  3. Any chance you have a set of knobbies, front & rear? How much?
  4. Was it recently rebuilt because that sounds like top end going out to me.
  5. 1) What type of aftermarket exhaust do you have? - Paul Turner Mids 2) What type of airfilter do you have? - K&N 3
  6. From my experience bogging usually means a rich condition. Definately try air screw first. Just be sure to adjust both carbs the same.
  7. It can certainly be a number of things. I would also check your air screw on the bottom of carb. If turned too far out it will also cut out and die as you described. Should only be 1 1/2 to 2 turns out max. Good luck.
  8. Any easy way to clean out a crankcase with out splitting case. Need to be sure I dust out any possible sand.
  9. Good read but still unsure. I have weiscos in the one that sucked sand. We shut it down before it had a chance to seize. On my other Shee it is still a stock bore with OEM pistons. Again I am only running milled head. But I am not on eto just cheap out. So looks like I will go with the Weiscos again. Thanks to all fo r quick response....
  10. I am doing a top end on both my Banshees. Question is: What is difference in pistons? Cast vs. forged? big difference in pricing. Both are stock except for milled head and pipes. The engine did not seize. I sucked sand on one and the other just needs refreshed. Can I reuse the pistons and put on new rings or just go ahead and replace completely. Only do dunes riding. Do not race.
  11. I have had 3 blasters. sounds like you are either way to rich or its your top end. I ran 32:1 and always use 91 octane. I was jetted anywhere from about a 260 -290 main....open air box wK&N filters and preskins.
  12. When I did mine (Milled head also) I used a gasket sealer. Copper spray adhesive for gaskets. Cant remember brand. Then I torqued slowly and made several passes only tightening a little each time until torq reached.
  13. When I had my Warrior the only time it would cut out was when I had a stator issue. Once fixed it ran great. The poping you describe sounds like too lean. Mine did same thing. Stock Pilot is a 42.5...I went to a 50 pilot in mine. Just be sure to reset your fuel screw on the bottom of carb to about 1 1/2 turns and adjust idle as well. Main jet stock is a 145. take it up a couple also. Mine liked it rich. Try a 160 main. If your air box is opened up you could probably go a little higher. Do a plug check to be sure. Also get a manual. It come's in handy.
  14. If you don't mind the maintenance get a Blaster....My boys rode Blasters till age 15 but it was lightly modified. Full milled head and Ct pipe, open air box W K&N.. They rode the Shiat out of it.....other wise the 300 Honda or Yami Warrior..Very dependable.....just my .02 cents..
  15. Since you are in there go ahead and have your crank trued and welded...

    tires

sand sharks will be fine. nothing too aggressive. the tires need to be able to spin...more hook up will bog you down..
  17. you will definitely get pulled over. Don't do it......it makes us duners look irresponsible and with all the enviro wakos it just adds fuel to the fire to try to close more of our wonderful dunes.....ride safe.....
  18. anyone have the Alba Pro Elite Nerfs? I just got some second hand but I am missing the mounting hardware. Anyone have pics of these nerfs. Where do they mount?
  19. Speaking of Iridiums....How many have actually used them....I am thinking of giving them a try....any feed back......
  20. you will run leaner in cold and richer in warm...cold air is dense so more of it...warm air is thinner so less air = richer. ever watch heavy airplanes try to take off on a hot day. takes a lot more runway than on cold days.....best bet is if you are running on warm days with out bogging then no worries. Richer is better. for colder days do a plug chop and adjust as needed.......
