  1. I didnt say it was impossible, but usually, especially a detonation caused failure...idk, always been my experience, i mean, i have seen shattered forges, but usually if everything is right, your wall clearance and that...
  2. no no hell no....forged slugs are always stonger, even I hyperutenic..or however its spelled, isnt as strong, when a forged piston fails, it plastics a bit and melts, when a cast breaks..the shatter usually, the are never gonna be as light or strong...
  3. The Quadzilla I ride with is nothing special, just a pipe, maybe a little overbore, some a-arms and gearing....i am the lightest of the riders, minus my sister, at 155 lbs, when I cant beat a lt 500 with a 320 lb 6-8 half ape on it....ya know your beat. the raptors I ride with, both are piped and jetted, but thats it..one has full yoshi, the other looney tunes...they run strong, pull hard, but I agree, they seem short legged, can torque around and idle up anything infront of them, brutally good runners...but at the dunes, my brother in law, who is the real rider of the group, he wants to ride the banshee, or he breaks out his ole quadracer, those old zukes run good...a little headshave and some piston, they run damn good.... but your not gonna beat a shee on them, nor the raptor, or the two 450r's, one honda one yami, i ride with, and its not rider, cause I aint that great, those guys are better...and thier quads arent stock...maybe its all gearing, who know...but even my buddy with the new 450 honda parks it and breaks out the tweaked 'shee at the dune.
  4. isnt wiseco really the only piston? i mean really, why even bother with others.
  5. I realize that, but how do they attatch, threads? or what?
  6. I was really putting some thought into building my own set of a-arms. I know several very good fabricators, and have access to everything from mills to lathes and a tig, but I need to know what kind of ball joints to use. I saw that lonestar racing talks about 87 warrior balljoints, are they a press in type...any thoughts?
  7. vise grips and a bud light usually do the trick for me
  8. the jet hot coatings seems to really do a hell of a nice job on my headers, and they look slick, but my t-5's are chrome haha, but jet hot works damn well
  9. I think my helmet has saved me atleast 2 reconstructive surguries...who the hell would let their kid ride without one, or ride without one themselves, just nothing short of damn stupid
  10. I have a buddy that did it, all I really remember is the quad didnt last too long before it was toast...
  11. I love my t-5's, but I haven't really rode many other pipes...
  12. hmm, I always thought 2.5 was the perfect hillclimb gear?
  13. I really like my cheapo tusk bars...rocky mountain sells em, and they are pretty tough..only set i bent had something to do with a whole shee landing on top of them after my front end came apart....comfortable...shiny...cheap
  14. Runnin av gas is dangerous and borders on stupid...due to burn...it burns cool, and causes your piston to actually shrink in relation to the cylinder, leading to fragged skirts..seen it a million times on snowmobiles, happened to me a couple of times even...running a race gas is much more safe, less chance of sending a piston to the wild beyond..I am not really sure on why it does it, but it leads to problems
  15. Polaris blue sled oil...because its what I run in my snowmachine and makes it easy....at 20 oz to every five gallons hahaha....i knew that there was a reason to keep all those bottle bouncin around in the back of the truck...
  16. Has anyone done an A-arm conversion...my 87 with J-arms is a excellent runner, and I would like to update it a bit...but I cant seem to find anything more than word of mouth about it...
  17. My 'shee is an 87, I have heard of A-arm conversions, can anyone point me in the right directions.
  18. I have a set of wiseco and a set of namura pistons...one set is .060 and the other .080 out, willing to trade for either a head with 22-21 cc domes, or a set of silencers including tailpieces for toomey t-5's email [email protected]
  19. I have some namura and wisecos that I am willing to get rid of, the wisecos are 60's and the namuras are 80's I think.
  20. haha, if this isnt a hick story i dont know what is....I live outta town, and we can ride right up my road to the hills...we were coming down off the mountain on day because of a broken chain on my junker...a 400 explorer...and was gettin pulled down by my older bro..who has a 600 sportsman...we make it most the way through a herd of range cows..when all of a sudden a old red cow just comes chuggin into the side of my brother...i hit the brakes, at the end of 40 ft of rope, and he starts tryin to save it...he stops sideways, and I come flying past with all four locked up, and damn near pull his four wheeler over when i get stopped..he gets thrown from me stoppin on the end of the rope between us...he has broken plastics and a sore neck, and I still need pulled home....only in wyoming would you get sideswiped by a damn cow.
  21. nobody really wants to ride my 'shee, we all have something, i let my bro, and my girlfriends, with me on the back...with her...ride it...my lil bro is a better rider, so he can ride it, even though he broke the silencer showin off for the girls.....and my brother in law, cause he sold it to me, has three of his own, and has helped me out sooo much with mine it isnt funny, guy has taught me sooo much....but not every joe of the street can cruise it.
  22. Mine pulls much stronger after a little timing work.
  23. Ya know, I ride with lots of people, and they have all kinds of quads...the lt 500...yeah, only thing i cant beat, the piped raptors and piped 450r's, no matter whether they are red or a yami...they run good, but on the dunes, might as well park it.
  24. I lost the stator in my 'shee in august, so i put it in the shed and didnt worry about it, well over thanksgiving we put a nice new stator in it, and i rode it a bit, then came back to school, during my absence my lil bro wheelied it over and ripped one of my t-5 silencers apart, I was stoked about it...lemme tell you...
  25. I put a three way toggle up under the nose of the machine, there is a bracket/brace there that holds it great, and put a push button kill switch...
