  1. k I just got some new carbs tonight and I need to jet them in but I forgot what I was suppose to jet them at. they are brand new 35mm pwks and they came with the dgk needle. I have cgl needles as well which ones do I run and what clip do iput it on 3 down or 4 down. what size pilot 50 or 52 and what size main 165? this is a 421 cub with paul turner pipes. its also been decked 40 thousanths to lower the4 transfer ports. im running race gas(110) and will be riding at the beach in oregon. please help. I was thinking I will start just a little rich and then lean it down a little when I am on the sand. thanks all
  2. ok so I have those damn decrative billit caps of the buts and cotter pin that hold my hub on. well I need to get at the nut so that I can get it tightened down but I dont know how to get those billit caps off. never dealt with them before they were on the bike when I bought them. thanks for the info
  3. ok so if you have a stock stroke engine with mild port and run too big of carbs you will lose some low end power. I ran 33pwks on my drag port bored .40 over it ran great didnt have a problem. kidna came on like a light switch though. now im at a 421 cub and I bumped the carbs up to 35s. personaly I like the pwks they are a great carb and have never had a problem. stay away from the lectrons. for what you have you do not need them and they are a bitch to tune in, very touchy. but great for alky. and airstrykers are more for a mx bike. if you are dune riding I would definatly stay away from them.pwk or pj carbs or even mikuni are personal preferance. it really all depends on where you want to go with the engine. big bore stroked then get something like 33s to 35s. if you are going with small bore dune port then you can get your stock carbs punched out to 28mm and it will work great. I have some 33pwks for sale if you want them
  4. I know some people run av gas wich is usually like 104 octane. and most race gas is 110. vp and sunoco have many different versions of race gas. some going up to the 130 octane. another plus to race gas is that your engine will run much cooler. because of the fact that higher octane gas burns slower and much more efficiently it decreases the temp of the engine. will keep chrome pipes chrome. if you up your compression you will have to run race gas. or at least 50 50
  5. most likley its your bushing going out on you clutch. its an easy fix. while you have it apart check the brass bushing that is on your idler gear. that can also make a chatterin noise. I would definatly get that fixed before you ride next
  6. how deep are you going to get into this? there are some good small things you can do. like timing and head and carbs and pipes and ignition. before you port it I would definatly go with a 4mill crank or largerm, its up to you. but its a lot easier to port an engine after its got a 4mill then doing it the other way around, if you want to go to a stroked crank later. a stroker crank will give a good boost in power. and then later down the road you could either port the stock cylinders or go to a cub. its a direct bolt on. I just went to a 421 cub and love it! save yourself the hassle of having a builder trying to line up the port timing when you want to go to a stroked crank later.
  7. im looking for a set of 35mm pwks. I have 33s and need bigger. no airstrikers but looking for something larger
  8. anybody else have any carbs for sale or trade?
  9. I have good room between the carb and clutch lever. the cubs sit a little higher so it gives more room. im just worried about the filters and what not. I need to find some carbs before the 24th. not sure how big I want to go. but mine are for sale even if I dont get any other news ones before then.
  10. im looking for some 35pwks. I am going to be running race gas so the alky doesnt do me any good but thanks for the offer. I am not sure if I can fit something that big inbetween my frame cause im running paul turner pipes and there isnt much room in there.
