the servals are worth 5-10 in HP and TQ. The real question you have to ask yourself is , if that amount gain is worth the $795 for cylinders and whatever the cost of domes are if you have a cool head or if you don't you will have to buy one (I don't think the stock one can be modded but I could be wrong). So is $1000 worth the little gain?
  3. 3-5 HP per Chopper Bob, he should know he owns a repair shop My link
  4. I believe you leaned out the needle when you went up a notch. I'm assuming that you cleaned everything good when you had it apart. Are the carbs in synch? Just throwing some ideas out there, I'm still learning the fuel system on these things myself.
  5. Well right now the banshee isn't running and I haven't had time to fix it. Hopefully, I can get some free time here soon, but school just starting back is kicking my butt. So the front blaster shocks will bolt right up?
  6. I did a compression check. The gauge isn't a brand name so I not sure how accurate the reading is, but both sides were the same. I did the check cold b/c I didn't want to run it to get it hot and if one of the carbs isn't working it wouldn't be getting fuel to the cylinder and could mess up the walls. Anyways both sides showed 90 psi. I know that is low but with this engine having such little use I don't think the guage is right. The main thing I wanted to see is if the cylinder was lower than the other. I guess I'll tear down the carbs next week.
  7. I don't have a compression tester. I'll probably borrow one tomorrow. Man, I hope it isn't a blown up. I won't have enough money to fix it before I graduate college.... in 2012.
  8. Well here is the history and the situation. My banshee is an 05 bought in 06. It is all stock. I haven't had the chance or time to ride it a lot since I bought it. It probably has had between 5-8 gallons of gas run through it since I bought it, so it has spent most of its life sitting in the shed. I got it out this afternoon to ride it around before I carry it to the sand drags tomorrow, which will not happen now. It was dead on the right cylinder and wouldn't run. It did this some last time but I rode it a lap around the yard and it started firing on the cylinder. Well this time no, luck so I change the spark plugs. I still does the same thing. To try to make sure it isn't the ignition, I swapped the plug wires and still the same cylinder isn't running. It smokes little to none out of the right cylinder and If I rev it makes an air pushing or sucking sound from the pipe almost like a backfire but not really a pop. I'm thinking that the carb on that side may be gummed up or clogged since it sits so much. Any suggestions? I hope this isn't a blown cylinder. I never have done anything to the engine, it is bone stock. I was afraid to try to ride it b/c I don't see it getting any better and figured I could really cause some damage.
  9. Yeah, I know about the big races. I hope I can make the one in Oct. When I was talking about them running late was on regular nights though. I heard the place used to be packed with 4x4, utility quads, etc running. Are you planning on making the race in October?
  10. Man I wish I was. I've run into a few snags money wise and other things also. I committed to helping someone on a few Saturdays, it has rained, etc. I was ready to go last Saturday and I called b/c the owner had told me to call before. Well it turns out that they have decided to start running on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month now. The attendance has been way down this year from what they had told me. I remember everbody telling me about this place back in 06 or 07 and they said they would run til about 1 or 2 in the morning. I guess the economy has caught up with them or something. When I went and watched back in June there were only about 12 running test and tune and only 5 got in the bracket race. It still looked fun though. So if everything goes as plannned I should be running on the 14th this month.
  11. I think that it is probably supplier related also. Race gas tends to hold up better than this junk we get at the gas stations now. I've ran fuel that had set some time... not in a banshee however, it was a race car. As far as Stabil, I personally would stay away from it (nothing against jbooker). I work at a Marine center and that stuff doesn't work! It separates and I have personally used it and had gas go bad on me. Now it may be different in race fuel, but I'm not willing to try it. We took some out of one boat and the Stabil was all attached to the ethanol and the gas was separated up above it. No, ethanol in race gas, but it makes me not want to use it. I'm going to start using seafoam as a stabilizer myself. I've been using Startron to fight phase separation of the gas and ethanol.
  12. Just ask for help on a set up. The person doesn't have to be from AL. What are you setting up for asphalt or sand?
  13. Are the CT's in frame drag pipes? I don't know much about them and drag pipes was all I saw on their website.
  14. I thought about the override, but it isn't in the budget, even more so now. Thanks for the advice though
  15. Yeah mods are probably not going to happen this year with my money situation. I forgot just how bad it was to be a broke college student I have gotten some struts made for it out of 1 inch tubing but I haven't put them on yet. I hope to make my first race in a couple of weeks.
  16. I've used water wetter in race cars. Worked great for me
  17. Thanks for the advice. The tires was my biggest question b/c I didn't want to get something that was totally wrong. I'm going to go watch the index and bracket race on Friday of the outlaw open. I wish I could make it to the heads up stuff on Saturday but work and prior arrangements are going to prevent me from doing that. I'm not looking to get in too deep as far as mods right now, just looking to have some fun until I graduate college. If I do anything it might be pipes. Thanks again!
  18. Yeah low was kinda what I was thinking, but I was hoping I would be able to get away without putting an extended swingarm on it. I know the stock tires are probably not going to hook good. I was thinking about trying the pro wedges. They are having a big race this weekend, I'm going to check it out and talk to them to see how things go each week. I'm not going to do this if they only have 5 or 6 running each week. By the way, they are streaming the race on ustream, just type in outlaw sand drags.
  19. That doesn't look like too bad of a place to me.... too bad it is so far away. I live in Morgan Co. south of Decatur. Man I figured i would have gotten some suggestions by now. I guess not many people check the drag forum or they are all out racing. It rained here most of the day.
  20. Thanks, I've noticed there isn't many of us on here. I think I saw a post where you were talking about some dunes. Are there some in AL that I'm not aware of?
  21. Well since Wilborn's has been shut down in Cullman, AL I'm just left with a couple places to ride that really aren't that fun to ride on a banshee. Not to mention that I have no one to trail ride with so the fun factor isn't there. I thought about setting up for asphalt but I went to the local track that runs a motorcycle class and only 10 were running. I don't feel like the money invested would be worth it. I'm thinking about racing at a local track, Outlaw Sand Drags. I haven't been yet but I believe they run a test n tune with a ET / bracket class afterwards. My banshee is bone stock right down to the tires. I'm a pretty good bracket racer in cars. What would yall suggest doing as far as setting up for running a dirt / sand drag? I'm not so much worried about speed at this point. Any tips yall can think of would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, I'm on a very limited budget too probably $500 maybe a little more.
  22. Well I'll try to play Passtime lol. I've seen a few banshee's go down the 1/8 mile. Not much info you gave us there. I'm guessing 8.53, just because I'm figuring you're not totally set up for running it on asphalt 1/8 mile at this time. Let us know how you do!
  23. Is that yours? I really like the flat black paint. I'm thinking about doing that with my 69 c10.
  24. I sent him a pm about 2 weeks ago and haven't gotten a reply. The last time I looked he hasn't been logged on since 1/21. He may have given up on parting them out since he didn't get much interest at first. Just have to wait and see.
