  1. I have a billet cover and then there's the whole side cover. Is the spring behind just the billet round cover, or is it behind the whole black one? Thanks for the help.
  2. So here's the problem. The banshee will shift fine up and down to every gear. The problem is the shifter doesn't return from a shift. If you're downshifting, it stays in the "down" position and will not downshift again till the lever is brought back to center. center being the middle of the arc the shifter makes. My buddy has a clymers, so I'll have that when I tear into it. I'm really hoping I won't have to split the case. So, has anyone had this happen before or does anyone have any advice?
  3. I think there was a great article on \\\"How to ride wheelies\\\" in last months Dirt Wheels. I hate those stupid articles. If you\\\'re near some dunes, learn there since it won\\\'t hurt that bad when you fall off. Don\\\'t be afraid to scrape the grab bar a little (i said a little, don\\\'t grind it off and break your subframe). Also, about 3 to 4 beers will help out tremendously. This is all assuming you have the required modifications to properly do a wheelie; the Boost Bottle(for that immediate throttle respose there so known for), and the rainbow colored power bands(they\\\'re less harsh than the strait, i mean single colored ones.) And always remember to wear your hat backwards when attempting wheelies for the first time.
  4. I agree with everyone that 90% of the riders out there will never touch the potiential of a newer 600. hell they probably will never get to the limit of one of those old FZR400's Yamaha made that handled so well. Having said that. Any 600 made after 2000 Has way too much power for the inexperienced rider. But they're going to buy one anyway because they look cool, chicks dig'em and they're wicked fast. I really think a liter bike is easier to cruise on, they don't stay in the upper RPM's while casually crusing down a canyon road like a 600 does. Honestly, the 750 is the way to go. But if you don't want a Suzuki, and dig the undertail exhaust, get the R1, CBR1000, or the ZX10. Although, I'd really Think about the Kawi. that thing is a rocket. Push, you're right about the stunts. With a liter, you'll pull up a good standing wheelie anywhere south of 90. Try that on a 600. Oh and the chicks love wheelies! Back to your wife man, I really hope you two pull through this and live happily ever after.
  5. I know how you feel man. My wife was very insecure when we first got married and moved in together. It was a pain and caused allot of grief between us. I had just gotten to my ship in the navy and when I got back from 6mo deployment, I had a ton of money and bought a brand new \\\\\\\'01 929. That bike might as well had been another woman. It was the center of most of our arguments. I wanted to spend my free time riding with the guys instead of hanging with her and so on. She never dropped the D bomb, but she was very pissed. I sold it later to pay some bills when I left again, and then Insurance pretty much made a bike impossible for me. Looking back on it. I\\\\\\\'m really glad I had the bike. It was as much fun as my banshee is now in allot of ways. However, if I would\\\\\\\'ve kept it, i would be in jail now. No shit, i did something grossly illegal everytime I sat on that thing. So keep that in mind. As far as advice for your girl. I really feel like all that grief helped us out allot. If you really love her, and it won\\\\\\\'t affect your life financially, buy the bike. If she really leaves you, then, no offense to her, she\\\'s a selfish controlling bitch that you\\\'ll never be able to have a happy marriage with. If it causes a huge deal and you guys get through it, then you\\\'ll be happier with each other. Don\\\'t lose your girl because you want to show her who\\\'s boss. Be as respectfull as possible and don\\\\\\\'t get mad just because she does. Women aren\\\'t logical creatures most of the time(sorry to the ladies if that pisses you off, just going off my personal experience there). My wife is a different woman now. Loves going to Glamis and letting me ride with the guys. It\\\'s not about showing her who\\\'s boss, it\\\'s about looking at the situation logically, and if it\\\'s something you want that doesn\\\'t negitively affect your realationship except that she just doesn\\\'t want you to have it, then BUY THE BIKE. It might help if you don\\\'t keep her in the dark about it, try to involve her as much as she\\\'ll let you. She might warm up to it when she\\\'s in the stealership. Oh and one more thing, if you want a sportbike, get one, you won\\\'t be happy with a cuiser if you want a crotch rocket, and don\\\'t buy a 600. The GSXR 750 is probably the best bike out there, but the 1000\\\'s only way 20 or 30lbs more, and you\\\'re just going to want one anyway. Sorry for the long post and good luck.
