Mods just really dont help sale price very much to some people.
I would pay 3k,but around here if you put it on CL im guess 2500
-
All in all i wouldnt pass up a nice bike because it had j arms, but if i could choose i would go with a arms.
-
I ride with the airbox lid off for performance reasons. But I pay for it by having a wet air filter all the time. Is there any tricks or tips on keeping that filter dry without using the stock lid?
K and N filter lid,or use the lid and drill some 1 inch holes in the bottom.

You should be fine on pump gas, maybe mix 1 gal of race with 4 of regular gas. but with 21cc domes you should be fine
-
check choke tube, parking brake wiring, see if it will roll start
If it will roll start but run like crap and not idle you probably have a clogged pilot.
-
What the hell did two strokes have before reed valves? Was it that wierd intake that went through the crank. My 1970's boat motor has reeds.
-
I have never found cheaper than ebay. Especialy if you run wsm wich i do.
-
i have never had to use loc tite on the flywheel nut,but its a good idea. If my flywheel nut came loose i would be taking off the clutch cove and making sure the main gear nut is still on.
-
I rode a a 4mil that was in the 75hp range with a stock swinger, and the swingarm bearings were totaly gone, and the hole for the swingarm bearings was ovalled out.
Whenever you punched it and it hooked up,the front end would jump up and the quad would shift pretty violently to the left, that banshee scared me.
Stockish banshees are not scary because they are not fast, they just have a violent power curve that makes you think your going faster.

My atc250r would run in reverse, found that out in a crash when it reversed like an 8th of a mile by itself before it rolled over
-
Im always really careful buying broken bikes. If the motor isnt completely ruined, why didnt they fix it?
But if you can get it for 500 and its straight i would buy it
-
no no no, im not into low power, i run most of the time mid to top lol.
lol then you will probably like them. i would like to see dyno charts of r2 vs cpi
-
Well if your into low end power,i wouldnt by r2's

FMF gnarlys are probably the most underatted and undiscovered pipes out there.
If toomey made a T-7 trail pipe and just re-badged gnarlys and sold them they would sell like crazy
-
No im in grand rapids, but thats what i thought i have 2 theories bc it ran fine before we brought it to him, it started hard if it sat for more than a week but if you ran it every couple days it would stat within the first 3 kicks.
1) dude effed it up and now wants me to pay to fix it
2) It was a small maricel that it ran on a compression of 80 lol
I dont know the guy and but i cant say that an 88 banshee wouldnt need a rebuild at some point. Ill have to get it back and tear down the top end and see what i find, should i pull the motor for this project?
I wouldnt tear anything down till you did a compression test. Just screw the tester in 1 plug hole at a time by hand per the instructions, kick it over while holding the throttle wide open until the psi wont go up any higher, usualy 15-20 kicks. If the cylinders are over 110 psi each, and not more than 5 psi difference between the two i wouldnt do a rebuild
-
fmf gnarlys
-
First don't let that dude do it sounds like a ripoff artist. Get a cheap autozone tester and make sure that the psi is really that low. What needs replaced depends on what's wrong. 700 even with parts is super outrageous. Are u anywhere near Cincinnati? Shoot for a top end rebuild I would charge 100+parts. For700 you could rebuild the crank and top end and it could be something simple as a hone and rings
-
So i sold my lil bro my banshee and he brought it to a guy to get the floats ajusted. He said that he checked the compression and it was 80 on both sides. So my question is should i try to do this bc he said he would charge 700 for it. And if i do this what all should be replaced?
-
230 is going to be lean imo. I would try at least a 250 or 260 main.
-
is it missing? Or just sluggish
-
Im about the same elevation as you. I have had a bunch of bikes with just about the same mods.
This is what is spot on for me.
270-280 main without airbox and 260ish with.
27.5 pilot
1 turn out in air screw.
I think it will run ok with 300 main but you will probably make more power down near 280
As for the low end bogging, try riding with the air screw 1/2 turn out, then 3 turns out,see wich one is better.
If it runs better at 1/2 turn your lean on the pilot. If it runs better at 3 your rich on the pilot.

Not to jack the thread, but im running cheaper oil in my trail/mildly modded bikes. If i was running an expensive drag setup,or alcohol or something i would run better oil
-
more compression/timing if you havent already done it
-
Add some bigger carbs to that list. If i were trail riding i wouldnt run a lockup, but you will need a beefy clutch to handle it.
Banshee cases?

Not to get to off topic but the old lt250r-trx250r middle split cases can be a nightmare if they are mis matched
