what is normal compression for a stock banshee
DallasGDub replied to bad ass camaro's topic in General Banshee Discussion
As Kevin Herr once told me, anything lower than 105, it is time to rebuild. Should be around 121 on a stock head. So your WAY below that. With it being that low, you should notice running issues. Have you had any? If not I would try a diff tester. If you still need it, might as well send it off for port and rebuild like J.B said. -
Places to ride in DFW area, Texas
DallasGDub replied to arrythmia's topic in Riding and Events Forum
Sounds good man, just hit me up ahead of time and I will line up a sitter. Red River ATV is the only place up north I have been too. It was cool. I was limited b/c I do not run an air box. Only outerwears. Water is not my homie. lol.... I just now got me some sand tires from Tim on here, so it is on!! Just let me know. Next weekend I am headed to lake Murray for the 1st time. we were going to just camp, but then I heard they have 1k acres of some laid back trails at the state park. So we are now taking the quads. -
I did the same. This is my first quad. I came off a 2 stroke YZ125. I went with the shee b/c I was use to the motor and knew the power of a twin cycl 350 would be wrist breaking with the right mods. I was looking for bang for the buck....I also like the way I would go to parks and I would remember every single shee I seen riding that day. I could not tell you shit about the other quads that were out. They all looked the same to me. the shee sticks out anywehre you are. What I know so far in what little time I have been on one......I will let the others cover the tech aspects, but here is my point of view. Everything is a little more exciting and I seem to have more fun doing the normal stuff than the people I ride with. Yeah you can go fast on a 450, yeah they can go just about go anywhere.....but Nothing..I mean nothing is like being in that 3/4 throttle sweet spot with a ported motor in a 4th gear powerban on a narrow ass trail. It is eye opening to say the least. You feel the front wheels pulling up off the ground from raw power, not just torque.......you get pulled back on your seat and just hold on...the motor sounds like you just gave it a 10 shot of NOS...your thinking "I should let off a little"....but you dont.....hard to explain. I say you find a way to ride both. You will see what I mean. Both quads are great. And as long as you ride, who cares what you roll. Have fun with it. I would love to have a YFZ450 to ride and jump around on until the next best thing comes along each year. But no matter what, I will always have a Shee on the side. I am glad I made the choice I did.

Places to ride in DFW area, Texas
DallasGDub replied to arrythmia's topic in Riding and Events Forum
I am east, just out side of Dallas, so not sure what is over your way. but here are the places I go to. All are great for MX, and ATV. More of a full day trip. For trails I like to hit Rocky Ridge. $15. It is about and hour north of DFW just east of Denton near Decatur. Now this place gets horrible reviews, however, I enjoy it every time. It has a lil bit of everything. Tracks, creek beds, mud, miles of trails, some nice hills, and even drag ways. Not really technical, but laid back riding. More of a weekend trip, Go north about 2 hours and hit the Red River area. $15 to $20. Google Red River ATV and you will get some links for different places. (For dunes, keep going north about another hour and hit little Sahara near Oklahoma City.) For practice, and tuning I hit Brushy Creek. $10. It is east about 30min of Dallas. Some trails, drag way, and a MX track w/jumps. Now there are a few places here and their on the side of hwys, but I try to stick with the official places. I would hate to get hurt and not be able to tell 911 where the hell I am. -
I would have left this feedback sooner, but did not even realize this thread was here. All 3 great to deal with.
-
Thx man, I just hope they are not to short for you like they were for me and the trails I ride.
-
I have spent hours reading advice, replies to others with similar problems, and instructions provided by the Regular Pros. I really have not had any questions that I had to post b/c of the searching for it first......So I am sure when I do run into a problem that has not been covered, they will be the first in line to help. Thanks again!!!

Good looking out. Saved us both some cash.
-
PM pics and price if you have this for sale. Thanks for looking, GDub

I was just talking to him about doing my rebuild and a port job during winter break down. I can't wait. Just a couple months.
-
Been on their for a while, started out at 6k, now down to 5200. Very clean. http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/mcy/794327943.html
-
Perfect...thx man. I am going to turn everything counterclockwise and start my adjustments from that point. I am about 155lbs so should not take to long to get dialed in.
-
Yes, but they are really short. Maybe 14". Not good for trail use at all.
-
I will piggy back on this old ass thread......lol Whats what on the shocks? I have 04's and not sure what screws do what.
-
Thanks again for the deal. Got it in yesterday. You packed the shit out of those things. They were not going anywhere. I will have them on this weekend and will take some updated pics. It is going to make a huge diff.

Time to start playing with another Yamaha.

This classic clip reminds me of that. -
Payment sent.

Yeah I seen your add when I was looking for these. I have some +2+1 on it. I think they will hold up. Those shocks look real nice.
-
Its all good. I sent him an offer, I need some real bad. I have a nice set with oil rezzy, but they are only 13" eye to eye. They are more for hill shot and all I do is trail ride.