  6. Sure, most people don't want to do the jobs that mostly immigrants do. However, they are ILLEGAL aliens. If any of us drive our shee's on I-8 to glamis, we're going to jail and loosing our quads, but it's ok to come across the border, knowing it's illegal, and then get pissed off when someone asks if you have your green card, that's bullsh!t. However, it's not all the immigrant's fault. It takes two, the worker and the employer and we should be going after both. If you're employing an illegal there ought to be a penalty stiff enough to deter the money you'd save by hiring them. A fence isn't going to do anything, and the politicians know that. Take away the jobs and the ability to work without comming here legaly, and you've fixed the problem. And while there at it, make it a more streamlined process to work here as an immigrant. Have companies list how many open jobs they need to be filled, take applications and don't charge them a huge fee. They're already hurting for money, that's why they're filling out the damn apps. Any politician who says they're serious about immigration reform and isn't pushing most of these points ought to be kicked out of office for lying to the people who elected them.
  7. I got those HP numbers off LRD's site because it was the first one that popped up. And I got the 47Hp for the V off atvoffroad.com where they tested one after it's intro. Not sure if all ATV's are dyno'd at the wheels or flywheel? Hopefully someone where can let me know. I still don't know why Kawi put the damn auto on there, why not put the 400's or 450's tranny in there and a chain. Makes it more efficient, lighter, and easier to tune/replace. Oh well, it's almost like Kawasaki didn't make the Vforce to be a real sport quad (that one's gonna really piss you off huh?) Sorry, but I couldn't help myself. They each have there own niche, but the 400 is more of a sport quad than the 700 is.
  8. Z400 375lbs, 35hp with a pipe..........so 10.5lbs per HP Vforce 516lbs, 47hp stock, so we'll say 50.......10.32lbs per HP So really close, now add the loss of HP through the auto tranny and the shaft drive. The 700 has allot of tourqe, so it'll be very very close. Those are the facts enforcer. Get a really good rider on the 400, and same weight, and I'd put my money on the Z400, especailly if it were anywhere other than pavement.
  9. where are you located?
  10. Come one man, so now you're lumping the 400 with the 450's as all "small framed quads"? I only do dune riding these days and I've ridden a z400, a yfz and the new LTR450, and with the exception of the ltr's suspension, there really isn't a huge earth shattering difference in the amount of enjoyment you'll get riding through the dunes. However, take away the clutch, add about 120-150 lbs , and add the physical size and the 700 is in a different class. It's like kinda like a sport-touring motorcycle for the quad world. I'm glad if you're enjoying it, good for you, but on a MX track(god, thinking about jumping that thing is scary), hard baja riding, or pretty much anything other than strait drag racing, the majority of people would enjoy the z400 better. And to Tithead, all these 400's, whether its the suzuki or kawi, are fun quads. It'll never give you a thrill-ride induced hardon like the shee does, but it's still an awesome bike that'll hang with most bikes out there. Why do you think you see so many of them out there?
  11. Thanks guys. I was just entertained for.....13 minutes reading this whole posts and laughing my ass off. My boss thinks I've gone crazy. Come on Enforcer, you're really joking with us right? Ha Ha, funny joke. Just look at the facts, the V has shaft drive, it's a fully automatic drive, It has a utility quad's motor, and it weighs over 500 pounds. Those are the facts. If it looks like a utility, it sounds like a utility...... you get my drift. And I don't think everyone's beat you up enough about your comment where the 400 and a blaster are basically the same. Have you even ridden those quads?
  12. So I thought I was done, but I'm not. This type of shit really gets under my skin. I hate helmet laws, I hate seatbelt laws. I hate the fact that vehicles have gotten considerably safer, easier to handle, can stop soooo much better than the 60's and 70's it's not funny, but the speed limits are basically the same. I know, wearing helmets and seatbelts save lives, and so do 65mph speed limits, but so would a hans device in every car, and a rollcage, and 35mph speed limits. It's not up to our government to regulate our life decisions, and it's our fault they are. When I used to hear old timers talk about how america was going to shit, I just thought they were living in the past. However, I think when my kids are adults(they're 8mo and 2year old boys), I'll be very saddened to see what kind of bullshit they are putting up with then. I think we all have to bite the bullet and realize that it's almosts impossible to reverse some of these things, such as helmet and seatbelt laws. But the next time I see a restrictive law being put on the books, I'm going to do my best to organize some type of community voice so it's not just the same old people arguing on CNN or Fox, but not getting anything done about it. Sorry to rant, but I'm beginning to hate everything I hear reguarding the govenment we have to deal with.
