  1. well i have a powervalved 400cc big bore kit made by FMF its essentially a t-rex kit, they arent made anymore so theyre really tough to find, but if you can track one down i'd say go for it...it hauls ass (or just get some pv t-rex's)
  2. sounds like a pretty good deal to me stock carbs and head can be found really cheap. if i were you, id offer him $300 to start out with. also, i'd go ahead and go through the motor doing a full rebuild to make sure everything is ready to go since you're paying so little for it and it will make you be able to do pretty much anything to your bike down the road if this is your first banshee
  3. hey man it's your bike get whatever pipe you want. will it have low end? yes. will it have mid-top? no. also don't be afraid to re-jet your carbs...very quick and easy all you need is a screw driver to take them off and a wrench to get out the main. all you have to do is take off the bowls you dont even have to tear into the carbs...very simple
  4. yeah i dont think i'd go with the dynoport either. i ride mostly trails too and its good to have some low end torque, but as long as you keep your bike in the powerband through proper shifting you will have all the power you need. also no matter how many trails you ride, you will always want to open it up every now and then and it would suck to just have the bike fall over on the top end. banshees like to be up in the revs and werent really designed to be lugged around like a 4-poke i have a set of fmf gold series with powercore 2 silencers and i like them alot. if i could do it again i might go with some PC's or toomey's but im very happy with my set up
  5. id have to agree im not too sure those 30's could keep up with the boost bottle
  6. what all do you have to do to recharge them?
  7. did you see it coming out the overflow? if not it could be something simple like you didnt get the bowl tightened enough or it needs a new gasket. also, check your fuel lines. one of mine was leaking due to a crack in the line where it attaches to the carb even though it looked like it was in good shape
  8. it has 145 mains and im not sure about the size on the pilots...does it say on them i didnt see any writing on them?
  9. i just bought my bike and it wont idle. it has keihin pwk 35mm airstrikers. I tore apart the carbs yesterday, cleaned them up and blew out the jets with compressed air. The idle screw on the right carb was broken off and it looked like someone just screwed it in so that it wouldnt fall out. so the carbs were synched, but the right slide didnt go down nearly as far as the left. i evened up the screws and re-synched the carbs but it still wont idle. I didnt have much time to mess with it today, but do i just need to screw in the idle screws more or is something else maybe going on? thanks
  10. is there a wiring diagram available anywhere. There is no switch on the bike so theoretically they would be on the whole time, but i have my doubts this guy even used the right wires lol
  11. hey i have two K&N pod filters that are attached directly to my carbs (Keihin 35mm pwk's) i ride a lot of trails and want to get an airbox so i dont have to worry about sucking water into my motor. what is the best way to accomplish this?
  12. hey guys I have a set of RIS headlights on my bike and they look really good but they dont work. i tore the plastics off and looked at them and the guy who put them on did a really crappy job...we just spliced them into the wiring harness by twisting the wires together and covering them with electrical tape. Is anyone familiar with these lights? I don't know how to wire them up and if they need a battery. id appreciate any help you guys can give.
  13. thanks so much for all the help guys i couldnt be more excited with that find i knew it had to be something special. and guys this thing freaking rips! im just a little worried bc we ride mainly trails and the power delivery on this bike is nuts. Thanks a lot for the article i searched online but couldnt find anything. Im gonna ride a little bit tomorrow so I'll take some pics of the whole bike and get them up here!
  14. Hey guys the search is finally over I went and picked up my first banshee this morning! It is an '01 and the guy I bought it off of had no idea what was done to it (he got it in a trade) he told me he knew it had aftermarket pipes, cylinders, head, and carbs. well when we picked it up it had a ton of extra parts on it he didn't see. The cylinders and head are made by FMF which I had never seen before. Please look at the pics and help me figure out what is done to the motor. I have never ridden a banshee before until today, but I can tell this things rips. I really can't compare it to the stock performance but it definitely feels like it has a lot of work done to the motor. Also anyone got any info on the carbs??
