What are the size of the bolts below the rear axle that you need to loosen to adjust the chain tension?
(not the little 10mm and 12mm ones but the larger ones on each side)
I want to go buy a pair of wrenches for my trail tool box today after work.
Thanks again!!!

Still have the lights? Do you have a water pump cover with the ez drain bolt?
I also want the clutch lever and bar clamp. How much for all shipped to Calgary AB Canada? T3J2N9, Preferred sent by USPS so I don't get too jacked at the border.

Does anyone know about the dripping black goop comming out the back? Is that normal or a sign of something bad?
-
Clean and sync the carbs and make sure the trottle cable isn't in a bind. If it ran fine a month ago, it should now as well. Make sure the choke tube is in place also.
Where is the choke tube? Do you think it came loose?

My 97 sat for about a month since I rode it last. I adjusted the clutch and drained the fluids, refilled them and then it wouldn't start!
I kicked it til' the arch in my foot was beat up and pushed it around the block. Finally it started, but it is running like sh!t for some reason. Won't go into the power band easy and is idleling really high.
I had it running for about 20 minutes and it would keep creeping up the RPM. Then when I parked it a lot of black goop oozing out the pipes....
I'm not sure why it wouldn't start to begin with, and I think I flooded the crap out of it.
Any ideas?
1) I don't know how to adjust the idle. (I'm used to 4 strokes)
2) I've seen two aluminum screws by the air intake wich don't look alligned... ??? (What are they for? Air intake?)
3) Do I need to clean out my pipes?
4) What do you do to keep it starting up in the first 1-4 kicks?

Trust me, they ALL look like that.
Seriously?
I'm trippin' balls over this thinking I need to open it up again to look for something wearing on the outside of the basket.
-
Well I opened it up.
I'm going to try running 10-40 oil instead of the last guy's 80w gear lube and I hope that will make a difference. With the clutch disenguaged the plates really stuck together.
The idle gear seemed pretty tight... well you can wigle it a little. I'm not sure where I can tighten it up.
But the big mystery is the abnormal wear on the outside of the clutch basket. It runs about an inch up from the back and looks like something inside the case is dragging along it but I can't see anything that would do that....
... Can anyone think of what would cause this?
-
Good stuff BenBB and J-Madd, keep it coming!
Also let me know if there are any tools that must get before cracking the case.
That idle gear clip and washer, is it something I can tighten or do I need to replace it?
And to check the disengagement ball and rod do I need to pull the entire clutch apart?
-
After my last ride I checked the gear lube and it looked like ass with tons of metal flake. The clutch isn't disengaging properly, but other than that it drives smooth and has tons of jam.
Does anyone have an idea of what it could be? I'm going to tear it open next week and it would be nice to hear of any suggestions for me to check/replace while I'm in there.
BANSHEE NOOB!

I have a six pack rack made by PRM. I don't know if I figured the shipping correctly, but ups wants $85 bucks to ship the dam thing. I want $30 bucks for the rack, its up to you to figure out the shipping.
Ryan
I don't know about 85. USPS is usually pretty cheap. Send me a Picture if you can and the shipping specs so I can check around.

I'm looking for:
- Rear grab bar with 6pack rack
- Skid plates
-- A-arms Skids
-- Rear swing arm Skid
-- Frame Skid
- Nerfs (prefferably w/o foot pegs)
Extras that I want.
- EZ pull clutch lever
- Alluminium gas cap
- Head lamps or the wire harnest to the lamp
- Shock Covers (red, black or white)
Send or post me a picture and how much you want for it shipped to Calgary AB, Canada T3J2N9.
THANKS!
-
while your inside the cover make sure that you don't have grooves on the basket, if so take the basket off and file down those grooves, this will also make clutch stick sometimes.
Thanks I'll check it out.
I also noticed alot of filings in the oil. The guy I bought it off of said it was a new clutch. When the clutch first goes on does it wear like that?
Also what type of lube should I use? The last owner was running 80 weight gear oil. Spec calls for a 30 weight and I've seen others use the red stuff. (tranny fluid I'm guessing)
-
do you still have the nerfs and 6pack?

I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to cheat and I don't really want to drain the coolant again. Can I adjust it by removing the plastic cover or should I remove the entire case?
If anyone has the clutch open can you take a picture so I can see what a proper set up looks like? I have the downloaded manual but the images suck.
Chain adjustment bolts.
