  1. Thanks for the info, Chris. As Benny Hill used to say: Learning all the time, learning all the time.... So I'll see it when I see it!!
  2. I meant how does one adjust caster on these..... lol.
  3. Is that the correct picture for the arms? I get how you can adjust camber by how far the ball joint is screwed in/out but I'm not seeing how you adjust caster. Maybe I'm used to the adjustable heim joint setup on the upper A arm like my Lonestar +2+1's but I thought all caster adjustable arms had a similar design.... The description states caster/camber adjustable. How does one adjust camber on these?
  4. If you have the extra money, pick up a 2005/newer LTZ400. Not only is is superior at every level and something anyone would have fun on but they hold their value so it's like money in the bank... you'll be able to sell it for near what you paid for it. I've had zero issues with mine, I paid $1550 for it and I'm sure I could get that still. A pipe, filter, main jet change and you're good to go!! Nothing is more of a recreational buzz kill that shitty equipment!! My $ 0.02.
  5. My bud's bike is at their shop... he got the hookup!! To say he's stoked is an understatement.... Thanks Patrick. Jay.
  6. If anyone from San Diego-L.A. is heading out to LS and wants to drag my ass out, I'll pitch in. Shoot, I can make you eligible for the carpool lane!! lol.
  7. I guarantee that if you go to Glamis for a weekend or 2, Gordon's will be off your "to do" list forever.... Gordon's is OK if socializing is more important than riding because comparatively... the riding sux. After you figure out the different types of dunes and where they are at Glamis, you can pick and choose your terrain. You haven't seen a bowl until you've checked out the ones just south of the lookout.....
  8. They call the road that parallels the aqueduct to Gordon's from Glamis "The Banshee Graveyard".... I don't think a Banshee can't make that trip!! It's almost 20 miles each way and I know I get about 10MPG on mine... I'm trying to get it together for New Years and like to camp on Pad 3. When are you going and where are you planning on camping?
  9. What everyone is eluding to is that the crank in it's stock condition is weak. The crank pin needs to be welded to ensure the crank assembly doesn't rotate and become out of phase. You can do the basics... pipes, mild porting, jetting etc, but I wouldn't be doing any power launches on asphalt with an unmodded crank. Welcome to the BHQ.
  10. I wanna replace my solid hangers and am looking for some rubber mounting options. I don't like the look of the Cascase offering (and don't see a lot of movement available due to the 2 bolt mod) but saw these T.M. Designworks hangers and am interested. I like how a single bolt would allow a pivot point as well as custom angle choice... Anyone have feedback on them? http://www.tmdesignworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=149&products_id=242
  11. I picked up a set of CPI's for the same type of powerband I think you're looking for to run on my serval. ~~Midrange.~~ Give Cameron a call at Redline and see if he'll validate this pipe for your intended use, or if he has a better choice in mind. They don't rev as high as others that have been recommended, but the torque curve is better. That makes it a win-win IMHO. I'm not recommending them because I need to justify my choice, I bought them because of their particular performance characteristics.
  12. I'm gonna pick up the 24w version: http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/FX-Off-Road-Lamp They have an aluminum housing so you can rattle can chrome it.
  13. It sounds like I'm ordering a set of vforce 4's. 4 years is more than acceptable as a replacement cycle and mine will probably be longer since I'll be running at lower RPM (Serval!!) than you drag guys. I'd read post of people stating after 40 hours their reeds were toast. It was mentioned that the vf4's have an improved resin so it sounds like a win-win. That's what this site is for.... Thanks!!
  14. I like the 3rd world English translation garble... And they hit the buyer with a $199.00 shipping rate on top of the $269 auction price. What a deal!! I wonder how long the warranty is... lol.
  15. If this is an incarnation of Alba Action Sports from Poway, they are well known for their shitty customer service, lack of product knowledge, and overall poor ethics. If it's not, they are certainly on their way of emulating #2 of the other company.... Stock reeds are great.... really?? Let me guess-stock exhaust, airbox TORS, and compression are the best choice too, ehh? Wow.
  16. Hey John, First, let me say I have a lot of respect for your (1)putting up with the personal attacks directed at you and (2), passing along valuable gained experience... so thanks!! That being said, maybe you can qualify a perspective for me.. I'm confused with the reed replacement options we have. I have decades of 2-stroke experience (without dyno sheets!!) and have typically ripped out the stocker reeds and replaced them with Boyesen 2 stage type Power Reeds and realized significant improvement. One factor I appreciate about the Boyesens is that their fiberglass reeds last for years!! Based on my limited experience with carbon fiber, I'm skeptical about the longevity of CF as a material choice for reeds... Is the change from Boyesen to Vforce 4 going to be nearly as significant or is the majority of the improvement already realized by the Boyesen offering? I'm building a fresh 421 Serval with stock porting (casting irregularities removed), running 33PWK's, CPI pipes, and Redline cut pump gas domes for duning use at Glamis. I'm not a dragger, I'm a duner. I don't care about every last bit of power, longevity is more important to me than a couple of HP. However, if they give significant improvement over stock cages with Power Reeds and will last... I'll buy them!! What's the verdict?? :-)
  17. I'm planning on rolling out to Glamis over Thanksgiving Weekend and chillin' on Pad 3 off Gecko Rd. Speak up and we'll disorganize a meetup....
  18. If your a duner, your original tires are way more fun to ride on for the 99.5% you're not launching off the line. I have similar tires that I use (Sand Skate II's) and have a set of 21x12x8-8" Haulers I toss on for dragging. The Haulers hook up 5x better than the v tires for sure but you can't do that "Dukes of Hazard" powersliding the v tires allow you to do. So it's a trade off for sure. I also have a set of Sand Stars on 9" wheels that I like a lot too... kind of an "in between" tire that if I could only have one, they would probably be it. I find I go back to the Sand Skates the most tho.
  19. ^^ I'm glad to hear that... I guess I chose wisely then!! I hope Loco starts a new thread when they post dyno results, pin it, then close it so it remains clean. There will be some that are gonna be unhappy. Whether it be because of base gasket thickness, dome shape/size, altitude or whatever variable can be imagined, they won't want to accept the results with an open mind. Me, I'll just be grateful for their hard work!!
  20. All that work to a set of 66.5mm cyls?? Wow. Yea, that "rush" is why 2-strokes are so much fun!!
  21. It's either stockers or Haulers.... that's all I have available. I'll try the stockers first!! lol Best guess on my original Q?
  22. Since this seems to be Hijack Thread Central, I have a subjective dyno Q to ask: it has to do with the effect of tires on a HP result. (Q) If you use a 80HP quad as a baseline for this example---and you pulled 80HP with slicks. What would the estimated HP difference be if stock tires were used on a following run, everything else unchanged? I ask because my bud's shop has a 2 wheel dyno setup but doesn't have dyno wheels since they primarily test motorcycles there. Could tire pressure alter the result? What PSI should I run on the test on my Dunlop knobbies?
