just wanted to say that building my first and his friend who got the banshee are real good guys to do business with. wouldn't hesitate for a minute to purchase anything off them, and they know what they're talking about when it comes to these quads. i'm glad they were happy with what they got and i'm glad i got the room back in my garage. thanks again, guys. -

SOLD to Building my First. thanks to everyone interested and all the quick replies. -
exactly like it says. bought disassembled a few years back to give me something to do while off work after surgery. never got it back together and haven't touched it for well over a year now. converting the shop where it's taking up space into a home gym and would like it gone. have right around $1800 invested as it sits. less than $300 would have it put back together and running. many aftermarket and extra parts. could easily part out if wanted and make money. can answer any questions and send pics. email [email protected] i need to get rid of asap, i'm going this weekend to pick up the weight equipment. first $700 in my hand can load it up and take it away.

i've got an '01 Banshee that i bought off my cousin two years ago. the bike was in pieces then, and is still somewhat in pieces. i've got about $1800 into the bike as it sits but i would like to purchase a car and the bike must go immediately. i need to have it sold asap as the guy will only hold the car for 10 days. the only thing missing from the bike that i know of are pistons and a matching bore job. it would cost me $250 to have this put back together but the only place i used to ride was sold last summer so i have no place to ride and no longer need a quad and i really want this car. i will not refuse any reasonable offer. trust me when i say that i WILL ACCEPT ANY REASONABLE OFFER ON THIS BIKE. i can get any pics requested but it may take me a few days. i live in hicksville, ohio and will be going near the dayton, ohio area to get the car and can deliver anywhere within reason. again, NO REASONABLE OFFER REFUSED. [email protected] if you want pics thanks in advance, caleb

looking for a set of pistons 64.75mm. good shape with wrist pin, bearings, o-rings, and wrist pin ring

in need of stock connecting rods to replace the long rods currently in mine

i think my idea of in pieces may be a little different than most. the frame and roughly 90% of the suspension i have already put back together. the engine is together except for the pistons and jugs. the plastic, gas tank, seat and other misc. items are not back on the bike yet. when i got the bike it was literally in pieces. not a nut or bolt was attached to the frame due to the powdercoating. anyways, i may decide to part the bike out if i can't sell it whole. i really need to get rid of this bike because i have a guy ready to paint my TA for a really good price if i can get it to him soon. anyone interested in parts email me at [email protected] and let me know what you need and give me a week to see if i can sell the bike whole. if not i'll start parting it out. thanks, caleb

I'm thinking of selling my Banshee in order to keep on working on restoring my 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. I would love to be able to keep both and just keep plugging away like I've been doing, but like most everybody else I'm starting to feel the financial pinch of the economy and extra money is getting hard to come by in my household. What I have is a 2001 Banshee that is literally in pieces. I bought this from my cousin when he was hard up for money for $1000. Since then I have put almost $700 into it. That includes having one of the jugs resleeved and the other bored, and having both jugs ports cleaned up. This alone cost well over $300 and was done professionally. I can dig up the receipt if need be. I have also purchased several parts that my cousin told me he had but did not (headlights, kick lever, thumb throttle, matching brake and clutch levers....etc). The frame was powdercoated red shortly before I got it and looks pretty good. It also has yellow ceet plastic, two set of tires (1 set are holeshot), fmf fatty pipes, and a few other aftermarket parts i can't recall right now. the only thing i know of that is missing are pistons. the reason being because of the setup. currently it has aftermarket racing long rods installed. the current bore on the jugs is 44.75mm. i haven't decided yet if i was going to go with long rod pistons and move the bore up to 65mm or keep the bore the same and go back to stock connecting rods and wiseco pistons. i will also give whoever buys the bike all the extra misc. parts that i have for the bike which is numerous. i was given boxes and boxes of parts and pieces and i know for a fact that even after the bike is put back together there will still be a ton of extra parts left. this gives the buyer the added option of selling the extra stuff or putting it away for any future mishaps. i probably won't take less than the initial $1000 i have into it and i'm looking for cash to put into my TA so i'm not interested in trades either. i welcome any private message letting me know if my price is way off in any way. i am by no means an expert on banshees and a lot of you know way more than i do so any help would be appreciated.

