I've been flat track racing for a long time and believe me u dont want that top mount durablue lowering kit.what u want is the one that takes the shock at the bottom and moves it out. the durablue one moves it at the top and u end up with a shock that is straight up and down. totally mess's with the cornering abilty in a negative way.   3. ok that extra wire is an extra ground. i think it will all go together easily, also they use the same plug. i geuss if anything ill have to swap cdi and stator also.
  4. hello all, I have a 96 shee w/big bore kit and i want to swap it over to my 03 ice racer. I was just wondering if i have to change all the electrical too or anything else besides just the motor. I know all shees r the same but they changed some electrical around 96-97, but all i can see is that the cdi has one more wire on the 03 ,possibly a ground. Any advice or tips &tricks would be appreciated,thanks
  5. well u guys were right as usual. i took the carbs and went through them with a white glove and it turned out to be the pilot jet I just raced on the ice all day with no probs THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP
  6. hello all ,been awhile, finally got one of my banshees running and now it is acting weird. At idle it will slowly start to raise the idle on its own and wants to race. I just went through the carbs and rebiult the engine last summer, it has about 15 hrs on it before it shit the cdi box and sat fro about 3 months due to unforseen curcumstances. Now i got the cdi box on it and it will sit there and lrun fine butout of nowhere it jsut starts revving up . Do u think the carbs need to be gone through agian or maybe an air leak, i did not find an air leak but i might have missed it . Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

O.K. here is the latest ive come to i got lazy when i pulled the plugs a bit ago and didnt want to clean them so i put a new pair in and it fired FIRST KICK i let it warm up and took it for a spin and it still kinda bogged out in 1st and 2nd. then i shut it down and it fired at about 3 kicks ,ran it some more, shut it down and it took 10+ kicks to get it to fire, ran it , shut down and it would not fire after alot of kicks so i think that i may have some kind of carb problem that is fouling my plugs just super quick and ther hotter the engine gets the more the problem is purpetuated by maybe a slightly weak spark by fouling plugs i was going to switch a stator assembly into irt but didnt realize that it needs a special puller. I have a pile of puller's and none of them will work do u guys think that a super rich prob could cause what has been happening(is too rich, runs like ass till it winds up enough to eat all that feul , meanwhile fouling the plugs till it just wont start) one problem leads to another. the only problem is that when i do hot plug runs they look TEXTBOOK PERFECT
  8. thanks for all your replys everyone im leaning towards electrical cause it seems the more i mess with it the worse it gets. NOW it wont een start cold with the kickstarter. im going to clean all electrical connections and maybe swap a good stator assembly into it. could a failing stator cause it to bog down until it gets to third???? i just hope that a stator from an 03' will work in the96' (it is the only good one i got)
  9. rare- its only funny when its not u hehe i did not do a compresion check yet. I did just recently get it but it was from a guy i race with on the ice and party with .......but still u never know ,the way poeple r these days i geuss .And it wasnt just a topend biuld it was the whole thing . i geuss u learn somthing new every day. 99-up banshees have different electrical than 99-below. i thought the cdi might be it so iwas gonna switch it with my 03' and it is different, different connectors,more wires and bigger. 350 FOR A NEW ONE IS CRAZY TALK. I did do the test for the stator and stuff and it checked out , still i pulled the cover and cleaned all the contacts, do you think that broken reeds could cause this? I also pushed started it and did a hot plug check and it is text book perfect but it is REALLy weak through 1st and 2nd then gets on it in 3rd thanks for the reply , any info is appreciated
  10. PLEASE HELP i did a spark test it was real weak searched and found a busted wire on the cdi box, repaired has awsome spark. NOW it started up and ran for a min then died and will not start with kick starter at all only push start. I turned the idle down and played with it it did not help. when i do pull start it it doesnt want to run in 1st and 2nd get into third and it comes alive again.just cause i took a bunch of stuff off my 03 to see if it would help ,primary ciol secondary , i am getting really pissed now push start by your self with no hills is getting old
  11. thanks for all yor replys I dont think it needs to be rebiult it was just done about 25 - 30 hrs ago. my first guess actually was it was too rich and loading up i guess u would say after it is warm... hhhmmm might be electrical though , i will go and check both out right now.thanks by the way i have 3 shees, one 03 ice racer currently under rebiud , and 2 96's i just sold my 94(just frame and block left on that one)
  12. hello all I Have a bunch of banshee's and have never had this problem.I figured all the experts on here could help. It starts up FIRST kick when it is cold, but after i go ride it and shut it off for whatever reason it WILL NOT START up at all with the kick starter. i have to push start it. PLEASE HELP anyone have a simaler prob.All my other shee's once they r warm they fire first kick every time. by the way it is a new shee (for me 96) and has vito everthing and true and welded crank, fmf fattys,high flow water pump. any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
  13. I read your post's RARE and it looks like about the same but mines actually blown through the piston. I got about twice that much piston material out of my pipse when i pulled them off. Was your crank seized , mine seems to be, im sure ill have to replace it . HOpfully my block is fine I want to brebuild it to be bulletproof and last a long time but i dont want to spend a arm and leg. I was thinking of the 370 long rod , from what i read it beefs up the durability quiet a bit. thanks for your help ,any advice is appreciated
  14. HOLY CRAP I just gave a little tap to the side of the cylinder and it came right out piston and all , why , cause there is no wrist pin left and nothing for it to connect to on the piston. The cylinder is gone there are half inch deep gouges in it and chunks broken off. The rod is bent and i think the block and crank are scared at least on the upper side. any one ever see them blow like this?does anyone know the cheapest place to buy a full motor or do i have to buy a block and build one.
  15. ty for your advice stclark816 ill definatly flush everything when i get it apart imn still trying to get the cylinder offbut the piston is seized .any tips on freeing it up (keep it bolted on and take a peice of wood on the pistonand hit that with a hammer is an idea i was considering) also is that website pretty good, hasnt ripped off anyone thanks again
  16. ty for the reply .well i just pulled the head off and it is pretty bad, there is a hole in the piston the size of a dime, chunks of piston all over and im sure some went down into the case. any tips on freeing it up, i dont want to just try and force it and screw somthing else up
  17. Hello all, well it finally happened , my 03 banshee let go, so it is time for a rebuild. It locked up on me at the track , the left cylinder has bits of alluminum on the spark plug , right side plug looks fine.My guess is that cylinder leaned out too much. my first question is what are some tricks to getting it freed up? and what do u guys recomend i do as far as rebiulding it ? tips? tricks? parts? advice? I am not a novice mechanic i am ASE master certified w/ 10+ years experience. However this is the first banshee ive ever torn apart and want to do it right. Im sure most of you are probably experts on this by now. any help would be GREATLY appreciated

  19. I race on a 3.1 mile grand prix ICE course and a 1/8 mile drag course all winter in Alaska (winter is 9 months a year). I turn real good times draggin with cheng shin ice tires w/ 440 ice screws in each rear tire. I use the same tires to race tt and i toss about 15 screws a day (about 50 laps). I have treid all the other combos and have the best et's with straight JL ice screws on cheng shin's.
  20. i have the sst's and i LOVE them. they got good mid and high range power.
