  1. My info is this,

I bought the bike cause it was run lean and the fella heard a sound coming for the cylinders, so he shut it off and pulled in the clutch. It was brought back to his house and had the head taken off. It only had 10 hours on a rebuild from the previous guy. The boost bottle had caused a small tear in both of the intake boots, and leaned out to the point where it had melted a small hole in the top of the right piston (maybe at largest the size of a match head), but it had scored the side of the cylinder. As I said though, I got to the guys house to buy it, and the pistons were out so he could show me the pistons and cylinders. I turned it over with the kickstarter and it turned no problem, so we temporarily put it back together ( no pistons etc....)and I left. Its only now after I have started to take it apart and have the pistons out that I have run into questions?

  2. I bought an 2001 4 weeks ago with a bad cylinder. I turned it over with the cylinders open (no head or pistons in it) before I bought it and it was fine. The guy put it back together enough so that I could transport it home with no opening to the elements.I noticed that the kickstarter wouldnt turn shortly after I got it home, but I thought that the connecting rod was maybe stuck in the exhaust port or something crazy?. I havent even got to the point where I have pulled the old cylinders of yet. Any ideas of what it might be? I dont want tp put it in gear and try rocking it in case I might screw something up.

  3. i don't really need the desert tank, but would you be willing to sell the plastics separately?

Yeah, if you dont want the tank, you dont want the plastics, as they are cut to allow the tank to sit right.

    Thanks!

  4. Took a quick glance at you photobucket page. No idea who MS is and didn't notice the filler you were asking about. I suspect they used an epoxy to smooth the floor transition to the cylinder sleeve on the intake? I would be leary of doing this for fear the epoxy might come loose. The work looks to be fairly clean. However, the exhaust port looks quite wide for the application you were told they were for based on what I could see in the pics. But depending on intended pipes and target RPM peak you need to factor port area as a consideration. Make yourself a wire jig that fits snug accross the widest portion of the exhaust and measure it to get port width. Then get measurements of the cylinder from base to deck to see if they have been decked at all(not including the sleeve protrusion at the bottom). Then measure from the deck down to the roof of the exhaust and the roof of the transfers. Get back to me with these measurements and I can give you a better idea of what to expect. It's very hard to tell much besides port shapes and how clean the work is from pictures. Measurements would be needed. As for the piston size 1.0mm would be .040 over (65mm bore).

Here is what I have tell me if something seems stupidly wrong.

    exhaust ports o/d 44mm i/d 38mm

    base to deck height 113mm

deck to roof of exhaust 31mm

    deck to t/o primaries 43mm

    deck to t/o secondaries 43mm

deck to t/o boost port 42mm

    deck to t/o intakes 76mm

  5. I got my cylinders in the mail today, what do you guys think?

I was told they were .010 over, but on the top of both pistons it says 1.00mm, doesnt that make them .040 over? Or am I reading too much into it? I was also told that they were coming with a trail or mx port, is that what this looks like? There appears to be filler along the bottoms of the intakes then was smoothed out, does this mean that they have gone thru into the water jacket area? Or is this normal? Its more smooth than a regular casting and has been smoothed out alot.

    Any input would be appreciated.

Also there is a recognizeable M S on the side of the cylinders, anyone we know?

I have to apologize to the guy who sent these to me as I have misread his listing to me, it stated that these were 1 over and not 10 over like I thought.

    Dude,

If it wouldnt be too much to ask you to explain that in lamens terms. Im pretty new to this! Just explain a little about what each of those terms are and I can measure accordingly. I get some of it, and will measure right now.

My present mods that I know of are Pro circuit platinum exhaust, and a K&N filter

My mods to be installed shortly are, these new cylinders and a Vitos head with 22cc domes. I am at 300 ' ASL.

  7. I'm not an expert but wouldn't it be nice to see an intake picture

Here the respnse I got when I posted a shot of the intake

"Cant tell shit from looking at the intakes. Lets see a few pics of the transfers and exhaust."

Im the one looking for advice, Im the confused one?

Hers the intake shot, Im wondring about the filler in the corners?

  8. I'm looking to get preferably a set of white plastics in pretty good condition, but any color will do. Would also like the gas tank cover in black or white.

I have a set of whites, cut fronts and a white desert tank, that gives you 1.5gallons more fuel, $200 + shipping.

    hers the link------http://s752.photobucket.com/albums/xx162/amidlifecrisis/Plastics/
