a good exhaust, a 75 shot, and a good rider will get an R1 to 9.0's and high 8's ... thats just the facts .. streetbike engines (in a streetbike chassis and only pushing one wheel) are MUCH faster than people give them credit for ... i just dont understand why its so hard for people to beleive you can pay $10K and have a street legal vehicle that gets 35-40 mpg and can run 9's ...

I cannot find the part im looking for online. And i would really rather not buy it from Yamaha. I need the gas On/Off/Reserve valve .... what is the name of it? And do they jsut screw out and screw in? Thanks

the 4.6's are really choked up from the factory. you gotta get into the valvetrain with some $$$ to get good power out of them ... the 5.0's are a MUCH nicer setup if racing is what your after.. good kill though ... Whipple makles a good S/C for late model trucks

The YFZ is better in every way except its easier to make horsepower with a banshee, and the aftermarket for a banshee is limitless .. but stock for stock the YFZ is faster (assuming the riders are of equal skill)

I've never seen anyone riding with me, or people just there riding that have been hurt from doing a slow wheelie(on known terrain). No you cant go off a cliff or mountains doing it. But the only time i've seen people get hurt wheeling is on dirt at high speeds .... i'll still stand by my statement that you will be more confident and wheelie better after you fall off .....

I always tell everyone thats asks this question to SLOWLY put it on its grab bar and let yourself fall off to see that it doesnt hurt. You will feel aot better about it and it makes finding the balance point much easier.

I was referring to the extra $1500 in a streetbike motor doing high 8's ....

like i said... the machine from the factory is capable of 9's and 10's in the quarter.... and with a 75 shot of N20 said bike WILL be into the 9's. period ...... i've ridden my fair share of streetbikes ... i know what they are capable of ..... just because there 4-stroke, street legal, and are readily available at a fair price doesnt mean they cant be fast. Like the people that have 500hp Mustang's and Camaros think they can outrun my R1 because its a motorcycle with less than half the horsepower rating and half the cylinders and a quarter of the price... lol, not even close. I've had my 05 R1 to the track a few times and the fastest i could run was 10.47 but i also weigh 250lbs.... but if you think they aren't capable of it. ok

might as well buy a street bike. $10K will buy you a 2008 R1 that will do a high second quarter mile from the box..... $1500 worth of performance parts (including nitrous) will turn that into a high 8 second bike .... assuming you can launch half-way decent.

i think it might take even a bit more than that ... a 9 sec flat quarter mile is fast .....

I wouldnt take it to any machine shop, make sure they know what they are talking about and have done it before. hmain shop in my area won't do it. (He says he thinks he could but never has done it for a customer). But theres gotta be something in Fort Worth that will do it.

Ad says around 185hp ... but im not too familiar with the really built platforms like that (triples, etc.) but that bike is absolutely awesome ... but I wouldnt give more than around $11K for it....

i walked around the new mx track looks to be the real deal to me ... if I still had my Kx i would shoot it up ...
