  1. I reused the gasket...the cover came off nice and smooth. it's an '06, so the gasket hasn't been on for an excessively long time. I took it around the house for about 20 min. and pounded her pretty good, no leaks, so I think I'm good. Thanks
  2. Thank you very much, I won't worry about it then. Another question though, what signs will the machine show me when/if it starts to overheat? I've never had it happen, and I would like to keep damage to a minimum if it ever does.
  3. I hate asking stupid questions, but I don't have time for research or testing, so here goes. I just had my clutch cover off, and obviously lost some antifreeze. Once everything was back together, I filled the radiator...about 1 1/2 quarts. My question is does this sound like the amount I would have lost, or do I have to do something to get antifreeze circulated to somewhere else and add more. If so, how much should I have to put back in total to be full (approximately). Thanks for any help...I go riding in a week, and work 70-80 hours between now and then, so I don't have much time to experiment.
  4. One of my riding buddies just got a trailtech vapor, and he can't figure out what temperatures to set for the warning light or the overheat light. If anyone around here knows/can make an educated guess/can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. Thanks
  5. thanks, I'll be gentle and hope for more luck than I usually have.
  6. I'm going to be pulling my clutch cover early next week, and I was wondering what the odds are that I will be able to reuse the gasket? I'm hoping I can because I'm not sure I can get one beforehand, so if I can't reuse the one that's on it I need to rework my schedule to pick one up earlier. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  7. I got mine in the middle of last summer...it went on ok, but I know what you mean about the tight bracket...mine was a close fit there. It rattled bad until I put little pieces of foam in 4 different spots between the skid and the frame. Enough of the bad...mine has taken a couple of huge hits, including one that almost took me off the machine in 3rd gear, and hardly has a scratch to show for it....impressively solid in my book....very happy with it.
  8. got mine new from the dealer...after I broke it in I ran it hard until it was dry to see what the limits were and I had 3 hours and 10 min. on it. I get much worse in the winter on the snowmobile trails, but I'm still over 2 1/2 hours. When I had my '89 it got around 4 hours. (close to stock)
  9. The first quad I owned was a blaster, but I figured out real fast that it wasn't big enough for me but I loved the feel of a 2-stroke. A banshee was the next logical machine, but I thought they were the ugliest machines I had ever seen. One day a friend of a friend brings his 'shee out to our riding spot, and I get talked into taking it for a ride....3 minutes, a couple of fields, and a big ass hill later I realized I was sitting on the most beautiful machine that existed. Sold the blaster and bought a '89 'shee a couple months later....complete basket case. I owned it for 4 years and it ran for 6 months of it. I sold it for money to buy a '79 camaro, and swore that someday I would own another, but I wouldn't ever buy a used one again. fast forward 7 years, new job, freshly married, with a kid on the way and in the middle of buying a house, and a coworker at the new job informs me that the banshee won't be available after the '06 year. I head to the dealership, and they have a '06 SE sitting there...I love purple, so black and purple was perfect. I go home, tell my wife that I have to buy something, and she was very supportive. I told her that if we couldn't afford it later, I would sell it. She knew that was complete bullshit....that if I got it I wasn't letting it go, but she let me go get it anyway. Less than a week later, I was hauling her home. I will keep it until I can't ride her anymore also, but when that happens, I'm giving it to my son....I fought too hard to get my 'shee to give her up to a stranger.
  10. You can definately count me in for one. Just let me know where, when, how, and how much to pay.
  11. I need to get some skid plates(belly and swingarm for sure) sometime this month for the spring/summer riding season, and I need some help. From looking around, I've decided to go with either Pro Armor or PRM, and I was wondering if anyone can give me some pros and cons for either set. The Pro Armor set is cheaper, but it isn't a huge difference. I was also wondering what everyone thinks about A-arm skid plates....are they useful or a waste of money, cause to me, it looks like they just protect the paint. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.
  12. Thanks for the support everyone. My knee has a "tibial plateau fracture" and a possible miniscus tear. The weight bearing surface of the lower leg bone got too much pressure in one spot and shattered. The MRI looks like a windshield that had a rock hit it but the bone all stayed right where it belongs. I'm 27, and the doctor spent more time telling me about the arthritis in that knee and knee replacement by 50 than he spent telling me about what I have broken now. I had 3 knee surgeries in high school, and the doctor then told me I would need my knee replaced by 25...aparently I've earned another 25 years since then. Merrill is in north central Wisconsin, very close to Wausau, if you have any idea where that is....if not draw a line straight north from madison and straight west from Green Bay, and that's where I am. Middle of nowhere, but some great riding. We should definately try to get together this summer once I heal up some.
  13. I just wanted to say hi to everyone out there, introduce myself, and tell a "laugh so you don't cry" kind of story. I've been a member since late summer when I finally bought a new 'shee (I was without an atv since I sold my last 'shee in '99). I'm from Wisconsin, and I've was looking forward to getting out on the snow and ice since I picked my machine up from the dealer. We finally got enough snow to play right around christmas, so I went to my brother-in-law's to go for a ride. I warmed the 'shee up with a couple laps around the yard, then got off to go see what was taking him so long in the garage. Halfway there I slipped on the ice and heard a pop in my knee :: . 3 fractures in the joint, and I'll be on crutches until the snow is gone and the mud is plentiful. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi, and thanks to those who gave me advice and help in the fall.
  14. Hi guys, I bought an '06 SE new 3 months ago, and have had some problems (mostly with the dealership :: ). I have solved all of them all except one, and I'm not letting the dealership near my machine again, so I'm hoping someone here can help me. Simple problem...when I'm just cruising (1/4 - 1/2 throttle) down the trail for 30 sec. or more and come to a stop, she idles high. If I give her a minute, it will come down, or I can rev it to get it to come down. If I'm riding hard before I stop, it idles fine. The machine runs great otherwise. I've been told to adjust the idle/air screw, but I honestly don't know which way to go or how far. There is also the possibility that the motor sucked in some dust, don't know if that could be the problem...the carbs have been cleaned well, but the problem stayed. Stock machine with a UNI filter, 1300 ft. altitude, needle on middle clip (3rd), 220 mains. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Count me in........this would be the perfect first mod to my new machine
  16. I've been hitting Oblivion pretty hard lately too. 360 gamertag - Thumper79
