I'll sand down the edges to clean them up...my threads are wet with gas
-
When i rejetted the carbs the slides were covered with black shit...i didnt know if that was factory or not but i'll pull them again and clean them up. Yes, my air box lid is drilled and only the lid, right through to the filter. When i was at 1700 ft i pulled my plugs to look at them and 1/2 was white, and 1/2 was brown.... 1/2 as in right down the middle.....what would cause this???

hey guys, i'm running a 03 with t5's, v force 3's, Dyna CDI, Nology coil with hot wires, TOR's removed. Around here the elevation is 300ft...i'm currently jetted at 280 main and stock pilot. I also have the air box drilled with the foam inserts. My motor is currently .040 over, with the stock head milled .020. My shee was running great till i got it up to 1700ft. Obviously it was a little rich, but was running fine... But when i went to let off the gas it would SLOWLY come down... Kinda scary when you are trail riding. If i were to jolt the throttle it would come down normal. It kept getting worse throughout the day. I finally stopped and was toying with it looking for a air leak, and would hold the throttle at 1/2 and let off but it wouldnt stop revving...it would hold the RPMs and not shut off with the switch. It just kept revving...and seemed to do it on the right cylinder cause there was no exhaust coming from the left side during this....I revved it again (snapped it) and it came back down to idle... I sprayed starting fluid around and found no leaks....i'm not blowing smoke so i figured it wasnt the crank seal. Could it be a detonation problem? I checked my compression and it was 145 on both...i'm running a VP 108 with Golden Spectro (50:1 synthetic) to play it safe cause its a new top end. There was no metal on the plugs either. The bikes temp was 130-170 all day if i went faster it cooled down...slower it would heat up. Any ideas??? I'm at a loss thanks Ed By the way the temp up there was 30-38 all day and when i sprayed starting fluid in the airbox to see what it would do, it bogged...i figured it would rev??

Swapped to no TORS carbs and won't idle
sschevy383 replied to Toybreaker's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Remove the idle screws and you have to remove some material where the screw goes. I took off about 3/8 of an inch to get enough play for adjustment. -
Hey guys, Does anyone recommend someone to do some port work to my jugs in Pennsylvania? I live near philly and was hoping i wouldnt have to ship them anywhere. thanks Ed

1450 feet diff in elevation..diff jets?

damn I thought my mods were in my Signature...sorry guys 03 shee, T-5's, + 5 degrees on timing, Vforce 3's, 135 cranking PSI with a UNI filter Also ran into some more problems.... Now she wont start unless i kick her like 15 times. It always started on the 2nd kick before. Also, if i pull the choke out, it will rev higher. Is this correct? again, i have 300 mains...sounds like i wanna be more like 290-280. I have 6 of holes drilled in my airbox with the air plugs in there, but it was still too rich up the mountians. -
hey guys, i went riding in hazleton Pa yesterday and i couldnt get my banshee to run right at all untill i removed my airbox lid. I was surprised cause back when i was stock, i never had problems. The Elevation where i live is 250 ft...and where we went riding was 1700. Do you think that 1450 ft would make that much difference? I have 300's in there and it had no top end whatsoever, it would bogg like crazy. wouldnt run above 130 all day. Which is good, but i was riding hard climbing the coal hills. Has anyone ever had to do that much of a jet change for 1450 ft?? Also, on the air/fuel screws....is turning it in leaning it out, or its turning it out? Ed

Well its fixed, now idea what it was. Pulled eveyrthing appart again, cleaned with carb cleaner and compressed air. Now shes fine! Thanks guys

Yes its is, this ones got me stumped. could a cracked piston give good compression, but have problems when running?? i'm going to pull the back carb boots off...and place my hand over the carb to see if its sucking...who knows....

I'm gettin a weird backfire out the left side, on anything BUT full throttle. 03 Banshee...stock bore and port, T5's v force 3's, modified airbox with twin air filter. Stock carbs with 300mains. 4 degrees advanced thanks to ricky stator. TORS eliminator. Ever since i got the bike i had less exhaust out the one side, but when wide open, it would run great. The bike has little low end due to running on one cylinder, but when cranked open, she'll pull the wheels in 3rd gear I installed new reeds....no change took carbs completly appart and Swapped parts from left carb into right and right into left...no change removed TORS...no change I have no intake leak..ichecked with starting fluid The slides are in sync.... New exhaust did nothing either.... compression is 130 on both sides, i even switched the spark plugs and wires....still as a low end miss/pop out the left side. Low end is not 100%...more like 30% when i run anykid of part throttle...i can feel more exhaust on the right side...then when i open her full, she screams and the exhaust is the same! I'm confused, any idea's guys??? Thanks Ed

Gimmie an idea where to start with jetting
sschevy383 replied to sschevy383's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I'm running the stock box with a UNI filter. I'll be running no lid tho... -
Hey Guys, Just got my set of T5's tonight. My stock head is out getting .030 milled off, I ride In the mountians in PA, Hazelton to be exact. Not sure of elevation. I bought a pair or Stock carbs that are supposed to be jetted for these pipes. The guy also told me I need a new throttle cable with these carbs because of the "TORS" is blocked off? WHat is the "tors unit"? and what do i have to exactly get and do to my bike to make it run the way i want. ALso where would i be at a standingpoint with jetting and what not? Thanks guys Ed

No low end...Then picks up and is gone...

Thanks guys i'll check it out tonight! I'll have to get a book, cause these things are a little different than Holleys -
Hye guys, i just picked up my 03 and something seems wrong. in neutral...you can slowly give it gas and its perfectly fine...But when in gear...there is no part throttle... It just kinda boggs....u have to get the rpms up almost 3/8 throttle to even pull off or it will stall. then when cruzing, it has a studder/pop about 3/8th throttle thenonce you past 1/2...it launches like you hit a NOS button.... there is no smooth accelleration, its pretty much like.....Boggggg....POP!.....then runs its balls off and has no problems ....any ideas?
