  1. One more question before I get this thing back together. Are the rings supposed to be pinching that little pin in the groove? I have them lined up but they aren't tight against the little pin, and they seem to be pretty loose around the piston not sure how they are supposed to be. I think I still have the stock piston, they have a G and an arrow pointing forward with the number 25 on them.
  2. Thanks for your help guys just ordered a few things from F.A.S.T. Very helpful and nice people over there.
  3. No I have not been turning the fuel off. Should I just get this then .. http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=188
  4. Well long story short, I bought this banshee about 2 months ago. I have been riding it every couple days just about 15 minutes or so each time. When I first bought it, it was not leaking at all. It seems the longer it sits then it will start leaking gas/oil. Just the other day it started spitting gas/oil out the exhaust, and it seemed to smoke a lot more. Also I noticed one side and more exhaust pressure comming out than the other. I have alot of time on my hands so I thought what the hell and tore down the top end. Every thing looks good to me, but what do I know this is my first time doing this. I have a few pictures of some things but they are crappy pictures sorry. The cylinders look real good to me, there is no deep scratching or anything. I tried to get a picture but it turned out to bad to see anything. I took the carbs off and they just seem messed up. They are missing all of the screws it looks like to me. I left all the tubing on, Yes they are really cruddy, I haven't cleaned them up yet. Only tubing on them was the vent hoses and one tube connecting both of them. Would a bad needle cause gas to leak in when it is sitting in my garage if the gas is left on? I guess what I am getting at is what should I do. I would like to keep it a cheap fix. I suppose I could of started slower, and changed out the plugs, checked compression, and rebuilt the carbs maybe, but wheres the fun in that. Should I do a complete rebuild or just buy a gasket set and put it back together. If you want any more pictures for clarification let me know.
  5. Does it matter what I put back in it's place just a long pin with threads at the end and a nut?
  6. Well while I was looking over everything on my newly bought 99 banshee I noticed the rear shock had a little play in it when I was cleaning it. I can turn it a little bit side to side. Further inspection it looks like it may be missing something. I took a few pictures for you guys. I put circles around the areas in question. Looks like it broke off to me since there is no bolt head. Left side Right side
  7. I have some spare 9 inch wheels I just got with my banshee I bought IF you are still interested ill let them go cheep
  8. Nice I just picked mine up tonight its a 99 I got it for 1400 runs awesome. Has nerf bars, fmf fatty exhaust and jet kit. Thing hauls ass. Cant wait to ride it tomarrow.
  9. Illinois.. That will work if they actually had the title in their name, but most of them have bought them with out the title, they would have to then go and get it registered in their name and illinois likes to take 4-5 months for the title to actually arrive if you are applying for a new one. I just used that NCIB website and ran it through there no idea how reliable that is.
  10. I have been trying to find a banshee for awhile now and every one around me for sale does not have a title, besides one. Its hard to find one haha atleast around me.
  11. I'm interested. Do you have a title for it?
  12. Just curious if anybody could check this banshee's vin number I am thinking about buying thanks
  13. Here is a picture of the first one. He said he will take 1500 for it. How would I go about checking the vin number on it? I probably wouldn't need a title myself but just for selling it later on.
  14. He said he will take 1500 for it. He said it has been bored twice and rebuilt once. No title thats what is straying me from it. I found a 99 he wants 1600 for it. Has fmf fatty exhaust, nerf bars jet kit and new tires in rear. 120 PSI compression. and this one has a title. Seems like a better deal to me. Just out of curiosity how many times can you safely bore a motor. Here is a picture tell me what you think.
  15. Im in Illinois. After he said he wanted 1800 I told him I have seen a few on craigslist around that year and said if he could get in the 15-1600 range ill buy it. What all should I check out, compression, what should the psi be if the top end was just rebuilt? Anything else I should keep an eye out for?
  16. Sorry I wasn't sure where to put this topic so I figured this would work here. I am anxious to get back into riding. I am interested in getting a banshee. I found a 97 banshee pretty close to me. The add reads... Brand new vitos top end. New chain, Maijer plastics, renthal bars,Nerf bars, and new chrome toomey t-6 pipes. It looks to be in good condition from the pictures but will inspect when I ride it. Now he said he wants around 1800$ what would you pay?? Thanks for the help in advance
