Every thing is checking out, could my jetting be the problem? 340mains, 25 pilot the jet by the air screw is a 25
-
New wires in harness. They all check out fine?
-
Brand new stator and pick-up. I replaced theold stator because I thought it was the stator. I completely rewired it ( replaced old wires in harness with new wires. I can find no short any where? I don't know if my Banshee had serious hp, displacement is375cc, hot rod crank and rods, was running 17cc domes at 4* advanced and 340 mains, with 112 race gas. There was not much at the dunes that could keep up with it. it would totally smoke the stock banshees. All specs stayed the same during the rebuild except I went with 22cc domes so I could use pump gas. During the rebuild I did not split the case, the cranks seals looked fine and compresion on the cylinders was high 147psi~150psi I am out of ideas! That was why I wondered about the crank?
-
pick-up gap is at .019~.020, new stator and pick-up.
-
Okay, I have been hearing about people welding the cranks. What is the purpose of this? Could my crank have some how slipped and now my timing is way off????????????????
-
okay, so I have replaced the o-ring in the choke, carbs are clean, found a working cdi off a running banshee, and no luck. Would act like it wants to start but will not run. Using the adjustable timing plate tried everything from +10 to -10 it seemed to have the best sounds at around -4. Main jet is 340 and looks like I am way to rich, back fires but will not run. I can not find any air leaks, helpppppppppppppppppppppp!!!
-
thanks
-
So you don't think a bad CDI could cause this? How can an air leak cause it to miss fire or seem as if its firing out of time?
-
Just finnished taking fly wheel off, key was in good shape, fly wheel seemed to be in sound condition. Set the timing back to 0*. it sounded better but still would not start and only back fired and kicked back a couple of times. I am hoping the new CDI box will do the trick. Hope to have it in next wednesday.

bump!!
-
Any sugestions on where to get another o-ring for it? ( the choke, mine is a bit wore)
-
Thanks NYUC I will check it out to see if it rattles.
-
switched? they fire at the same time, TDC and BDC. I don't follow your answer
-
I have checked the timing, the timing is at +4, the pick up gap is at.20, have new plug wires and boots, Can the fly wheel go bad? loose some magnatism or something? Getting fuel! I am going to pull the wiring harness tomarrow and inspect it again and ohm it. I really appreciate the comments and advise, Thanks guys! Oh and about the raptor plastic I just didn't want to look like every other Shee at the dunes. At a distance everyone thinks a four stroke til I fire her up then they all have to come by to see what it is, and when it was running it was great to smoke the real Raptors, You all know what I mean!! Nothing like the power band of a banshee.
-
You got a deal T_Shee Only if you get it running while im away, lol
-
Well crap, I didn't think to check the plastic ,lol. Just put new reeds in, old reeds were not sealing well and one had a small crack. As far as I can tell all wiring is fine. I hope the new CDI box does the trick! Will keep you posted.
-
Yes sir and used a can of carb cleaner on each and blew them out real good, replaces air screw and spring, cleaned pilot jet, air jet, and main jet. All new hoses, etc
-
All electrics are new, except for regulator, cdi ( that will be new when good unit arrives), and wiring harness. Have checked harness and no shorts or bad wires.
-
I'll check that out and make sure it is getting good ground. I have kicked on that thing so much i have had to hire the nieghbor hood kids to kick on it for me. Sure makes a 4-stroke with electric start look good. LOL Oh and every once in a while it will kick back and almost break your ankle, the last bike I had that kick back like that was an old 1986 yz490. Had a devistating kick back.
-
pick up gaps is at .20, they are 28mm mikuni, new cross over tube, bowls have good levels, The ground is at the regulator, correct? That is the only place I have seen a ground. It seems to be good.

Ok, so the banshee quit me my last ride out. It would not start, getting a spark but don't look very consistant. So far I have replaced the following, coil, plug wires, and boots, new stator and pick-up. New top end, compression at 155 -160psi (elevation 3780). pistons 66.5mm, hot rod connecting rods, 22 cc domes, new reeds, cleaned carbs and fuel system. New plugs. It acts like it wants to start but just wont. timing is at +4. Bought a new CDI (AMR stage 2), it came in DOA. sent it back for another one. Anyone got any Ideas or clues, I am almost out of money to throw at it.
-
Thanks Guys I got them ordered from Funks.

I found a web site on here where I can get just the rings, wrist pins circlips and bearings. Anyone have an idea of what site it was or a link to it. Thanks Gary

Magz, I have not found out what the casting numbers indicate, but im going to keep searching. I'll let you know what i found out. I sent an inquiry in to Hot Rods maybe one of the techs can enlighten us. If you find out anything please let me know. Thanks Gary