Looking for a non running but complete banshee to rebuild so that my daughter can go riding with me. i've got more than enough extra parts laying around from the rebuild of my banshee to rebuild another one. I live in ohio and would be willing to drive within a few hours of my house. looking for any year but has to be complete for as little as possible. anyone have anything or know of anyone looking to get rid of their blown banshee or one that's already in pieces send pics and any info with price included and location so i can mapquest it. [email protected] thanks, caleb

have a pair of 64.75mm jugs that have not been installed since they were professionally worked last summer. discovered my bike is a stock stroke/ long rod setup and need a certain set of pistons that don't come in 64.75mm size so i'll have to go one size up. i'm just looking for an even up trade and i will pay all shipping prices. just thought i'd take this route first and see if anyone wanted to do any trading since i don't have the extra cash i had last summer because of my place of employment seeing tough times like so many others. so if anyone can help out i'd love to have my bike up and running for summer, i just don't have the money to dump into her. thank you in advance, caleb mcalexander

Selling a brand new pair of WiseCo 64.75mm pistons. Bought these a few months back and installed them on my bike to find out it is a stock crank long rod setup. Were on my bike a total of two days before I took them back off and packed them back in the boxes. And the engine never left my workbench. Looking to buy a set of WiseCo 795 series pistons and would like to sell these first to pay for those. $120/OBO thanks, caleb

Bought these a month ago and just installed them on the bike on Wednesday, July 9. Put head back on and the piston topped out. With the help of members on this site we determined that I have a stock crank long rod setup and will be needing 795 series pistons. Therefore I am selling the pistons I just bought brand new. According to WiseCo.com these pistons are $114.47 apiece (part# 513MO6475). I don't know exactly what I paid for them. At the same time I had my cylinders bored and had one of them resleeved and part of the deal to get the labor done cheaper was to purchase the pistons and sleeve through the machine shop. I also traded in a stock Yamaha brand piston and the total came to $360. It doesn't break it down on the receipt what i paid for each individual part so i can't say for sure what i was charged for these pistons. These pistons were brand new in the box not even a week ago. i'll just throw a price out there with a best offer tag attached and highest offer gets them. $140/OBO thanks, caleb

one more question before i go to bed. what are the best steps to take on this? purchase the 795 series lr pistons and take them to the machine shop and have them match the cylinders to the pistons, and what do i need to tell them about porting? is it something they'll be able to tell by looking at them themselves or am i looking for a specific port size. the machine shop i go to is very reputable and nationally known (rather expensive too). thanks, caleb
-
i'm probably just going to go ahead and order the wiseco lr pistons, 65mm, and have the porting done at the same time as the bore. i'm going to try and get all my ducks in a row this time before spending the night in the garage putting the thing back together though. thanks again blowit and slobanshee06, you were very helpful and thanks for relaying the info without making me feel like a jackass. very appreciative. caleb

i was afraid of that. i'll check around and hopefully find another brand in the size i need. thanks again for all the help. this forum has been a headache saver time and time again. thanks, caleb

alright did some measuring and found that it is a stock crank with long rods (5mm). thanks to those who helped me through this. i really do appreciate it. on to the next question though: looked up the 795 series wiseco pistons and can't find the right size i would need. their website says they come in sizes 64, 64.5, 65, 65.5...etc. the pistons i currently have are 64.75mm. so what piston would i want in this case? and please don't tell me i'll have to have cylinders rebored to another piston. thanks in advance, caleb

here are the pics to hopefully make diagnosis easier. Bottom of Stroke Bottom of Stroke, Exhaust Side Top of Stroke, Top Piston Ring just above Cylinder Wall
-
i understood all that. i'll do that first thing in the morning when i get off work. i'll snap some pictures of BDC and TDC and post them to visualize things and hopefully make things easier. thanks again to all.

retrieved some numbers off the crank and connecting rods to see if it may help in finding an answer. only numbers on the crank are 29L and 2. i believe this may be a stock crank. connecting rod numbers are C.K. 158. i'm lost here. the only reasonable explanation to me would have to a longer stroke. i'm not a total idiot when it comes to motors but i'm not a professional either and i just don't see any other explanation. i went and triple checked everything just to make sure i was explaining it to detail and the piston is definitely topping out on the head before it completes its 'stroke' once it tops out, the kickstarter just stops and won't go any further. once i remove the head it'll complete its stroke another 1/8 of an inch (which is where the top piston ring travels above the cylinder wall). i took the cylinders off to check for numbers on the crank and connecting rods and everything looks good (no burring, nothings bent or warped, no freeplay at all....looks great) i'm just throwing this out there to see and please feel free to let me know if i'm making sense here. if the piston is traveling roughly 1/8" higher than it should, wouldn't this make the stroke somewhere around 3-4mm longer than stock at 54mm? it's been a little while since i was in school but if i'm converting it right that should put it in between 57-58mm. i'm just guesstimating things here. i don't have any digital calipers at my house to get exact measurements, but i'm just trying to see if i'm heading in the right direction.
-
i'll do that this weekend. if i find that it's a longer stroke crankshaft what would be the easiest solution? i know they make pistons for stroker crankshafts that fit stock cylinder heighth. would this be the easiest fix? and thanks to all that have put in their two cents. it's been a definite help.

i checked real quick this morning when i got home and the piston stroke from bottom to top is roughly 2 1/8 IN. i check both manuals i had and couldn't quickly find a spec for the stroke length, though i'm almost positive it's in there somewhere. Brandon: i'm on third shift this week and work 12 hour days so after i get some sleep i'll try and give you a call if you'd still like me to. thanks, caleb