  13. So Youtube took the video off for copyright infringement. So does anybody have it saved and if so could you send it to me? I'd love to see this commicrat bullshit video. I live in CA and I haven't really seen this yet, but if it's really comming like you guys are talking, I think we should organize a protest and really get some attention on the stupid laws that don't really make our lives better.
  14. has anybody used the fusion paint on a clark or ims large gas tank? i'd like to pick one up off flea bay, but can't ever find a decent looking white or grey one.
  15. Sorry to dig up this old post, but is there anyway to paint one of these and it last at least a season or two?
  16. Sorry to dig up this old post, but is there anyway to paint one of these and it last at least a season or two?
  17. That's about it, bought a set of domes off him. Price was good, shipping was quick and I got a free gun lock. Thanks for the good service Holeshotkid.
  18. was there a couple of guys out by the wash 11, one on a yfz450 with a flat and a purple banshee with ohlin's all the way around? I'm pretty sure they said they were there from NY. If so I'm glad we were able to help them out. Pumped up the guys tire and got it back on the bead and sold the other guy some race gas to get him back to camp. I know what you're thinking, we didn't rip the guy off, charged him like 10 bucks for a couple gallons.
  19. Here are mine. It's a big picture, but you should be able to get a good look at it.
  20. That's a good point. However, the picture on their website is an adult. God know's I was a little shit growing up. I hope this guy wouldn't have went this far if it's just a bunch of kids being dumb. ehamburg? what's the case?
  21. thanks for showing up on the post hamburg. I agree that we all need to work together on these issues. I hope you find the guys who disrespected your place. Just realize we're not all like those guys, just like we're starting to see that you're not like the crazy liberals who want to shut down all ORV sites. If you send us pictures of guys doing stupid crap, I'm pretty sure allot of guys would love to put these assholes in there place. So good luck.
  22. when I was a kid, we used to have bb gun wars. There was always that one asshole who'd pump is gun up 30 times. Hurts like a bitch. But really, nobody reads your posts, they just stare at her bending over and slipping that skirt off.
  23. That's a good idea, but.......i doubt they'll be willing to conceed. And if I were in there shoes, it'd be a cold day in hell before i'd let any of them Mother F&$*# ride on my land. I know that's probably not the best solution, but if somebody had been giving me shit on my own land.........I think they should have the right to shoot them bastards. That's the way it used to be, somebody trespasses, you tell them to leave, they don't, they get shot. End of story. I do enjoy Wallrat's posts just so I can look at his stripping avatar.
  24. Good idea. Just sent it to him.
  25. I read over that site and decided to give them a chance to elaborate on what exactly they're trying to do. It kinda seemed to me to be a tree-hugger's, shut all nature down to anyone trying to use it, liberal idiot. Here's the email I recieved. William -- Thank you for your message. ORV Watch was organized to stop illegal ORV abuse. We are not concerned about riders who stay in designated ORV open areas or riders to stay on designated trails, but the relentless trespass and damage, especially on holiday weekends by people outside of the area, on both public and private lands. We live in the Morongo Basin and suffer from abuse, trespass and harassment constantly. Many law-abiding people, including ORV enthusiasts riders, are fed up with the illegal riders. Last President's Birthday weekend, illegal riding caused permanent damage in officially designated wilderness areas right next to wilderness boundary signs as if to say "I will ride wherever I want" irregardless of the law. Hundreds of people in the Morongo Basin regularly report riders encroaching on their private property. The local Sheriff's Department is overwhelmed with ORV trespass complaints and have asked for stricter laws to stop illegal riding. Dozens of people have reported harassment by ORV riders who ride day and night, trespass on their clearly marked land and have threatened physical violence. ORV damage causes erosion, destruction of animals and their habitat, denudes the land of vegetation and forces down property values. This is not just a problem, but an epidemic. We are trying to stop the abuse through cooperation with local law enforcement, a new ordinance that will give law enforcement the tools they need. We have been working with representatives from the ORV industry who are as concerned as we are about those who are riding illegally and irresponsibly since it makes people want to outlaw all ORV activity. I hope that you can help us to educate other riders to show respect for neighbors, protect public lands off-limits to ORVs and obey no trespassing signs. thank you, Phil Klasky for Community ORV Watch I was shocked, it actually sounds like this guy wants to just fix the problem, not shut the entire world down just to get his point across. I, really was speechless. It's the first time I've ever come across someone who seemed to have liberal/democratic beliefs, and still have common sense!!!
