  1. Hi, I'm getting as NOSS head and I was wondering what size domes I should get for Glamis. I am also getting Porting done. I don't care if I have to mix 110 and 91...
  2. So your eliminating your stock lights or you will have both? If both, just unplug the low beam from your stock lights and use that plug for your lazer stars. That way you can toggle back and fourth, Otherwise you can use either wire. If your still confused give ricky stator a call and Im suer he can tell you EXACTLY what the best thing to do is.
  3. Shoudl I try to port my stock reeds? All I have is a dremel?
  4. I run my illuminators on the low beam because they are only single filament anyways, like your lazer stars, I toggle back and fourth between teh stock and handle bar lights though.
  5. how much are good reeds? Or do I just need reed stops? How much? It does appear to be paint, yamaha seems to have used white gasket sealer (Lithium grease?) What will I need for sealer when I put it back togther? The oil I have been using is YamaLube, mixed just a little over 32 to 1. I guess I could have just put in new rings and pistons. But porting will be much better anyways.
  6. I also find a small ding in the top of one of the domes. WOuld that hurt performance? I think it looks good for being 4 years old, minus the paint thing and the small ding in the top of the dome... Ill post a picture, but is the head still any good?
  7. I pulled the top end off my 4 year old shee, I think it looked pretty good except for this black stuff? You tell me. Ok, so a couple questions, 1) What the hell is the black crap on my reeds, 2) Why is are the piston arms different colors?
  8. Ok I got the whole thing apart, I got coolant everywhere lol but its all apart and this pistrons are off. Cylinders are ready for work. I have been using Yamalube for 4 years and it looks petty clean, except for this weird black shit on my reed cages... Ill psot some pics
  9. Looks like im going too, Only im planning on Pulling my top end off tonght so ill probably have nothing to ride... Ill just bring my Nitro RC and some beer, and head over to olds in my truck I guess. If you see a big radio controlled car come on over and make fun of me for not having my bike.
  10. I have the old service manual that was posted on this forum last year, but the pictures are crap. Anyone have a lin to a site that has pictures of how to remove the topend properly? Thanks,
  11. I think the fastest out at glamis are all those banshees with snomobile engines in them heh. But again I was not looking for a drag port, Riding the big bowls is what I enjoy most. Also I noticed most places clamin that they are the fastest and most rliable...If you go to duncan they are the fastest, Vey's also told me they are the fastest. I would not worry about not getting a port job at that place. Even if all the bikes are from one place, only 1 will be the fastest. + it does not depend on porting alone. Places tell me their port work is great because they get first place in races alot, well I have to think most of it has to do with the rider
  12. after I cahnge my air filter and pipes, and jets (320's I think: it was 10 sizes higher than the number on the stock ones it comes with) I had to remove my airbox lid. The bike idles fine with it on, but bogs and hesitates with the lid on. Have you tried removing the airbox lid?
  13. well Dan is out of town for a while, and I know he is too buisy to port my cylinders by turkey day. I really don;t want to miss turkey day at glamis, i go every year. My buddy jsut had his dune buggy ported and has to run 110 now, id like to keep up with him at least! My other buddy with the NOS crazy all chrome banshee and mroe mods than I know about got in a car wreck and all kinds of parts were stolen off his bike while it was in the tow yard in brawley. he won't be riding for a while as it was serious. but i need to keep up with this buggy! Ill give grand river racing a call tomarrow...So far passion racing seems to be the best deal. patriot the more reputable.
  14. I have a few places I have narrowed it down to, Im leaning towards a one of them, But I don't really have any means to tell how my bike will be different from one place to the next. I mean I hear all these places do great work, the only difference i can actualy tell is price. But Thats not the most important thing.... I have it down to patriot racing, passion racing and grand river rapids racing, all these places sound very good but I have no idea how to choose. Should I just pick one and guess?
  15. I live in San Diego Cali, I ride glamis and would like to have some fun at the hill but especialy on long dune rides. There are preformance shops all over, but if someone gives me a good deal I don't mind shipping things out. I have to take my time with this one since its a one time thing. Right now the best offers I have had seem to be Veys, Sam Co., Patriot racing, and Passion racing. Sam Co and Veys are local but probably more expensive. I need the total cost to be under $700 cylinders honed, new head, pistions rings and gaskets. Also I have never taken my top end off before but my PSI is about 115 105. 4 years on this topend.
  16. Im looking for a place that can gaurante me a certain HP, and that will take the time to work out exactly what I need from a port job. I want to get porting or at least some engine work done really soon but im new to taking apart the engine and everything so I don't know where to start.
  17. Yes at glamis we have huge dunes and wee need to get to at least 4th up them, On hills where I can only pull 3rd with stock gearing I can pull fourth with 13/42.. I don't top out much because in the dunes theres not many places you can reach 6th. I also start in 2nd gear.
  18. everyone at glamis i ride with that has used foam filters has switched back the the K&N. They say the foam filters clog up very fast...sometiems after a single ride...thats a huge pain int he ass... I have been using a K&N since 2000 and ride glamis, i do not clean the Filter every trip just the outwear. I modded the stock filter mount to work with the K&N (single filter not the one with 2 filters) and have had no problems, although it did help removing the airbox lid. Since i stoped cleaning the filter every trip nothing gets int he engin that i can see, not even just a little tiny sprinkle of powder anymore.
  19. hmm looks form the votes like i either got ripped off or i kinda got ripped off (but not that bad)
  20. i liekmy Fattys they were a good price at the time and heve held up well... But id go FMF SST if i was goign to buy new pipes now Get the CPI's if your ported though, hands down
  21. 10$ Cooler Foams 15$ Rubbermaid Cooelr (fits good) 9$ for extra thick cooler strap 4$ for gas can vent cap 9$ for water wetter total 47$ Just wondering what u guys thought, seems a bit expensive to just take some beers with me...when i ride at glamis this weekend, but i didn't feel liek driving all over cause i have been very rushed...
