I'm ready to put my Cub cyl's on my new motor and I'm unsure about using RTV on the base gasket. I bought these Cub cyl's used and had them replated. I noticed RTV residue on the bottom of the cyl's when I first received them. I didn't think you wanted to put RTV on cyl gaskets. Please advise... Steve

The old missing puzzle piece - Help
Arizonaduner replied to Arizonaduner's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thanks Brandon. I had pretty much given up on those 3 parts being in the engine. But I'll keep a close eye out for them elsewhere. The moral of the story is - Never just "Toss" other unrelated parts in with others without leaving some kind of note. Steve -
Well actually it's not a missing puzzle piece, it's an extra puzzle piece. The spring and two washers/spacers (See attached picture) were in the bag with the Shift drum (I could have tossed them in from another sub-assembly by mistake?) and I cannot figure out where they go. I have looked thru both the factory manual and clymer manual and cannot find what they are and where they go. I don't want to go any further on the engine build-up until I figure this out. Any ideas? Thanks, Steve

Just bought some used Cub cyl's from Bansheecub and they arrived as-described. Good transaction. It took apx. 2 weeks to clear customs and ship from NB to AZ which is about normal from what I understand. Steve

I just bought a used Banshee and the owner said he had Wiseco pistons put in. I disassembled the top-end and I need some help in identifying what pistons I have. 513's, 795's, or something else? The only numbers/symbols I can make out are 393L(?) and an eye symbol on the underside. Piston diameter is 66.4mm and pin center to piston top (Not including dome) is 35.8mm. Pin bore diameter is 16mm. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve Tucson, AZ

I've wondered about keyed crankshafts before (Vs welding) and I just ran across one at Vito's performance. It would seem to me that going with a keyway would be a better way to go but they are outnumbered 20:1 compared to welded cranks. http://www.vitosperformance.com/atv_parts/...=200&page=1 Anybody have experience with these? Any thoughts? Steve Tucson, AZ

I need some advice. I need a new crank and I'd like to get a +4mm. I'd also like to keep my stock cyls (Already ported) for now. By using a stroker plate, and two base gaskets, it looks like the port timing will stay close to the same (I feel comfortable altering it a little if needed). My question is, what sort of sealing issues or problems have been encountered with the stroker plates? My alternative, if I don't use the stroker plate, would be large changes to the port timing in the stock cyls which I'd like to avoid if possible. This is what I'm considering: http://www.vitosperformance.com/atv_parts/...=200&page=1 Thanks, Steve Tucson, AZ

Eric, I live in Sahuarita and work at the Komatsu Proving Grounds. I want to catch up with you pretty soon. I'm gonna move on some PWK 35's but I don't know if I should go with the Airstrykers or not. I'll PM you and talk some more about it. Steve

My rear sprocket is toast. When I replace it, I think my choices are 39-43 tooth (It's got a 41T). I would like to keep my stock front sprocket (It and chain are almost new) and most of my riding will be at Glamis. Very soon I will have some PWK 35's, ported cyls, and Vforce 3's. I plan on keeping a stock crank (Welded, but not stroked). I ride pretty aggressive, but just play riding. What gearing (Rear sprocket) would you guys recommend? I've never ridden my Banshee at Glamis yet, I just got it. Should I go with steel or aluminum? Thanks, Steve Tucson AZ 96 Banshee

450 A-Arm Kits!
Arizonaduner replied to 2003LimitedBanshee's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
Brian, I've followed the progress of Mullet man's a-arm project for a while but I just saw that you're now offering "Ready to go" kits. Great job and it sounds like you're getting good feedback from you're customers. I was curious if you have any feedback from guys running non-Yamaha OEM shocks like the TRX450 and LTZ400s? Thanks and keep up the good work. Steve Tucson AZ 96 Banshee -
Thanks. Very good info! Lots of good advice. I'll post a pic when I'm done with it.
