  2. gonna have to change his HQ name too........shearerboy ^^^free bump
  3. I run the VF3's on my shees
  4. sorry, i just ordered the 120 link for mine and cut off a few links. I'm thinking around 114'ish on the length.
  5. everybody at the office was wondering what the hell was going on, i haven't laughed that hard in a long time
  6. holy crap, everybody came out of the woodwork for this one. I think that people are overgeneralizing what i said. I never said a pair of 20mm carbs was gonna pull more peak horsepower out of a 4mm motor. I said there was a trade off between volume and velocity. when someone that knows as much shit about banshee motors as the guy that built mine tells you that he doesn't put anything over a 30mm's running pump gas on a 4mm stroker, and shows you plot after plot of bikes that he's built, at some point, you just have to come to a point where he knows what the hell he's talking about. he told me within 1 hp what my bike would dyno at before he even finished assembling it. Many people told me it wasn't possible and that he was 7-10hp too high on his estimate. so, I guess what I'm saying, is run what you want. I'll be the moron with the 26mm carbs pulling 76HP with pump gas. and for the physics guy who posted about velocity and volume take a garden hose with no nozzle and turn the water on. what's the velocity of the water compared to partially covering the end of the hose with your thumb. it doesn't matter how hard you turn the water on at the valve, holding your thumb over part of the end will always produce an increase in velocity. honestly, i got thick skin, so flame on if you feel the need. i wasn't trying to be a dick when i first posted this, i was just passing on information that had been passed on to me in the hopes of saving someone some $$
  7. as a blanket statement, that might be a dangerous statement. his motor sounds close to mine, in terms of the 4mm and dune port. volume isn't the only thing to consider.
  8. I think there are some common misconceptions about carbs and performance from what I've seen. I have a 4mm motor with 5mm long rod that has a good dune port from Redline. I run stock carbs that have been bored some, and they will develop more peak HP than 28pwk's or 35mm's. Bigger carbs can give you more low-end torque and HP, but you will sacrifice it on the top end. One explanation that made sense to me, was it was a trade-off between volume and velocity. So, it's kind of a trade-off. I've seen numerous dyno sheets with motors identical to mine at my builder's shop, where the only thing different are the carbs and it fits what I said.
  9. I'd buy T5's then. Keep them in good shape, and you'll get 75-80% of new price for them on ebay if you decide to sell them next year. Once you decide to do some motor work, have the builder recommend a pipe for you. You can look at dyno sheets on how brand X beats brand Y, but the builder will certainly know which pipe will work best for the work he's doing. If losing the 25% means a big deal to you, you cannot go wrong thinking ahead to next year with CPI's. I've never heard a single engine builder say anything bad about their performance, they are highly recommended and for good reason.
  10. Cam just built me a 4mm motor 2 weeks ago, and it just screams. He and Dan are good friends from what I gather. 76 HP on pump gas with stock carbs for me. I'm more than pleased with my bike.
  11. i THINK that 87-94 are one part # 95-96 nother part # 97-05 newer part # easiest way to find out for sure is find an online microfiche catalog and compare part numbers www.yamahaoftroy.com has one
  12. one of the first questions XP asks you during the install is what you want the administrator password to be. ask her for the password she chose for the administrator account. it doesn't default to password or administrator. if she can't remember, you'll need something like ERD Commander, or just re-install the operating system
  13. if it overflows before the bike really starts getting warm, it could be a sign that your head gasket or o-rings could be going or your head isn't torqued down right. might wanna do a compression check and make sure both cylinders are close. otherwise, pressure can leak from the head into the cooling system and it will overflow when the bike isn't really even hot.
  14. I think opinions will vary with location. Myself, I prefer someone local. You can avoid shipping, talk to the builder, and most likely rub elbows with other customers. There are quite a few notable engine builders in the NW, but Patriot Racing and Redline Racing seem to have the best word of mouth. I had mine done at Redline, partly, because it's onlly 15 miles from my house. Not to bash this site at all, because there is some really great information here...sometimes, people will recommend stuff that they don't have any personal experience themselves. So, often times a specific brand tends to get overhyped IMHO because a handful of 'popular' members feel one way or the other. Honestly, I'd talk to people that ride locally at the same spots you do. Many times, they'll even let you ride their bike and you can feel first hand what someone's work is like.
  15. pleez. he's a worthless f'n punk. bought a 99 frame from him feb21 and haven't seen shit. in that time, his brother has died, forcing him to go to Florida and not answer emails for a week. then, he had breast cancer.......blah blah blah. Said that he sent me a money order 2 and a half weeks ago, but it appears the USPS filters mail from people in PA, because I've yet to see it. he's just a bitch and deserves to be prison raped.
  16. when you buy a crank, if it's a hot rod crank, ask them what the part number is. you want the H129, which is a 4mm stroker with a 5mm longer rod. it comes welded from the factory. they have a stock stroke crank with a 5mm long rod, i think it's the H111. it does NOT come welded from the factory, so add about 100-150 to weld and true it since you gotta do the inner and outer webs. it's cheaper and you'll get more horsepower just going with the H129. a complete gasket, seal, H129, and 795 series pistons should run you under $700 if you shop around. Porting will run you 300-500, machining the head is around 50-70, I can't remember. some vforce 3 reeds are 200, and CPI in frames are about $520. if you need a bore job, add $35 per cylinder
  17. no, I meant it the way I typed it. bag the T6's. if you aren't gonna port your cylinders, go with the T5's. if you are, get CPI's or another pipe suited for it.
  18. if you don't envision porting yoru cylinders in the near future, get the t5's. still run them on one of my shee's. run cpi inframes on the other. if you're only worried bout ballpark jetting, enough people on this site run every combination imaginable, they'll get you closer to your jetting than "the perfect jet kit" from toomey.
  19. if the meter went to 0 with every combination, you're doing something wrong or the meter is broken. does it read 0 when the probe leads aren't touching anythying at all? Also, does the meter say 0 or 0L. If it's 0L, it's reading an open, or too much resistance for the range you are at on the meter.
  20. ride more often, or get one of those longer thumb throttles from cascade or modquad.
  21. if you have the slightest inkling of a thought about porting or other internal mods, save yourself some $$ and buy some CPI's or even those Rocket Thingies, they seem to be popular here

    Need Carbs asap

Have a ride planned for Saturday, and the carbs i just bought off fleabay are dawgshizznit. I don't care if they're stock or 28mm, but I don't want any TORS. email me at [email protected] I will pay for overnight delivery.
  24. hey, to all of you that have been ripped off by him, could you email me your info and details of the purchase with dates and prices... my email is [email protected] I've already talked to the state police in uniontown and they seem like they'd work this for us, especially since this deals with multiple people. I want this little punk prosecuted.
  25. That's the same motherfucker that ripped me on a banshee frame that I had found on gasdriven.com I sent him the money Feb 21 and to date haven't got jack shit. Supposedly, he mailed me a money order on 4/8. His name and addy is: Dane Firestone 762 Rich Hill Road Connellsville PA 15425
